Over hyped, over inflated record, given a belt, and exposed by Floyd. he has a better resume than cotto at 23, boxing pro at 16 or 17 in mexico is the hard way to learn specially if you are fighting more experineced fighters like the puppeteer vazquez, just because you are not fighting big names at such a young age it doesnt mean is an easy fight, i attended some veneno rubio fights before he was famous and he had some tough fights with bigger men or skilled ones, if any his hype came from his age and skills, his fights have been televised since he was 17, he has been on telemundo, univision, hbo and of course televisa beating other prospects just like him... so must mexicans know him since he was still on his teens... but then again if you want to criticize his resume, you can start by naming other 23yo fighters with better resume than him...

I like Lara and his style in the ring only thing being is he can't really promote himself to the fans that are watching, it comes across as he has no personality which is probably not the case. If you're going to make a living in a foreign country atleast learn the native language that's all, I wouldn't go to France without knowing how to speak French or without making an effort to learn it.... Young - check Good looking - sorta check (nohomo) Can KO people - check Speak English - He is learning... so getting there I dunno there is alot of things about him perhaps, he's had alot of fights and he is so young its crazy! Before he fought Trout his resume was much better than a guy who is much older.

Actually he fought some decent/good competition considering he turned pro at the age of 15.Anyone that's followed his career pre-GBP would know this obviously your ignorance on this subject is reasonable because the hype started after he signed with GBP. Keep in mind he had no amateur experience ( 15 fights ) and that he's only 23 i'd say he's above the curve as far as stepping up and facing legit competition.

So what is a Mexican suppose to look like ? Dark Indian looking ? Mexicans are a mix of Spaniards Italians and Indians I have Spaniard blood , Sicilian Blood, and Indian blood from my Grandma . My wife is from Mexico and she looks as White as a ghost hell she's Whiter than White People. My son Looks like a White dude so that's how are Mexican Family looks like. Yes! Indian looking bro. That's where the whole brown pride thing cones from. Ofcourse there's some that don't look like that but the majority do.

There's a lot of talk about female fans, but it's men who watch boxing. Canelo was probably pretty exciting until he stepped up in class. Ginger guy with fast hands who was knocking everyone out.

After reading all the posts it seems "he is unique because of his physical features":pat:lol a couple of guys mention his boxing ability, which I agree is good but not great at all. I mean if he is so great, pad that record with some stars ....one thing I at least give to the PR fighters and even African American is they dont get like 40 wins before they start to fight names... Unfortunately from a promoters standpoint that sometime backfires...having too much balls gets you those early losses too. No racism here but IMO, Mexicans LOVE Mexicans actors, musicians who don't look like the typical Mexican. Look at the tv shows and novelas, the biggest stars are the people who don't look Mexican at all. I think this is what happened with Canelo.
