Age creeps up on everyone. I do understand that that his 2013 performances suggest that he's better than ever . But I think if he fights one of these strong primed welterweights like Bradley and Thurman . I don't think his 0 will retire with him . Just saying.
Gotta be this week. Wouldn't be surprised if it's today.
**crosses fingers for shock Mayweather-Marquez II announcement. Glad to settle for Maidana though.**
At this point it is getting ridiculous. I get that floyd/sho like to tease the announcement and let the anticipation build, but really. Just accept the fact the khan fight shouldn't be made unless you are giving it for free on CBS (and even then it shouldn't get made), announce Maidana, put Broner and Mares on the card and lets move on.
He has painfully slow feet though. Ricky Hatton could at least cut the distance with fast footwork. Maidana looks like he's walking through quicksand.
I agree there but I don't think stylistically Maidana compares to his last two fights other than all three being slow of foot like you mentioned.
Guererro and Canelo are both boxers and counter punchers by nature.
Maidana atleast won't be a slow paced fight from start to finish which was the main reason Floyd found his last 2 fights so easy.
I think it's more to do with the fact that both of them are natural boxers and fight at a slower page.
Maidana doesn't he's going to force the fight with power in both hands.

He's looked better to the naked eye but that's down to the fact he fought two guys with cement in their legs. Hence the potential choice of Maidana who he'll look great against too.

He's looked considerably slower in his last 3 fights.
Some people actually think he looks better than he ever has which I find astonishing.

Yeah his ability to sustain has been impressive. I thought he was slowing down years ago but he sorta became a more athletic James Toney with lesser activity. But yup, the end is in sight.
When are they going to announce this thing?
I don't think he'll struggle but I do think it will be more competitive than people think.
I think this because Maidanas going to be the first opponent in quite a while that will have no respect, keep coming despite getting hit and get in his face and not be afraid to get dirty. Similar to Hatton. And Floyd at this stage in his career I could see having some issues with that.
I remember us going back and forth about this same thing for the Ortiz fight. I think now is more closer to that time.
The guys been a professional for 18 years and at the age of 37.

He sure has. Watching the Canelo fight again was eye-opening. The Mosley fight was four years ago! And the Mayweather who fought Marquez is long, long gone. I wouldn't be surprised to see him struggle with Maidana, to be honest.

He looked pretty old to me against Canelo. I think it's closer than people realize.

You never know when a fighter will get old overnight. Mayweather's at a point where it shouldn't surprise anyone if he gets in the ring and suddenly doesn't look the same guy anymore.

Ali has nothing to with Floyd nor does Leonard...I couldn't care less about your agenda with him
People didn't appreciate Ali for his style, personality, and draft dodging
There were also those who complained of Leonard admittingly fighting Hagler when he was slipping and fighting hearns when he thought he was done in the rematch as well as taking half a decade to fight a past it Duran in the third fight
basically no one is impervious to opinions...which are like ass holes
What you do have to face are facts....Mayweather has beaten more champions and contenders than anyone around today and longer at a High level...he is the last man standing from his generation, undefeated as well....stop trying to condemn him for what he has not done and commend him for what he has done...which is do what very few have...being a champion in two weight classes at 37
People need to appreciate what we have while he is here
If Ali refused to fight Foreman and Frazier would he be appreciated? Would Leonard be appreciated if he refused to fight Duran, Hearns, and Hagler?
Mayweather is a once a generation type talent...before him there was Roy, before him pernell
What separates him from a lot of fighters today is the mastery of his craft and his work ethic...he had the natural talent of the aforementioned predecessors but added with the work ethic and drive he has been fighting world class fighters consistently since 1998....beat 12 world champions and major title holders in a row.....no fighter in the era of the wba, wbc, ibf era has done so...not including the wbogus belt.
