Solomon Haumono, a former rugby league star, will join Sydney-based Tongan Bowie Tupou and Las Vegas-based Romanian giant Razvan Cojanu as Alex Leapai starts three months of hard preparation for his historic fight world title fight with Wladimir Klitschko.
"All three are great sparring partners,'' said Leapai's trainer Noel Thornberry.
"Solomon is very fluent in his style and has a great right hand like Klitschko. Bowie is 120kg of muscle and very strong to work in close and Razvan is 2m tall, like Klitschko, with good skills.
"Together the three will give Alex fantastic preparation.''
Haumono was hoping to fight unbeaten Sydney heavyweight Lucas Browne in Melbourne on April 3 in the first all-Aussie Commonwealth heavyweight scrap since Peter Jackson beat Paddy Slavin 122 years ago.
But Browne's promoter, the British boxing legend Ricky Hatton said: ``While negotiations with Haumono's team have taken place, the fight was never finalised.
"Hatton Promotions' Australian representatives have been informed by Main Event Pay Per View that the (Browne-Haumono) bout could be given PPV status in the near future, but a suggested date of April 3 isn't suitable as the network's schedule is already fully booked.
"As such, we feel that a Browne v Haumono fight should take place at a time which is more financially beneficial to all parties concerned. However, it must be stressed that Haumono is just one of the options available to Browne at this time.''
"Following his stunning fifth round stoppage of England's Richard Towers in November, Lucas is the only boxer guaranteed a shot at the Commonwealth title vacated by David Price.''
Browne is looking at big money fights in Britain against two of their leading heavyweights Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora.

All that proves is that this guy is a bum and Boystov was an uber bum.
That very well may be the case but I hardly think Wlad forced the eliminator bout in the first place and being committed to defending 3 titles in today's world of bull**** ABC rankings means fighting Alex Leapai.
I would be much more critical of guys who are determined to fight for the WBC belt thinking that makes them a champion when they could pick up the phone and get a fight with Wladimir if they really wanted to.
Would it be a disgrace if he were fighting an undefeated Boytsov?
I don't think anyone would complain too much about that fight so it's hard to complain too much about him fighting the guy who beat the undefeated Boytsov.

Plus let's be honest - the most compelling opponents for Wlad are all falling over each other trying to get the WBC belt and avoid Wlad at all costs.
I'm guessing they want to give reasonably easy meat to put him in a false mental state of preperation - "Oh, I destroyed all my sparring partners! Let me get in there and just do the same thing to the heavyweight champ!"
I sense it's gonna be a rude and painful awakening for Leapai in this fight. :boxing:
Well tbh there is no way to get a sparring partner to prepare you for Klitschko so you may as well do it on the cheap.
After all this is nothing but a retirement payday for Leapai. Regardless of what he says he doesn't expect to win and any money he spends on hopeless preparation is money out of his pocket that he would have to earn someday doing a blue collar hourly wage job.
Not really suitable preparation for Wlad, IMO.
