IM so tired of him talking about fighters running.
1)how about teaching your fighters how to cut off the ring. This fighter is boring, that fighter is...who cares if they win and got skills
2) name one fighter he took from scratch and made a champion...one!
Manny was already a former champ, Tyson, Toney, , moorer,
3) listen to his instructions in the corner. If his fighter isn't winning he sounds inept
4) outside of rigondeaux who had hundreds of am fights and gold medals, defense is a liability for his fighters
5) he forces his fighters to be offensive even if their skill set or tools say otherwise....linares, Khan, etc...PAC is one of a kind, not all fighters can fight how he does
5) he forces his fighters to be offensive even if their skill set or tools say otherwise....linares, Khan, etc...PAC is one of a kind, not all fighters can fight how he does
Good point. We've all seen how much Khan has improved using a more cautious style under Hunter.
1.) Manny was unknown when Roach Got him. He isn't ATG yet. Roach developed a 2 fisted manny on the process. Manny also is Roach star Pupil
U may find roach disliking but the heck the dude was the only Trainer that could catch up with Manny with the Mits. Manny mentioned that in the interview. You may not see him talking ass round after round but He teaches his tactics during training camp.
2.) You cannot ignore Roaches skills on re-imaging a fighter that comes from losing streak. E.G. ( Miguel Cotto, Amir Con, James Toney ) all of there fighter are rekindled by Roach and So many more. Such as Tyson. So name Current Trainers who has this one?
3.) Actually it's not that roach has flaws but he also has, He is an offensive coach so He can't take a fighter who is defensive minded, they will not blend well. Seriously about cutting the ring as a topic? Every coaches teaches you how to cut the ring and I think roach does that, the problem is that the fighters don't follow it. e.g. Amir Khan - If he just follow roaches advise not to over commit in a firefight, he would have been a decent P4P player but he loves to firefight.
4.) Up and coming young stars - Provo, and other wards in him. He usually cannot handle most fighter who wants to get him as a trainer. FR is an expensive coach to hire. So FR selects his stars and the rest goes with other trainers in his gym.
- So clearly, if he's such an overrated dude why do stars in boxing line up to be his ward. He has Pac and Cotto now as his pupil. Maybe two of the most decorated stars in boxing in our generation.
5) What I see is that you are saying that he's overrated yet you don't know what he has done to Fighters. I'm not gonna have a debate with any posters here. I just present you what he has just accomplished and compare it to other trainers currently.:usa2:
- A plus point to it, he has parkinsons disease and yet he still trains world class athlets not only in Boxing but also MMA Star- which was GSP
:boxing:
too much hatred :D:poke:
No hatred...just never saw him as a boxing guru he was/is made out to be...his claim to fame is Pacquiao who is a true ATG but dude was already world class when he got him. He isn't very strategic in the corner, prefers a certain style, and . Fighters are supposed to be versatile. He wants his fighters to fight the way he did. He is living vicariously through his fighters instead of improving their shortcomings.
name one fighter who developed from scratch..one
Hunter has ward, Sr. has Floyd Jr., Garcia has Mickey, Birmingham has Wright and lacy, beristein has the Marquez bros, Ricardo Lopez, steward had hilmer kenty and hearns and others
accolades are great but damn he is overrated
