Hell he got crucified for fighting Canelo who fights at 154 at 152...so why would he fight a middleweight at 154?? fight would mean nothing and people would just say they were drained which they would be

fuck Floyd fighting Martinez or GGG a 154
GGG and Martinez need to fight each other at 160
if Floyn needs to fight anybody at 154, it's Lara
and he doesn't need to do that since there's opponents at 147
you're making up a reason to whine Larryx
Sharmba Mitchell was actually Floyd's first fight at 147. He fought at WW before Floyd.
It's OK to have a few and that was fine but he has continued since then right? Why not challenge yourself? Why Larry not making threads about that?
Look, Khan who has never fought at the full WW weight is high on his list of potential fighters for May and would be if not for the backlash. So it's funny that this topic is even raised. Those guys, GGG and Martinez will be the ones who will have trouble with weight, yes, but that is NOT Larryxxx's real concern. Larryxxx's real concern is the threat of FLoyd fighting a riskier fight, as he has discussed in other threads. So that is why you can't take this thread seriously!
Well he should be fighting them at 160 if he really wants to show us how good he is, but we will settle for 154.
No one asked Canelo for a CW, not even old SSM so Floyd embarrassed himself. So he needs to make up for it, also to make up for all his career breaks and taking it easy whilst his peers earnt their living as prizefighters.
He should be the one fighting Martinez in May not Cotto
Miguel Cotto 5'7
Floyd Mayweather 5'8
Shouldn't be either of them
Should be Caballero.
Celestino Caballero 5'11
The same ones who say that, get defensive if you mention Ward. Even though 160 is closer to 168 than 147.
Another Floyd fan trying to wash his hands of his 2x, lineal, unified, reigning champ status at SWW. Why does he have to be called out by a legit threat for his fans to admit he's a sham of a champ in his 5th division, despite the credentials?
No sh*t right? Except Canelo did go down 2lbs voluntarily (1lb less than his previous fight with Trout) When was the last time GGG or Martinez ever fought at 154. There's a vid where Martinez claims he would have to cut off a leg to make 154...
Besides, why is Floyd the only one held to that standard? He makes 147 with such ease and comes in really light for fights at 154 yet they want to him to fight middleweights lmao...
Canelo coming in at 153 for Trout is his prerogative. The belt is for 154 lbs he should've at least had the option to come in at that weight.
Coming in at 152, err I mean 154 is impressive enough but he doesn't deserve to be praised for fighting at welter as if he could make jww. He comes in at 147 "with such ease" my ass, he wouldn't be able to make 140 if he tried. He's there because he has to be.
Because he's at the top of the totem pole. He's the #1 p4p fighter in boxing, the #1 PPV star, and no one (except Pacquiao, maybe Bradley) has a good enough chance to defeat him at welter. He fights for money and most people pay in hopes of seeing him lose, if the illusion isn't there, his PPV buys will drop (see Guerrero or wait for Khan fight).
People want to see him move up to middle for two reasons. 1) like the above, ppl want him to lose, even if it's through sheer size and/or 2) to see a skilled fighter pushing himself to his limits so we can see just how good he is. What he would gain both monetarily and in legacy would well be worth it
Read it and weap buddy, I'll never lie on a fighter.

Dude it doesn't matter, Pac was upfront about that 8th division being too much, unlike Floyd who's not big enough to be a good champ in his 5th but sits on the belt for a year then asks to unify at a catchweight
Honestly, is this the real issue here? Or is it that you are just concerned that Floyd would lose? Be honest.
Secondly, why are you never putting up threads saying that Floyd should not be fighting Hatton, Marquez, Guerrero, Ortiz, Sharmba, Khan, ...... because they moved up to WW not Floyd moved down (at least GGG and Martinez are OK with moving down) and you guys were all OK about that even though they had just 0, 1 or 2 fights there compared to Floyd who has been fighting at those weights since 2005? Remember that this is a Floyd that is also a champ at 154 who is taking on JWWs

I don't recall Mayweather saying he'd fight Martinez at 154.
I remember in the Mosley post fight press conference when asked about Martinez he said something along the lines of "He's an option" but never specifically at 154.
Not saying it's not true but that I don't recall it.
There's definitely a video of him sayin git, saw it here or on one of the other forums. 154 he said was an option for a Martinez fight. I'd try and find the vid but feelin a bit lazy as I watch Arsenal lose :(
If he beat GGG at 154 I would say it was the best victory of his life. I am an old school fan used to fighters who knew what weight they could make without hurting themselves. If GGG says he is good at 154 I believe him and would never use weight drained as an excuse if Mayweather beat him. Floyd did try to drain Canelo after saying he only fights guys at their most comfortable weight. He lied.
Because he is the holder of the WBA and WBC world titles at 154 even though he won it at a top weight of 152. So any good fighter has a perfect right to challenge him for HIS 154 pound title. If Mayweather thinks he is too small to fight at 154 then he should do the right thing and give up his 154 pound title. He should not just sit on that title and never defend it. This September it will be a full year since he won the title from Canelo so he will be past due to defend that title or step down from the title.
In the end Floyd ended up still getting tons of credit for beating Canelo with the CW. Anyway, fighting either of those guys 154 is better than fights Khan at 147. Even with a CW he would still get more credit than anything he can do fighting Khan.
No its not double standard. How many divisions has Pac won titles in? There has to be a limit to how many divisions you can move up. If Floyd wants to match Pac he has to win a title in super middleweight but more likely middleweight at the very least.
Pac has also fought regularly, year after year, tough completion and is FOTD. So Floyd of course has to make up ground.
If Floyd wants to coast the rest of his career, then it is up to him, but don't hold him back from achieving his potential.
Floyd Mayweather doesn't need to match Pacquaio's legacy. And Pacquaio doesn't need to match Floyd Mayweather's legacy. But I do think they NEED to fight each other because it's really the only fight left for either of them.
The maximum limit for both of them is 147 lbs. Floyd Mayweather takes himself into riskier territory going to 154 lbs, when he's already outweighed by opponents at 147 lbs by 15+ lbs on fight night. But none of you talk about that, nor give him credit for it.
Sometimes I don't even see this mentioned about Pacquaio. Many just don't realize how much his opponents outweigh him on fight night. Very few on the forum give either fighters credit for actually fighting in their weight class that they are NATURALLY in, and beating guys that outweigh them by 15+ lbs.
If Pacquaio declines 154 lbs, that is totally fine to me. And I feel he SHOULD decline fights at 154 lbs. He's already disadvantaged fighting at 147 lbs. But at the same time, Mayweather should have the right to decline fights at 154 lbs without criticism too. But nah, you guys drink so much Haterade, you can never call a spade a spade.
Why stop there? Andre Ward wants to fight Mayweather too. And he's considerably better than GGG and Sergio Martinez. Why aren't you asking for an Andre Ward fight instead?
Stop holding Floyd back, set him free from the reigns and shackles. One step at a time, once he loses or wins against GGG or Sergio then he can tackle Ward or not tackle ward.
But get those wins under your belt before tackling Ward. If Floyd chooses to duck the Ward challenge its up to him. He may be content with wins at middleweight against GGG and Sergio.
