I have no doubt in my mind that Canelo vs Angulo will be a very competitive fight.
First off, Lara is a better counter puncher than Canelo, he's faster, craftier, and uses great movement around the ring.
Still, Angulo was able to pound Lara to the body and drop him twice with the follow-up left hook to the chin. Canelo barely throws any punches and does not have the footwork/stamina to stay away from Angulo for 12 rounds.
I know anything can happen in a boxing match and that is what makes boxing such a great sport, but we have yet to see anybody come at Canelo for all 12 rounds, pound that body, and test that chin.
I'm excited for this fight, not picking a winner!
Canelo is technically way too sound and big for Angulo to have any lasting success. I would be shocked if this fight didn't go exactly how the Canelo-Gomez fight went.
Gomez didnt belong at 54. Maybe you're referring to the speed or skill differential, but Canelo ain't overpowering Angulo by no means...
Angulo followed his game plan really well against Lara, which is obviously difficult to do due to his craftiness. I expect him to stalk Canelo all night long and beat him to the body. If Canelo tries what you think he will, like in the Gomez fight (laying on the ropes doing the shoulder roll) he will get KO'd. Angulo has KO power behind his shots.
No, I mean powerful head hunter with quick hands, not a skin twerp body puncher with no knockout power, you know the usual Mexican fighter.....derrrr.
I don't really, lots of Mexicans have KO power to the head or body, and shown against better comp than Canelo. Remind me, when has he shown this power? Couldn't drop a shot undersized Mosley who wasn't even running like vs Pac. Lara hurt Trout worse, and Lara's no power puncher.
We'll see what Angulo has left for punch resistance, you never know with guys who get smacked around like he has. If Alvarez can't make Angulo stop in his tracks, he's going to have a hard night. He's not a mover, and doesn't have that good defense.
You mean poor stamina and workrate, iffy chin, lacking the warrior mentality? Oh and the red hair.

What do you mean you don't know what people see in him? Maybeeeee when he was Domo ating boxers since the age of 19 with a combination of power and speed that Mexico hasn't seen since possibly De La Hoya (I know he's American but still, of Mexican descent.) The fact that he fights more like a Mike Tyson and not a JCC and only weighs 150 lbs. Maybe the fact that he's near nothing like most of all boxers that come from Mexico???
Look, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a big Canelo fan but the traits that people see in him are beyond obvious.

I don't think much of Canelo and am favoring Angulo to ko him, don't know what people see in Canelo which makes him such a favorite to win.

Finally someone who is speaking from the mind, not a heart filled with hate (for Canelo.)
canelo has mostly fought smaller men and only a few actual true 154 pounders in his entire career. Angulo knocks him out. His managers know something we dont. maybe he gets hurt in sparring a lot or something. Theyve avoided putting him in with guys his size who can punch, probably for a reason.

i bet angulo's eye is still fuk-ked up or something like marg was going into the cotto fight. i bet the fight is stopped by the ref or doctor after it swells a tad.
Glad, we ain't on bad terms.
This right here (the bold) is what makes me anticipate a brutal beating pending for Canelo...
Alrighty man, no hard feelings despite of what might have been said in the past... by my part at least.
I'll respect your opinion when it comes to the whole Mayweather / Pacquiao situation and let it be.
And I hope so. His diva ways of demanding all of his fights to be on PPV this year really make it easy to want to see him get KOd.
I don't think this one is going to the cards. Angulo is going to either KO Canelo or get KOed trying. That is what is making me anticipate this fight. So what, if they are both coming off losses. The Mayweather fight was boring, the Mayweather 800 meter invitational indoor run.
This fight will be much more exciting. I think Canelo has got the skills and fortitude to win, but it will certainly be one of his sternest tests.
Angulo is pretty underrated technically. He's just so slow. Canelo's speed advantage will be a huge factor. One thing I know is Angulo's chin will hold up and there's no way he quits again. More than likely a Canelo decision.
Its also funny to Me how everyone HERE is saying that Canelo hasn't fought anyone while they want to crown Maidana king who was at one point a few punches from getting knocked by Josesito Lopez, whom Canelo made look like the most amatuer of amatuer fighters, nullifying Lopez power by having a lot more of his own. His power is dangerous, he put Trout on his ass with a right cross. There's a ton of Canelo haters here....that's discouraging.
You mean the Josesito that came up what two weight classes to fight Canelo? Awesome win there. Maidana wound up beating the crap out of Lopez didn't he? You know ko'ing him along with soto karass. Should be a good fight no way in hell is this a PPV but whatever. I could see either fighter winning this fight.

If you guys Dont see a lopsided victory for Canelo then you guys are smoking too much Angeldust. Fact. This is a made to order fighter for the stronger quicker Canelo. Possibly the strongest fighter in that division. He will give him angles and box his way to a lopsided victory. Canelo doesnt sport Laras glass-jaw, and is naturally bigger than Lara so that is a terrible assessment to judge this fight of a fighters performance against another fighter. You have to match THESE TWO fighters head to head, not what any one of them has done against other fighters. That's asinine. And I COULD be wrong PODSIBLY. However, this is an obvious calculation from knowing both boxers strengths going head to head. Not what they have done against other fighters.
In all honesty, you're not a bad poster at all. It's just your strong dislike towards Pacquiao (or that his fan base may cause) and your love for Mayweather that clash with my stance on them.
You made a very good point on Lara too, not only is he craftier but IMHO he is technically more fundamentally sound than Canelo. He is a more difficult fighter to touch up than Canelo is, a more difficult style to crack. Angulo's pressure is so suffocating that he managed to knock down twice a finesse, more fundamentally educated fighter in Lara which is impressive. He had Lara looking very uncomfortable the entire fight.
Angulo for as one dimensional and caveman like as he might be as a fighter has two huge attributes that will always pose a threat to anyone; immense WILL and apparently, DYNAMITE in those punches. Not to mention this is a make or break fight for Angulo's future so needless to say the hunger and motivation will definitely be there as well.

Ok? I guess you're one if the few that take my occasional sarcasm to heart. Mellow out...
With that said, I agree with your post 100%...we may finally see Canelo deal with adversity or he might show us that he is a good fighter indeed. I don't know how I feel about him after he showed absolutely nothing against Floyd.
Here's hoping for an exciting fight!
