Hasn't been pro for a year yet, and last night scored his 13th win by KOing a guy Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr only fought last year (Wilder has been pro for 5 years). And although it speaks more about Wilder's progression and matchmaking it was a mature performance from a 19 year old who hasn't even been pro for a year. He looks like he's been a pro for years, his power was quite devastating.
Check it out, Greer takes quite a battering and gets KO'd in the 2nd
Around here, beating only bums earns you your own bandwagon. Why wait til they beat a breathin soul?
To be fair you can judge fighters on what you see - bum or not.
But like any heavyweight until someone sticks a solid shot on his chin it's all up in the air.
He looks so calm in there.
Him and his Father seem like very chilled out individuals in comparison to Tyson.
I can imagine Hughie dealing well with a crisis if he dropped on his arse and hurt.
He could step it up a little. John McDermott is a good shout or even a Sam Sexton, Ian Lewison or Rogie. I know that it would take a little more money to entice these guys to fight him though. But I think we know he is good now.
Frank Warren should really make a play for him. And invest money in him. I just can't see him being a failure at all. Even if he loses he has time on his side.
So far, all I can really say about him is that he looks better than cuz Tyson.
His opponents so far don't tell us much, and right now I'm more impressed with his Youth World Amateur gold than anything he's done as a pro (not least cos many of his opponents have actually been paid by the Furys themslves).
Don't get me wrong, I think the kid has potential, but IMO it's way too early to be saying he's the real deal.
I agree.
He looks well-rounded and has a decent chin. I hope they don't rush him along; he's still young. He'll get some great sparring now, with Eddie Chambers in the Fury camp.
Aye I don't think he needs to fight as many times as he did last year as long as the fights he does get are of benefit to him, against opposition which is gradually improving. I think he'll be ready for a British/Commonwealth title by the end of the year, although Hearn has said the same about Joshua.
Tbf he'd beat McDermott now, IMO. But like you said, no need to rush him.
