But canelo wasn't hard up for money,, he was becoming a huge draw on his own,, it would have been if Oscar had fought Whittaker in 94/95 instead of 97..
I just feel if I was handling canelo, I would have made him stay busy after the Shane fight,,, fight guys like Ortiz and Kirkland and Williams and angulo on PPv and have stay busy fights vs ishe and k9,,, his first big PPv should have been this year vs cotto, and let Floyd fight the non draws in ghost, khan etc,, and then late this year or early next, look for Floyd...
If they really thought canelo was the next big PPv star, why rush him, especially at his age,,, just look at Vargas and being thrown in with Tito way too early... Build your future cash cows slowly just like how top rank did with oscar, morales, etc
Couple of reasons:
1. Guerrero was a disaster both for sho and GBP, which has Sho as its only premium outlet. 2 of those in a row and GBP stooge Espinoza gets fired and they up sh1t creek
2. They didn't want to take any risks with Canelo before the cash out, but it was 2 years of patsies and couldn't be sustained without losing cred
Thsi is boxing. You don't risk a $12 mil payday to get a win over k9 brundage especially when he could seriusly hurt you. Get the floyd payday, then you go back and fight k9.

the cw was for the same reason every other cw was installed-because the bigger draw can use purse to create an advantage.
Canelo mentioned 150 but that wasn't it. when he said the fight had to be at 154 you knew right then floyd wasn't having that.
Canelo found out the hard way that unless you control the dough, shut your pie hole.
Canelo is still undefeated doe.
Lol i dont like floyd but you seem to make threads about him alot lmao
:haha: i'm not the one daydreaming about him 24/7
can't blame these two butthurts, they're both floyd's balls slurpers. here's more for you... :bottle: :bottle:
Guess you didn't see Oscar vs Pacroid
Floyd tends to get hostile when called out on his coward ways; whether regarding ducking or these shady weight tricks he does (like what he did to Marquez for his first fit at WW). Fact is, Canelo looked dead drained at the weigh in. I managed to cancel bets I had placed on him with some friends and they were okay with it. He went intbubo that fight drained, without energy.
Floyd fought Oscar at the division required weight. But when Oscar fought Pacroid he had ok drain himself c or this roid user. But here you are crying about 2lbs. Canelo & his people need to keep their mouths shut and stop asking for thinsg so BMAF'S like you can stop crying. ....

Must we listen to you spewing your Floyd Vagina monologues in every thread?
Wtf do you mean canelo always came in under 154 before never at the actual limit
Well I guess 2 or 3 ounces shy of 154 still counts as coming in under the limit huh, and I guess it's also the same thing as losing 2 extra pounds of water and nutrients from a body that is already at peak weight.

In and out of the ring the coward is always on a defensive mode. :usa2:
Thats the interesting thing. (although i disagree about him being a coward) He is such a sensitive flower. He has that trigger reaction to any attack, whether it be a punch or a verbal criticism.
Maybe if he was less of a touchy defensive douche, he wouldnt be such a genius in the ring. Thats his make up.
But the contradiction with him is how he is so in control of himself in the ring. Super disciplined and focused. Yet outside of the ring, he has no control over what he says or his emotions.
The sad thing is that Canelo signed the contract when he was 22 years old. He didn't know any better and floyd took full advantage. Also Floyd is actually bigger than Canelo in terms of height and arm reach so after the 152 catchweight, literally everything was in floyds favor.
Canelo looked like Matthew Mcconaughey in Dallas Buyers Club
Respectfully I disagree. There is NO reason to pity Alvarez - I'm sure Alvarez at this level has a sound team (i.e., managers and lawyers) that have a fiduciary obligation to him. They should have his best interest and are compensated to help him through the negotiation process and all the legal/contractual matters.

someone who doesn't want to take a loss yet. I always thought GB coulda let it marinate a lil bit more, get canelo on PPV against someone like kirkland/angulo/molina (they tried to do that with pwill) but i guess the fight had to be made THEN like sugar adam ali said because canelo is only going to go up in weight. a year from now he could be at 160

YOu can interpret it anyway you choose. I'm sure you don't view all CW's in that vain. Was chavez a punk for unifying with sweet pea at a CW? Never mind-you're a good poster so you get my point.
For the same reason tim stayed at TR-because $12 mil in the hand is better than risking it and losing and not getting that high a payday.
If you were Canelo, you'd have done the exact same thing. the whole point of Canelo throwing 150 out there was to get the fight. The whole point of saying 154 was to help make the CW a selling point IMO.
Yo, ALi, you're a smart dude. who the **** passes up floyd at 152 for K9 at 154?

Yeah, thats all fine,, still means floyd was kinda a punk and scared of canelo at 154...
True, Canelo's handlers are to blame,,why the hell would they agree to that, Canelo was his only big ppv opponent left for floyd at the time...
If i was Canelo, i would have told floyd to F#ck off, and its either 154 or nothing,,
Floyd would have no choice unless he wanted to keep headlining crappy ppv main events like ghost, khan, etc.
Canelo brought alot of money,, there was no need for him to cave to floyd's demands and give up his advantages,, they should have just kept canelo active and fought guys like trout, k9, cotto, angulo, etc.....

Not a Floyd fan here but respect his abilities.
That said, I can't blame him for the business - Alverez didn't have a gun to his head when he signed the contract. I use to get upset when these catch weights happen in favor of Mayweather or Pac; but the fact of the matter is - it's a business and the one that is "on top" (however you want to define that) has the most leaverage in the negotiation process. If anything Alverez should share the blame for compromising himself. At the end of the day either be dissappointed with both fighters or accept the business and understand that both agreed to it.
