Dude Pac wasnt even a welter. He was coming up in weight to his 7th division, and picked elite welter Cotto instead, a lot better than picking Sharmba Mitchell going up to your 4th division
See look here people... more excuses. Floyd hand picks his opponents but when Manny does it he gets a pass. Manny and Floyd were the same damn size at 147. They have always been the same size at WW. When you fight at 147 and you are making a name for yourself and you have the hype behind you then you prove your worth. Make more excuses though. Both Manny and Floyd's resume at 147 isn't sh*t. Out of both of them the best name at 147 is Floyd's win over Mosley because of how highly Mosley was considered at that time. Roach is the best tool to use in this argument because Roach likes to run his mouth and sh*t on his own fighters achievements without even realizing that hes doing it.
Mayweather had only been fighting once per year going all the way back to 2008 when he retired after the Hatton fight. He said he was going to retire after de la hoya but fought Hatton, but then did retire for a while until he got in trouble with the IRS then came back and fought Marquez in what was supposed to be a tune up for Pac in 2009 but that fell through so he took the next toughest fight in Shane. After that, neither Pac nor Floyd or their camps entered into serious negotiations again until Floyd offered Manny 40 million over the phone.
I think Pac and Arum ducked the first negotiations and I think they've all been guilty of the fight not happening since. Arum should let Pac out of his contract for one fight so Manny and Floyd can do what Floyd and Cotto did. I have no doubt the fight would happen if Arum wasn't involved.
yes the negotiations conducted over the phone between studdering floyd mayweather and a guy who can barely speak english were very serious. i mean the contracts were virtually signed.
Does there need to be a feud for a promoter to pick his fighters that are equally capable opponent since he beat Mosley and who had a title and it was Manny's first true test against a WW? Most thought that Cotto was too much.
Much better than selecting Marquez for Floyd ..... there are interviews where Floyd said no to a Mosley fight and you guys went on protecting that. Where was Marquez ranked at the time at WW? At JWW? :lol1:
Right but that isn't what you were saying :lol1: You were using the feud as an excuse except there wasn't a feud then. It's that simple.
The rest of your post is just an attempt at deflection.

floyd's the one that keeps changing his demands but sure it was everyone! why didn't floyd just agree to what he wanted? is that so hard? to agree to what you yourself just wanted. fu-cks sakes. does he have a split-personality or something. he wants something then when he gets it, he wants more. yeah he so would have fought pac if pac only agreed sooner! how convenient! we tested how floyd reacted when pac agreed to those same negotiations and floyd ran, yet you are expecting a different result for some strange reason. you are the worlds worse scientist :birthday:
why would arum let pac out of his contract? so he could make zero dollars? and you are probably one of the floyd only fights whoever makes him the most money, boxing is a business people. i guess it's only a business for floyd. for arum its charity work.
Why did Floyd go on a lengthy low key vacation couple of months after Clottey, after Pac finished his first run for congress?

I wouldnt say Pac so much as his team did. Lets be real... If you manage/promote a slightly smaller come forward fighter do you put him in against someone who just obliterated the perceived terminator? Hell no they dont. Cotto and Shane were about even in terms of name people saying Cotto was a "much better option" are delusional. Mosley was indisputably the man at 147 at the time. He looked so good people wanted him to fight Floyd. You know someone looks good when they want him to cause that kind of harm to mayweather lol.
Anyway, Cotto was a good fight (catchweight but ehh... What's new? It was still a good fight). Honestly though is it even a duck if Roach himself says Shane is "too good"? That's borderline duck or just plain honestly thinking Pac wasnt physically ready for that type of matchup.
No shame in admitting your fighter might not be ready for someone... Stylistically, Shane at his best is a nightmare against anyone who comes forward because of how well he can box, his speed-explosiveness and huge power at 147 along with his ferocity and atg chin. I dont want to justify it but Cotto was a better matchup for Pac and considered the weaker of the two especially with the big beating he had taken vs Marg and his vulnerability vs Clottey. Let's not get it twisted because Cotto WAS a good fight and one we all wanted. Honestly as fans we couldnt have gone wrong with either and Pacs team felt he had a better shot vs Cotto and Shane presented more risk or an unknown factor. Think TR wanted any part of Shane after Marg (the man hyped as the terminator)?
Shane calls his own shots, nobody needs to use the TR excuse.
Yep. Arum couldn't end and run away from the Floyd negotiations fast enough to get to that bunk Clottey fight that bombed on ppv and at the box office. If this dorsnt raise red flags, nothing will.
And yes, Berto ended up getting step aside money to walk away from the Shane fight to make room for Floyd and the situation in Haiti offered the perfect cover.
Lots of these kids on this site now are either in denial of all of this stuff or they were too young at time to UAE their parents computers to know what was going down but its all available on the internet for those interested in the truth.

I can't believe people are actually trying to make excuses for Manny ducking Mosley in 09. Mosley said he would even fight at the CW and they still declined. Mosley was practically begging for the fight and they go on to fight Cotto even though BOTH Manny and Roach out of their own mouths said they thought Cotto lost his fight with Clottey... Roach out of his own mouth said he didn't want the fight because Mosley was too "good" and too "strong". Hard to take people serious on this forum. I mean people were shocked when Floyd stepped up to fight him. Even Arum said that Floyd would never fight Mosley right after they made excuses for Manny not to fight him. But now all of a sudden people want to forget that Manny did pick and choose his opponents at 147. Floyd did it and Manny did it but they want to give Manny a pass.

my fave part of that is.....floyds trying, genuinely, to make the pac fight....it falls through yet pac miraculously has another fight and stadium ready to go with clottey....so floyd is like "**** what am i gonna do"....cause shane/berto was already signed and ready to go.....then floyds like "**** i need shane"......if the earthquake in haiti never happened im willing to bet berto would have come down with an "injury".....berto got some step aside money for sure

Exactly. Everything you said plus they waited until Floyd beat shane up and aged him overnight. Nobody had the guts to take on Shane after he clubbed Margacheato but Floyd. And the ONLY reason Floyd fought Shane is because Pac and Arum ducked Floyd and the drug testing in late 2009.
Pac did a double duck of Floyd and Shane and instead fought Clottey.
Roach, Ariza, Kontz, and Arum wanted no part of drug testing or slick and quick African American fighters....and for good reason.

Pac had better opportunities at the time and when shane finally got his chance to fight pac look what happened. After he got knocked down he ran away from pac for the rest of the fight
No.
Roach new what's up and most here get it too. That is, they already had Cotto lined up and Roach knew that there was no way that Mosley was going to get a fight with Manny when there was a Top Rank opponent who BEAT Mosley who was ready and able to fight Manny next and that would have given great PPV numbers. That's right. He never ducked Mosley. He took the fight Arum wanted against a guy that beat Mosley, was easier to make and paid better. People saying he ducked Mosley need to use their common sense. Pacquiao is fearless and Cotto was the fight any fighter in his position would have taken. If he fights Mosley he makes less money and Cotto fans say he ducked Cotto. Pacquiao doesn't duck fighters and he later beat Mosley in a shutout at the full 147 pounds or did you forget that. Pacquiao had nothing to fear from Mosley because he was a much better fighter.
No.

This. I hate the business of the sport sometimes but Manny had to strike while the iron was hot. Cotto was and still is a proven ppv commodity. That why we get the cash out ppv of Martinez v Cotto. BTW if Martinez even has 6 rounds worth of movement left in him hes ko'ing Cotto.
Well, clearly you did. It's all there to see.
You were using the GBP/TR feud as an excuse but that wasn't the case at that time.
But like I said the fact remains that at the time the #1 WW and #3 P4P was apparently "Too good". It is what it is.

There is nothing done swiftly on my part. They had Cotto who was a TR fighter who beat Mosley and so on and you are now agreeing that the Hatton fight was a different scenario. So that is what I stated.
It appears that you agree with everything else, so that is that ...

If this is when Shane was begging for the fight even so much so that he said he fight him at 143?
If so then yes Pac did duck Shane. I remember Mosley coming to the wildcard and Roach telling to his face NO YOURE TOO GOOD.
Then after an ass whooping from Floyd and a horrible Mora fight THEN Pac/Roach wanted it. AFTER Arum blasted Mosley for having nothing left.
