Alexander clinched excessively. So much so that he was going against the Marquess of Queensberry rules. Do you really think that counts as beating Maidana?
To be fair, Maidana was waiting too much in that fight. He was expecting something to be given to him.
He doesn't fight that way anymore.
The usual old excuses
Floyd not only clinches, he shoulder rolls, he moves his head, uses his feet, the guy has every defensive tool in the book, he's 100000% more advanced than the likes of Devon
Maidana stands 0.1% chance..only way he could win is via a lucky punch.
"He doesnt fight like that anymore"..please stop with this tired old nonsense, he hasnt faced a boxer since he fought Devon, he's fought a bunch of brawlers and a guy with no feet
Maidana will be the same Madiana soon as he gets in the ring with a boxer, you cant train a old dog new tricks.
not good for floyd ... most likely he wins but in a boring ass fight and would get critcize for it ... if he tries to get cute and impress, maidana would bust his ass up ...
Back alleys...Maidana isn't an urban street urchin, he's a country boy farmer from the sticks. His Dad is a gaucho (cowboy) and his parents live without electricity, have a read:

Thank you! I like El Chino even more, if that's even possible.
I was merely speaking figuratively. Thanks for the article though.
He has eight siblings.
I wouldn't be surprised if Maidana knocks out Mayweather.
Here's why.
Maidana fights at a steady brawling pace with a hard-to-time rhythm.
Maidana would not respect Mayweather at all. If Mayweather tries to touch gloves with Chino he would be greeted with a right hand to the chin. Proof: The sixth round of Ortiz-Maidana, and the first round of Khan-Maidana. Ortiz and Khan try to touch gloves with Maidana and Maidana throws a power shot at them. Mayweather would be no different.
Maidana will not let Mayweather make the fight a sparring session; Maidana would grab Mayweather, take him to the back alleys of Argentina, and make Mayweather fight.
Maidana has the footwork and boxing IQ to make Mayweather fight. Mayweather likely wins but not without experiencing the punch of his life.
Back alleys...Maidana isn't an urban street urchin, he's a country boy farmer from the sticks. His Dad is a gaucho (cowboy) and his parents live without electricity, have a read:
Maidana, the mandatory challenger to Khan’s WBA title, grew up humbly, in Margarita, a village of 5,000 deep in the South American countryside.
It is only an hour on horseback from there to the birthplace of the great Carlos Monzon, who held the world middleweight championship for seven years.
He admits that he is more at home on a farm with horses, hunting partridge and hare, and riding every day.
Maidana’s parents may have been poor, but their family never went hungry. Hunting and fishing, tending cattle and riding horses, he and his eight siblings lived off the land.
“If I hadn’t boxed, I’d have spent my life working there. I would have become a gaucho like my father, hunting and fishing at weekends.”
Maidana’s career was progressing nicely until the Kotelnik defeat last year. He went home to his roots, back to the remote farm where his father, Orlando, 72, lives.
“There is no electricity, and we get our water from the well,” he said, having brought with him a gift for his father — a petrol-powered generator with electrical power points.
“He liked it, but when I went back the next time, he hadn’t even used it. Some things never change.” Like Maidana’s dream.
“I want to go on to unify the belts at light-welterweight, and buy enough land and build houses for my entire family, and to own a farm myself.”

You guys pose some great (and wild) angles of how Maidana can be successful in this fight. However, the fact remains he has never been successful in his key fights with boxers with this style. Let alone the boxer who does it the best, why on EARTH would this go around be any different? It's not like it's his 10th fight and he's defining himself. He already is who he is, I don't give a s.hit who his trainer is and neither should you cuz it doesn't make a difference for reasons afore mentioned...

April fools is still a long way away
Were was his boxing IQ against Devon when he lost every round, where was his boxing IQ against Khan, when he lay on the floor gasping for air and had one round of success, where was his boxing IQ against Kotelnik
Maidana is only good against brawlers and boxers with no footwork, any guy who decides to box against him wins..Paulie Malignaggi wud also beat Maidana in a UD

Floyd vs Maidana will be exactly like Pac vs Rios
Movement vs slow plodder, who gasses, can be hurt, doesnt have a good jab, isnt fast, is shorter in reach and height.
See Devon fight, Maidana won 1 round and that was a gift
I actually hope this fight happens so the delusional Maidana fans can see just how **** Chino is
Logic says Mayweather wins, but Maidana seems to defy logic.
A lot of fans who dislike brawlers pick against him and Marcos does better than they expected him to do. I, however, am not surprised. I know what Chino is capable of. He has been fighting boxers professionally since 2004. Before that he had an amateur record of 87-4. Maidana was the back-to-back Argentine National Champion in 2002 and 2003.
He has honed his style to chase down boxers. It may not look pretty but it's effective. Most of his wins come via KO.
Chino lands punches on his opponents. That's all that matters, really.

Maidana is pretty good with those clinches. Lately he's been doing like against Broner, when clinched he gets that arm free and starts to slam the body nicely. Fraud will have his hands full with Maidana. Chino aint no green wet in the ears Canelo or a crappy Guerrero, and he has more KO power than those two put together.
I dont think Maidana ever gives up either. Like in the Khan fight, he seems pretty sure about fking people up unitl the end win or lose. Fraud isnt a kid anymore and he will have a hard time keeping up with that rate of fire if Maidana repeats his performance against Broner.
All of my this.
Thank you very much, FerFAL.
Outboxing Chino is easy, in theory. Actually doing it is harder than people think.
Ever since the Devon Alexander fight Maidana now anticipates clinches. Broner had little success tying Maidana up, due to Maidana making an adjustment.
And yes Maidana does in fact punch harder than Guerrero and Alvarez combined. Josesito Lopez fought Ortiz, Canelo, and Maidana. Lopez said, out of the three, Maidana "has the hardest single punch." Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ae-HUvh9y20&feature=youtu.be&t=12m2s
Personally I don't think Mayweather can take as much punches as Broner. Therefore Mayweather's defense must be 100 percent or I see him getting knocked out brutally. I know Mayweather is tough, but he is not young anymore. At 37, he is vulnerable to the violent offense of a young, strong bull.
I see it being a lot more competitive than people expect due to Floyd's age, consistent decline and the fact Maidana will have no respect for him what so ever and will be the first time that's happened since probably Hatton.
I still expect Mayweather to win comfortably though
It will be more competitive than people think. Mayweather has lost a step.
The biggest problem Maidana poses for Floyd is that you can't really control him with feints.
Everyone that has beaten him has done so with movement speed, and a high work rate.
Expect it to be a hard fought victory for Floyd much like the Cotto fight.
Maidana is very awkward, and throws punches from unorthodox angles and positions, and off balance when you are not expecting him to throw a punch.
That kind of style poses problems for defenses like Floyds. Expect Floyd to get touched up a bit, but still win.
Thank you! :biggthump
