The reason why Maidana doesn't want an immediate rematch in April

Contursi also says in the article linked in this thread that if Chino can't get the Floyd fight, Broner is the best option for him. So we shouldn't think they don't want the rematch. They apparently haven't given up the Floyd race. I don't think the rematch is good for Broner though.

Maidana can simply say that he is having a child and have the date moved. If he doesn't grant Broner's rematch clause he loses his title. He signed a contract. Your personal feelings in this matter doesn't matter. You see a clear cut win. Boxing fans who are true fans want to see a rematch. Champion have been knocked out and come back in rematches and dominated. Terry Norris was ktfo by Simon Brown. Look what happened in the rematch.

If they really are strong arming then just fake an injury and spend time with the family.

Fans should object to an immediate rematch. It will always be there. It would be more interesting if Broner is matched up with guys like Matthysse, Guerrero, Berto, Ortiz, Peterson, Alexander, etc. for his next fight. Mind you, these guys are also coming off loses.

No the problem is most people would rather see Mayweather Khan, than Mayweather Maidana. Most people on this forum might want to see Mayweather Maidana more, but we're not representative of the public at all. Khan is the one with hundreds of thousands of dedicated fans, fans who with disposable income to waste on the fight. Maidana on the otherhand is an Argentine that brings far less audience members and money to the table. If Maidana could bring more money in than Khan, we'd be seeing Mayweather - Maidana, not May - Khan. I would disagree. han does have the english fanbase, but Maidana just killed Broner in a widely watched fight. I'll concede Khan's skillset and speed would probably cause more problems for floyd than maidana's. I just think khan has done nothing to warrant a floyd fight and I would rather it not happen.

Best thing Maidana can do is bring home a million dollars for his pregnant wife. Whether he gets that rematching Broner or holding out for a mayday then its up to him.

Thats what I think too. Maidana doesn't want a rematch right now, which is cool. But he's going to have to fight him again one way or another. Why? He beat the dog **** out of Broner. There is zero need for a rematch.

What is clearly happening is that Floyd decided he wants to fight Khan, so they need to create an excuse as to why Maidana is not available for him to fight. This makes sense and is the likely reason. Should they announce a floyd khan fight then we'll know for sure.
