When Broner first lost to Maidana the powers that be at GBP were quick to sh*t on the idea of a rematch because they knew (like everyone else) that it was a terrible idea.
GBP also thought that Amir Khan would be floated as an opponent to Floyd and that boxing fans would be happy to hear it. They never imagined that Maidana would not only beat Broner, but endear himself to fans in a way that Khan never will.
Now that GBP has floated the Khan fight and fans have voiced their displeasure and made clear a preference for seeing Maidana get the opportunity they are suddenly all about Adrien Broner fighting Marcos Maidana again ASAP.
What happened here is simple:
GBP and Broner have decided they can save face by signing for the Maidana fight which also favors their business interests in that it clears the way for announcing Floyd-Khan with the built in excuse that Maidana was out of reach because of his rematch with AB.
GBP and Broner agree up front that Broner signs the fight to c0ckblock Maidana with the intent of simply pulling out with a back injury in a months time.
GBP of course promises Broner that if he does this for them they reward him with a another nice undeserved payday.
Ha...clever theory but in no way Floyd would fight maidana even though it's 20 times better than a khan fight. Floyd was gonna fight khan no matter what the broner maidana outcome was. Floyd and khan was probably arranged way before canelo that's why khan hasn't fought in a year. He don't want to ruin a big payday like he did against Peterson.
No true boxing fans want to see Floyd vs Maidana, only the casual fans who don't really know much about the sport. Real fans are well aware that Maidana would be an easier fight than Canelo and Guerrero combined whereas Khan at least offers an interesting stylistic twist as a Mayweather opponent. Maidana is an overly simplistic fight for Floyd and not to mention Khan already beat him anyway.
So the truth is that all knowledgeable boxing fans are firmly against a Maidana fight, it only appeals to the casual fans who don't have even a rudimentary understanding of the sport. I guess it's a good way to gauge how well you know boxing - if you want to watch that fight you don't know much about boxing. I've reached a conclusion that it's the people who believed Broner was the next Floyd without actually thinking about it and analyzing their styles for themselves. Broner has never been anywhere near Floyd's level, he doesn't possess anything close to his skillset, his smarts and his dedication.
Causals pay $70 for fight without complaining hardcore boxing fans find every excuse to stream a fight. Most fights are sold to the so call casual fan. But but both would sell decent enough.

The fact is Khan Floyd will do just fine and it's only racist/religious haters that can't see it will be a fun fight to watch.
It's also only the morons who bought into the Broner hype that think Beating him is any sort of decent win and that Maidana would win a round against Floyd.
I don't see how Broner is retarded for wanting to avenge his loss; no matter how it it spun he lost cleanily but he was not utterly dominated where its was 119-106 decision. I can see it as the co-main event to Floyd vs Khan with Mares vs Gonzalez 2 also on the undercard.
WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING CONFIRMED FOR NEXT FIGHT. NOT A RIVAL, NOT A DATE. NOW IT'S RESTING TIME AND EVALUATION OF BEST OPTIONS.— Marcos René Maidana (@ChinoMaidana) enero 11, 2014
Was there really a rematch clause?
Rematch clauses are usually standard when a champion takes on a fighter who is not their mandatory challenger so yes I'd assume there was one.

Mayweather and Khan was already a done deal long before the Maidana-Broner fight. When the Khan-Alexander fight was called off it was plain as day than Khan-Mayweather was going to happen and Schaefer didn't want to risk Khan losing to Alexander. Schaefer had been talking about what a good fight Mayweather-Khan would be for months. After Maidana beat up Broner he was never in the running for the Mayweather fight for even one minute. Mayweather-Khan was already set in stone. Mayweather and Schaefer tried to make it look like they had not decided between Khan and Maidana to give the impression they were trying to get Mayweather the best possible fight. They were lying. Khan-Mayweather was a done deal long before the Broner-Maidana fight took place.
aside from the few khan fans that came out of the woodwork when a floyd fight was first brought up, it was damn near unanimous that no one gave two hits and a **** about that fight.
Unanimous on where? NSB?
Of course, Broner want the rematch. He got embarrassed. Don't really know why this is a huge deal. Most fighters want immediate rematches. It's normal. They have huge egos. Maidana wanted an immediate rematch with Khan. He didn't get it. That's what pisses the Argentinian.

Khan-Mayweather is simply a bigger fight worldwide. Just because NSB is unhappy about the fight doesn't mean it won't be a success
True the numbers will be higher for Khan Vs Mayweather the build up to the fight wouldn't be boring hence more numbers on views and the actual fight would be alot more competitive aswell I reckon its a very smart option.
Possible.. but more likely Broner is just a bona fide idiot. Authentically autistic.. reprehensibly retarded... etc etc.
Sounds very likely.
Totally plausible scenario in the world of boxing.... But i doubt that is what happened..
If broner had beaten maidana, we would still be getting floyd-khan
Always wondered why they are in a hurry to make maidana-broner 2, but not lucas-danny 2 which was a much more competitive fight IMO
It's because the money guy won in that fight and not in the Broner fight . I would also like to see Danny /Lucas 2
OP is reaching. I personally know that Broner and his camp wanted the rematch no less than a couple days after he got beat. This is nothing new and is no elaborate scheme.

Yep, totally correct. Maidana was never going to get this fight in May, if he mans up n whoops Broner one more time he almost 100% will be Floyds September fight
