Maybe Brooks is right, Wladimirs hands look slower than Tysons but he has much longer hands and thats the reason he looks slower. That doesnt change the fact that prime Tyson would knock Wladdi out though.
it's not true at all that wladimir has faster hands than tyson.
tyson's combinations and big punches off of pivots and head movement were lightning fast.
Not so sure about that but Wladimir definitely has very underrated handspeed especially for such a giant. That straight right hand is a lightning bolt.
Aye. He's a lot faster than people make out.
David Haye and Eddie Chambers both commented on his deceptively fast footwork and hand-speed.
Tommy Brooks was a hired YES MAN trainer for an unmotivated and out of control Tyson. While Tommy may be right, I also don't think he truly trained Mike anywhere near his peak skills dedication or desire to win, so based on those factors, he may be right...but Prime Tyson had faster hands, C'mon lmao
It really does depend. The thing is Tyson because of the length of his arms would get to the target first from a hypothetical starting point.
wlad's handspeed compares favorably to a prime henry akwindade. he can grab and hold you before you even realize it.
But he did not show the passion Akwindade did...Wasn't Henry sort of crying? or was that Oliver love hugs Mccall? Then again Povetkin does not have the cherub like face and big brown sad eyes of Lewis that makes one want to just give him a hug with gloves on!

I don't know how technical Brooks was getting and I profess I did not want to watch the vid (lag lag lag in the mornings here with Comcast).
Actual speed versus quickness often is misunderstood in my opinion. It would not suprise me in the least if Brooks was correct. The thing is what actually makes a punch work well has a lot to do with the mechanics more than raw speed. Tyson was explosive, deceptive and powerful but in terms of actual speed? well he had shorter arms as well meaning his punch travelled less distance to target on average.
Mayweather is another one who is quick but not really fast the way a guy like Jones was in his prime.
Which version of Tyson are we talking about?
This version?
There's no way Wlad compares to this kind of speed - but it's virtually impossible because of his natural build. He's very quick for his size though, mostly on his feet. But his jab-right hand of early 2000s were very quick and powerful as well.
His jab-right clinch is pretty quick too nowadays.
Brooks trained a very young Wladimir and a past it Tyson. Maybe he did see that. Tyson's combinations show that he is maybe the fast puncher at 220+ as anyone's seen. Wlad might be the fastest notable 240-250+ puncher. That's probably why when he fights guys who are about the same size they get it worse than backfoot average or smaller heavies. We keep hearing complaints that Wlad's too big but look how bad he gives it to guys his size. Jameel McCline, Derek Jefferson, Ray Austin, Wlad was too athletic for all of these guys. Hands, feet, reflexes, too quick, too coordinated. They did not know how to deal it. David Haye, one of the quickest heavies could not catch Wlad because his foot speed, reflexes and coordination are f**king crazy for a guy his size.
Got it in one!
Prime Tyson was rather faster than any version of Wlad.
Can Grabimir Clinchko throw 5 punches in a second? Does he throw combos?
He barely throws a right hand, the word "combos" isn't in his vocabulary.
clearly u didnt watch that youtube video. he didnt have any problem throwing combos in that fight. he just chooses not to anymore unfortunately
keep in mind most of the people laughing are thinking specifically of combos. Sure Tyson has faster combos but that's mostly because Wlad doesn't even throw any damn combos. Secondly Tyson has much shorter arms which allows him to pull off combos and hooks faster but in terms of throwing one shot down the pipe or something who knows, Wlad could maybe be up there in speed
