I know Mayweather-Guerrero wasn't officially announced until like a week and a half into February or whatever, but that most likely due to Floyd making his Showtime deal official and what not.
Everyone knows Floyd is fighting a bulls**t fight in Khan, so what is the hold up with announcing it???
I'm still hoping for Mayweather-Maidana, and maybe Floyd gave Broner some step aside money, and that's why Maidana said he wouldn't be fighting in April. Porbably not happening, but one can hope.
Mayweather-Maidana
Broner-Khan
That might be a card you could sell.
If Floyd is consistent, doesn't Maidana need to avenge his losses to Devon and Khan first?
Anyways, those two names (Maidana and Khan) are not going to thrill anyone on this site. They are interchangeable at this point in time. Both need to do a lot more at WW than beat who they beat of late. They didn't beat anyone that meant anything at WW.
I don't think its delaying an announcement but there are some other PPV events in April that could affect the Mayweather fight. PAC/Bradley on April 12th will get a lot of hype after the first fight, people will want to see and could do decent numbers. Plus you have a UFC PPV with Jon Bones Jones on the 26th, just a week before. While there may not be a lot of overlap with the hardcore the casual fans may tune into both in April and may have reservations buying another PPV in May with all the negative attention coming from a Khan fight.
That belongs to the World Cup Final/Champions League Final. Outside of the States, the relevance of that event falls SIGNIFICANTLY. Football is BY FAR the biggest sport in the world.
Yeah, you're right. I was thinking in the US but typed world for some reason....admittedly, I had a few last night and mistyped.
it sounds silly, but they do this. it's not just bscene, but all over.
i know for a fact that they gauge the popularity of these fights by being in contact with the major vegas hotels. they use those numbers to set ticket prices.
i'm convinced that enough complaining on the internet is what moved broner - maidana off of ppv.
Absolutely, I mean how else are they going to see how the "fans" feel about certain fights. Now, I'm not saying that Floyd has an account on here and he spends hours trolling threads or anything but I'm sure someone on his team goes through and reads the posts and lets Floyd know about the ones that stick out.
Yeah maybe.......it is costing 40 Million dollars for 30 seconds of air time during the Superbowl. I think it's kind of humorous that people think Mayweather can just command Superbowl air time like it's a free Sunday paper...this is THE BIGGEST sporting event in the entire world.

Floyd is waiting for people to forget about Pac's charity fight offer so that he's not bombarded with the questions. He's been quiet as a church mouse ever since.
I think that was the main point of the offer. Shut Floyd up a little bit. I doubt Pac seriously thought Floyd would accept, but knew Floyd couldn't really answer without looking like a fool.
The only thing Floyd's been using his twitter feed has been trying to sell some terrible looking TMT gear.
It's pretty easy to build a good undercard, just put Broner v Maidana on it.
Football (Soccer) World Cup final.
To the other people who suggested it...Matthysse, Lara and Mundine are not well known to the US casual fan. You'd be better off suggesting Malignaggi.
Oh, yeah, I know the Cup is a big thing I said in the world but was thinking in the States. I can imagine a lot of Europeans don't really know much or really care about American football. All the major shows that normally come on Sunday nights are all bumped to next week because the networks know that the ratings would be in the trashcan this weekend if they aired.
I was thinking more along the lines of one of those pre-game interviews when they talk to athletes, celebrities, etc.
Yeah, it's possible I guess. I didn't even check yet but if the Superbowl is coming on CBS, that is a potential since they own Showtime. It would be kind of weird for them to let someone promote something that wasn't coming on their network but who knows....you might be right, maybe that is the plan.
as a boxing fan i am so disappointed that myself and fellow boxing fans have to pay to see the number 1 p4p fighter in the sport fight a guy who's not even in the top 5 of his own division.

That offer went as far boxing websites only fool would think Floyd would reply to giving his purse to charity but NSB where the fools go.

Ticket prices for this fight will be the same price for the Guerrero fight more than likely

i know maidana just beat broner, but do any hardcore boxing fans out there think maidana vs mayweather is going to be a competitive fight? as a paying customer i would not be interested in paying to see that fight.
broner vs khan sounds like a good fight to me however, but not ppv.
this is a garbage mismatch of a fight that won't go past 8 rounds.
khan isn't even a huge draw in uk. i was at garcia-khan in vegas and saw handful of khan fans.
They read BoxingScene to gauge the public's opinion of the fights and they know this fight is a complete joke. They are trying to build a good undercard and they are having a hard time coming up with something.

Hard to sell a fight that even casuals know is garbage. Let's hope it never gets announced
