Probably the cleanest and purest form of defensive, counterpunching mastery? There's seldom a clinch to be found in Rigo's world, it's an unnecessary tactic when you possess that level of footwork. Rigondeaux gonna range find, own the center of the ring, control and maintain distance, smash you with hard precise counters and sneaky leads while dipping in-and-out of range whenever and however he sees fit. There's really nobody else in the world that wins more rounds while taking less punishment. He's sort of beautifully one-dimensional in a way that he boxes very judiciously to his strengths, very rarely if ever deviates from that and forcibly implements his style on opponents. He owns distance like few I ever seen, and he doesn't even need an elite jab to do it. The amount of pop he generates in his shots is something quite rare for such a defensive minded pugilist: forget about getting your respect, he'll deter you from even wanting to let your hands go.
Great post .

Great video! I like how Lampley said he wanted to see more and how they were in such awe of him beating Donaire. Fast forward a couple of short months later and everyone was trying to discredit him calling him boring because he beat HBO's cash cow. Boxing politics sicken me sometimes. Can't wait to see him fight again! :boxing:
I think Katie Taylor called him that before because she couldn't hit him when they were sparring
Must have been even weirder when she found out she was pregnant with Rigo's baby afterwards.
A good video production can make anyone look good; but if you're great, like Rigo, it can make you look otherworldly. That was nice work.
BTW, I got a kick out of Lampley's comments: "I'm convinced. I'm buying. I want to see more whenever I can." Oh, my, how times have changed. lol
Best boxer in the world. Also always has the best trunks in the sport, jumps rope backwards, raps, and smoke cigarettes. All around bad ass.
Smokes? I've never seen him smoke when I was down at Hialeah when he was still with Jorge.
