I used to think Floyd was faster but taking a look at this counter left in the Rio's fight, Manny seems to be at least just as fast or very close to Floyd's speed:

Now, if you say Floyd is faster than Manny, is his speed enough to neutralize the speed and punches of Manny, especially considering Manny throws a lot of punches
You're possibly the worst poster on here. Has nacho fought Pacquiao or Floyd?

Here you go :bottle:
Marquez thinks Floyd would win, but Manny hits harder and faster
/thread
Do you seriously think Nacho isn't dialed into the handspeed of JMM opponents
Ok, third question:
Has either Manny or Floyd faced a fighter that was faster than either of them?
Zab Judah was faster than Floyd but Floyd beat him with ring I.Q. and timing.
Pacquiao is not faster than Mayweather. Pacquiao throws alot more combos that appear faster but there's no way he has more speed . He does have great foot speed but again Mayweather's footwork is faster. That's long been one of those myths out there that they're equal in speed or Pacquiao is faster. The only advantage I've ever given Pacquiao is punching power, but that's about it.
 JMM said Manny is faster and hits harder.
Have you fought Floyd or Manny?
My god lmfao
Manny is about as fast as Khan, so yes he is faster than Floyd
However Floyd has fast hands and impeccable timing, its hard to read his punches, he masks everything
Very good post,
regardless of who's actually faster from a standstill position, I agree with your analysis of Pac's style, especially the part regarding feints, his foot and head movement.
About his lunging in , do you agree with it being a double edged sword?.
Agree with the lunging. He puts a lot of power into his rushes and that's what JMM was feasting on. He also has sloppy footwork so he'll throw with awkward footing and end up having to reset. He get away with it vs most because they're too slow to make him pay or dont have the poise and timing to stand their ground and/or counter. He can land a bunch of scoring blows though with a lot of forward momentum and he has good snap so it accumulates quickly. Double edged indeed, especially from that southpaw stance.

Floyds counters are faster, same with his reflexes but when it comes to putting combos together Manny is clearly faster.
Floyd doesn't really put any combos together anymore but if you want to see Floyd throwing hard fast combos then the Gatti fight is the best example.
Pacman is faster, but Floyd's timing and reflexes are quicker.
Floyd is almost like a scaredy cat when he fights, any feint you give him he will move his head back fast, his reaction time is second to none, he fights very scared that is why he is so good with his defense. Watch his pull backs, when he counters and someone feints without throwing a punch he falls for it every time he is not going to take a chance and get hit he moves out and moves his head back with the quickness to avoid getting hit even if their is no punch, he will flinch every time.
Pacman on the other hand never moves his head back, this is a big flaw, he just lets guys hit him, I don't get it, he has very fast hands and feet, but his reflexes are crappy, he gets hit a lot for a fast guy, kinda reminds me of meldrick taylor who was very fast combo puncher but got hit a lot for a fast guy.
fast reflex hands down goes to floyd
fast hands down goes to manny
i hope floyd vs khan goes 12 rounds so i could see floyd vs speed and someone who has the stamina to go full 12
.
Pac uses a lot of movement, particularly his head. As hes bobbing from side to side he's also stepping in. Half the time they dont realise how close he is because he's still moving and from that southpaw stance when he sways left he seems further than he is as he's leaning away from a right handers line of sight but as soon as he sways right, he's halfway inside and only has to let the left hand go and its not traveling very far at all. Pac doesnt get enough credit for his head feints. Pac's spee comes from how fast he can shuffle his feet (ie: fast, powerful steps) and keeping the speed up as he throws. Kind of like a snowball, if you let him get going it gets out of hand. He IS quick normally but not quite as fast as Floyd in terms of leapin ability or single punches or reflexes.
I wouldnt say Pac is more explosive as Floyd has explosive speed and timing too but Pac utilizes it differently. But in terms of getting to point b from a then I got Floyd. Pac has powerful legs that carry a LOT of momentum so Pac would be getting to point c with authority.

I agree,
Manny has faster hands, but Floyd is more technically sound.
Mayweather sets up his shots and his body mechanics are more efficient. He does indeed anticipate his opponent, gaining momentum and making his hands look even faster than they already are.
In terms of raw speed, Manny had and probably still has an edge.
His movements though are less efficient, he doesn't always punch at the right time, from the right distance, from the "correct" angle.
For Manny that's a double edged sword, while his offense is not easy to figure out due to his way of using angles and suddenly move in, it also leads him to 'mistakes', for instance his tendency to lunge in as he throws his double right jab ( often followed by a straight left).
Thats half right. The other half is why I disagree. Floyd sets up his punches andthus does seem faster BUT! From a standstill, peekaboo stance floyd has faster shots than pac. No movement, just a punch. The other half being that while Floyd sets his up, Pac does as well with feints. Its not Pac's raw punching speed itself. The reason his lead left seems so fast often is that he is leaning INTO it before he throws it (meaning his left doesnt have to fully extend ahead of him) Pac uses a lot of movement, particularly his head. As hes bobbing from side to side he's also stepping in. NOW you respect JMM's opinion? Don't you people call him all kinds of names when he says he believes he won every single fight against Pacquiao? lmao :lol1:
 now this children is what we call 'reaching'
:bottle: because you're a good sport you can have that
I don't even think Floyd's single shots are faster. His counters are often premeditated. If you rematch fights, you can see where he's setting up his opponent or preparing to counter, which shaves time off.
