Re watching this fight, after the early knockdown I think he was shocked about the hurting he can really put on this old, small, overweight man. Would have really brought to light about how much of a mismatch(or cherrypick to some of NSB posters) this really was. That fight in retrospect should never had been made.

I think he did as well.
Not at all, go watch the championship rounds, he tried to take Marquez out but again Marquez knows how to counter off of any position which is why Mayweather was careful.
Didn't realize the 11th round was such a schooling :lol1:
Yea, the whole fight was.
Mayweather does not have a kind bone in his body. He would not do anything to help Marquez out of the goodness of his heart. If he was content to box carefully to an easy win it would be because, as others have pointed out, when he went at Marquez hard Marquez was able to land good counter punches. So no I don't think Mayweather took his foot off the gas as a favor to Marquez.

Juan Manuel Marquez' optimum weight was featherweight, he was small even for lightweight but due to his exceptional great skills and talent he was able to outclass everyone at 135. When he fought Floyd it was at WW which is four divisions above Marquez' true weight class, yet Marquez was able to hang in there for all 12 rounds. Had Marquez been a true WW or Floyd a FW, the fight would have been different. Floyd should be ashamed of himself.
Excellent post! This was his first fight at the weight and he still got cheated on the scaled by Floyd who came overweight. Not to mention, this was pre-Memo as well. And still Marquez was landing some shots on Floyd that would have rattled him like Mosley did if it wasn't for the fact that Mayweather made him come up 2 weight classes.
his foot was never even on it
he clearly carried piss drinker for 12 rds
if he chose to, Floyd coulda KO'd him in the very 1st rd
he simply decided not to do it
1st round is an exaggeration, but yea he could have kept up the pace from the first 2 rounds it would have gotten ugly. After that 2nd round he didnt throw that check left hook with as much conviction for the rest of the fight.

If he would have went straight for the KO, he would have ended up getting hit and hurt. That's how JMM rolls.

He didn't take his foot off the gas, he just fought cautiously like he always does. JMM is durable seeing as how he has always gotten back up when down and has never been stopped.
No one has ever finished Marquez. Floyd, coming off a two year layoff and not being the hardest puncher in the first place was not exactly the most likely candidate to stop him. I think he went for it as much as a defensive fighter would. Juan is just tough.

I've felt this way for a while.....JMM was a very-good to GREAT win for floyd and no one can dispute this.....here's why.
1. floyd came in off of a 2 year lay-off to fight marquez
2. floyd dominated jmm better than anyone before or after.
3. after jmm lost to floyd he went on to box pak's ears off in their 3rd fight.
4. jmm then mangled pak like angry pitbull does to it's victim and left pak's lifeless body on the canvus face first.
5. when people were asked about a floyd-jmm 2(after jmm destroyed pak), people were against it.
6. even "full-fledged ww" verison of jmm said it would be the same results.
7. jmm was/is considered a great win for bradley.
now having said all that, you'll have your typical pak'tard come crying :bottle::bottle::bottle:and try to dissect/dispute these facts to fit they're gay-pak'tarded agenda but it'll be nothing but emotional rubbish......now get mad.
He didnt even have to put it on drive, he was cruising on neutral.
That was probably Mayweathers EASIEST fight of his career. Marquez looks awful when he has to be the aggressor...also mayweather was overweight at the weigh in for an advantage as well but he absolutey embarassed marquez

Stop with that ****. Floyd was at his best at JWW by that logic. Marquez can't be legit against Manny and Timmy and so on but a mismatch against Floyd. It was a ***** move on Floyd's part to not make weight, but what he showed against Marquez stands. And vice versa.
