I'm sure many of you have heard in the past that Wlad has wanted to take part in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and regain the gold medal that he won at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, a 20 year difference. It seems to have been confirmed that pro boxers will be allowed to take part in the Olympic boxing, and Wladimir has been making noise about wanting that second gold medal for a while now...seems to be pretty serious about it now too...
So, if he does go on and compete in the games, I assume he will retire from the pros? Is this a good idea? Will it/how will it impact his legacy? Who should he fight if he only has 2 years left in the pros?

"I'm definitely going to take part in the Olympics, if at that time I still have the health and motivation. There are still two and a half years before the Olympics - on the one hand, this may seem like an eternity, and on the other, it will pass very quickly "
They should allow top pros in the Olympics. Wlad will have to face some styles he doesn't have to face as a pro and holding will get him disqualified. I really doubt he goes through with this.
God knows...even if it did happen, amateur boxing is more about constantly working and working, trying to outland your opponent and get those points...would a 40 year old Wlad still have the stamina and skills to beat up elite amateurs, even taking into account his advantages on paper? Not sure.
BTW - the more I think about his quote, it's easy to think it could have been spun a certain way...he has said in the past he is totally up for it but obviously only if he was allowed. I think this is the case here - "I will definitely take part in the Olympics, if I have the health and motivation (and of course if I am allowed to enter)" That's my opinion on the layer of meaning embedded beneath his literal quote...As he would be past the age and fight limit, I highly doubt it will happen, but at the same time you can't rule anything out these days...we will see. :boxing:

what would happen if some pros lost to amateurs in the olympic trials do they get a loss on their pro record?
I don't think so...I suppose the whole point of it is allowing pro boxers to fight in an amateur competition, hence it would not affect the pro record - how could it? Completely different regulations and both fighters would at the very least have to be pro. :boxing:
Should be an age limit of 30 anyway... who needs crazy Cuban amateurs who try to win like 10 Olympic games in a row to beat some dumb record.
Olympics is an event to showcase new talent, not 40 year old freaks.
what a scumbag
no shocker to see klit fans defending stupidity
Steady on son...
Clearly, the idea is pretty dumb and the organisations in charge should not, and hopefully/likely, will not, allow it to happen.
I don't think anyone here, fan or not, has said anything that really endorses it or encourages it, the maximum extent I have seen is that people say it would be an interesting accomplishment (on paper anyway).
In any case, it's just a dream of his - everyone is entitled to one, if anyone is/are scumbags it would be the governing bodies who would allow him to compete as an exception to the general rules. Otherwise, he hasn't exactly committed a crime by stating a dream...for whatever reason he wants it, and he has been talking about it for ages, this isn't like it's something new.
The majority of Grabimir's professional resume is based on beating up pitiful amateurs. This turn of events doesn't make much difference.
I have to laugh at every Klitlicking fool on this thread who are praising him. I guarantee that if Grabimir had come out in this thread shooting down the prospect of him at the Olympics because it was unfair, EVERY Klitlicker would agree with that too.
Hilarious.
Cuban has only been fighting other amateurs, which are all inexperienced compared to Wlad. Wlad has been fighting pros, which are more experienced than the cuban amateurs.
I can't see that they would allow Wlad and only Wlad to take part, that would be a stupid move...if it's open to pros i'm sure there will be pros who take part - notable I don't think, Wlad I presume would only get in on the basis of him probably retiring from the sport and wanting a swansong way to head out, and give publicity to the sport. Younger but experienced pros would likely not put their career on hold for that, it's mainly IMO for those fighters, as I stated, that had limited amateur careers and being in the early stages of the pros, and possibly for those who didn't get into the Olympics before.
Why do so many people think this is unfair and Wlad would destroy everybody? It's not pro boxing.... I bet Wlad won't win. My money would be on a 25-30 year old Cuban who's been boxing in the amateurs his entire life.

Wlad is late 30's but late 30s these days isnt the same as it used to be because everyone is using gear.
Wlad will be in there with a bunch of 17-23 year olds knocking all of them out or jabbing them to death. They dont have a chance.
Is it a coincidence Cuba always does so good when they have older more experienced guys? of course it isnt.

It would be different...bearing in mind the points are based on clean and effective punching. Wlad would have advantages in terms of power, experience and just a more refined skill set probably, although one thing to note is that generally the guys fighting at super heavy in the olympics are legit big guys, physically the fights would be more or less fair or well matched in physical terms, in regards to a comparison for instance with the pros where you have former cruiserweights or just out of shape guys etc. The thing is, now it's going to be no headguard, this will give a big advantage to Wlad...these amateurs will never have experienced getting hit clean like that, it could well make it a mismatch (even more of).
If he goes back to the olympics it would be a ****ing joke. Olympic boxing isn't for professionals. His experience and traning alone are far more than any opponent he would likely face.
He's gonna beat Aerreola, WIlder, probably Jennings before he retires, unless wilder catches him with some lucky sh1t.
But the notion he'd go back to the olympics is disgraceful
Wilder will get caught and stopped before that happens. ***** fighter.
Don't allow Wlad to pick on amateurs.. some people here rate him a Top 10 HW. We can't seriously let him get a free medal. The transition from Am to Pros exist for a reason.
