Fat Dan tweeted it not too long ago. Pavlik apparently had a seizure in court and is now in the hospital. Dude threw his life away. Can't imagine he'll live but a few more years the way he's going.

That may be true, but it might also be common among people who drink a lot of alcohol. I am not embarrassed to say that I was drinking a lot in my youth and I had a seizure myself when I was 18 years old. I wasn't drunk when I had it, but I was drinking way too much during that time. I was lying in bed when it happened and it felt as if I was going unconscious while I was trying to fight it. I guess my blood pressure was going down fast.
Later I stopped getting drunk and I had never had a seizure since. So I personally do believe it had to do with my drinking and the doctor also asked me about alcohol consume.
I had the same thing happen to me from about 18-20 yrs old. I had like 3 or 4. Stopped drinking hard liquor. Seizures went away. I was never drunk at the time so I never really thought that to be the problem...
This is common for someone trying to detox. If that's the case.

Alcohol is the worst to kick
Yup, the body doesn't like it when one goes cold turkey, of anything and in some cases it can be fatal.
I'd rather he had it from that though rather than all the punches. That would be more serious. Hope he gets well.
Damn, and it was thought generally that Kelly exited early to ensure he left with his health intact...unfortunate to hear, regardless of whether it's a problem with addiction or his boxing career catching up with him. :boxing:
Why are people assuming alcohol caused this? The man was punched on the head for a living.
Exactly. Alcohol probably had nothing to do with it. His old profession is the most likely cause. Just because he has a very tough chin does not mean the brain wasn't getting shaken around.
Never touch alcohol.
no! I drink the stuff, don't touch it.... Or: Drunk get arrested for drinking Judge sees him for the third time that month recognizes him and says "Your here for drinking!" Drunk says "Yes, can we get started?"
This is a shame to hear. I hope he can put his demons to rest before it's too late. As someone already posted, I too hope that he has someone close to him that is willing to stick through his trouble with him, see him to the other side of it all.
This isn't actually the first time it happened. It first happened to him a week after Ward pull out of the fight. He claimed it's why he retired. Don't think it has anything to do with alcohol. Probabably because of the years spent getting hit on the head.

I grew up around people who got f*cked up all the time, and it thankfully scared me away from it all. I'm just glad my parents got away from those people as well.
You can only hope Pavlik has someone in his life that can straighten him out.
I know many alcoholics who had seizures if they went without a drink for a few days. one old friend couldn't go a few hours without one. 90 days in detox with serious convulsions, seizures & vomit. once you hit that point it's tough to quit. just like a junkie...maybe it was other reasons. I don't know if his boozing was that bad.
