Great fighter who never really got beat in the same way some of the ATGs got beat (like Ali, Wlad, Lennox, Tyson, Holmes...)
Although he achieved a lot he is underachiever.
I'll remember him mainly for his chin and the tricky hook/uppercut/jab chameleon punches he would throw (some shown in slow motion highlights vs arreola).
I liked his style much more than Wlad's, always thought he would beat Wlad, but I guess if you're older and plagued by injuries you step aside for little bro.
Understand that being neither british, american nor black he has popularity issues on NSB, will always remember how mad u got bro.
Good champion who wanted more for his brother than he wanted for himself.
Gave out some beatings and gave us the last great heavyweight fight.
he gave us huck - povetkin?
I will always remember Vitali as a righteous big brother that took care of business when his lil' bro got beat up by a bully.
War Dr Iron Fist! :boxing:
Quite simply, Vitali was one of the most feared heavyweights of all time, not anywhere near the greatest but feared most definitely. It's just a matter of circumstance that he never got the Lewis rematch and the fight ended the way it did and that Vitali, as champion, feasted on ordinary opponents. Just as the division is picking up again, Vitali reached the age of retirement.
He was a potentially great fighter in a mediocre time.
I laughed and almost picked the first option but then I saw the other 3.
Vitali had a 4 year layoff, came back and EASILY won a piece of the heavyweight title inside the distance. Joe ****in Louis couldn't do that, and he was Joe ****in LOUIS for God's sake. ALI couldn't do that.
If he's ATG, top 20, whatever, he's a true fighter and a great champion.
Watch the god damn Klitschko documentary and say to yourself him and Wladamir didn't earn their spot. Wladamir's on top of the world, hugging povetkin for lunch and ****ing beth cooper after dinner.
Vitali met fear and took it's virginity, didn't even pay the tab after.
Champion x 2 = Klitschkos
lol, evidently you don't know much about the careers of either louis or ali, who had periods of inactivity due to the american military.
louis was drafted during WW2. ali refused the draft in 1967, and was denied a boxing license until the 70's.
they enjoyed success after their time off.
I'll remember him as a guy who created the unique boxing fan group called "Brittards". Joeyzagz was one of the founding members of this organisation.
Joe Calzaghe? Really?
I actually thought it was a serious thread. Then I read TS's post... Sad stuff...
Anyway, I will remember Vitali as the guy who gave the entire boxing world a huge reality check vs Sam Peter. I can't even begin to describe how satisfying it was to watch. Amazing how many "experts" were picking Peter to win.
head to head he would have beat lewis and byrd if not for the fact that he forgot his head to head skills in the locker room. gotta blame his trainer for that one. spit bucket check, mouth piece check, towel check, head to head skills.....fu-kk........
