Yall new boxing fans is something else. Give it a little thought. Maidana has been down a lot of times in his career, he was knocked down in one round by a bum with 3 kos, knocked down like 3 or 4 times by Ortiz and knocked down by Khan himself. Mayweather vs Maidana will be just as easy, if not easier than Mayweather vs Hatton, he's a brawler and will be very easy for Mayweather to counter, to wear down then go ahead and knock out in about round 9. Maidana will get knocked out by Mayweather much, much easier than Khan will. Khan will box Mayweather and try to play counterpuncher at times while Mayweather knows Maidana will be easy to hit all damn night. Mayweather hardly ever stops anyone of late..or indeed score knockdowns. I think he may well score a knockdown against Khan..not Miadana though. Would be another UD. Maidana been knocked down by plenty people before, Floyd's style suits knocking Maidana out instead of knocking Khan out.. Especially if khan box like he did judah and malignaggi..

I have said it for a while now. Khan just might be Floyd's Buster Douglas, busting that perfect record of his, and then going back on a losing streak. People keep waiting for the perfect, great opponent to topple him (whether it's Pacquiao or some Jr. Middleweight like Lara), like he couldn't just lose against a one-hit wonder who was on his game for one night. Stylistically, he could be a nightmare for Floyd. He has that Wildcard Gym stamina and way throwing powerful, fast punches at all times. And he will be the first guy that is overall bigger (in height and mass) since Victor Ortiz. Not to mention younger. Sure, Amir Khan is prone to get KO'd but he has less of a worry with Floyd - the master boxer, then he does with a monster puncher with B-level skills. I sort of understand where you are coming from, but I think this post is too disrespectful towards Khan. He was #1 rated lightweight amateur 3 years straight, won pretty much every tournament he showed up to, he's double world champion as a pro and has been fighting at world level since the age of 21. Buster Douglas had none of these accolades going into the Tyson fight.

Well, I want to agree with you, but it doesn't drive me to conclude he should therefore fight Khan. What you're pointing out is exactly why I think Floyd should reconsider fighting Khan (right now) if he can't KO him, or even hurt him, he is going to look like a damn fool. Khan has been knocked out twice. One of those times was as a 21 year-old who was put in with a way too established lightweight puncher at the time. He has always gotten back up and wanted to continue fighting. Now, i'm not saying Maidana has a weak chin or anything like that - but he's been down just as many times as Khan - including a hard one by Khan as well. Khan's chin is thought of as being worse than it really is. Case in point, the Maidana fight. Can Mayweather stop Maidana? Yes - by a bodyshot. Khan he stop Khan? Yes - with one of those left hooks he was so happy throwing back in the mid 00s. Is it likely? No. Who would cause Mayweather more problems? Khan easily. Maidana has been outboxed on multiple occasions against inferior opposition to Mayweather, i.e Alexander, Khan, Kotelnik (to a degree) and had major issues with a past it past it Chop Chop. He also had a horrific time against Erik Morales who had gone from being El Terrible to being just terrible. As Virgil Hunter rightly pointed out a couple of days ago, Mayweather has become accustomed to the latino style of fighting having made his way through the featherweight amateur ranks as well as the super featherweight/lightweight divisions as a pro - that were predominantly dominated by latino fighters. Other than Castillo in the first fight, and maybe Cotto, I don't recall him ever having problems with a latino/hispanic fighter, despite them taking up half his resume. I will be severely disappointed if Maidana is chosen - because I know what's coming. Despite being a hard puncher, Maidana is not pin point accurate and his not particularly fast. He's developed his footwork since Garcia, but it would be a sparring session for Mayweather - just like the Canelo fight just worse. He would have to fight against Khan - like he had to against Hatton. And we saw what happened there. It would be far more intriguing in my opinion. Best post so far
