This guy get alot of love when his "big" wins are over:
Martin Murray, Curtis Stevens, Kassim Ouma & Gabriel Rosado
Thats FNF competition. Let's see him challenged before crowning him.
He's beaten enough people in SPECTACULAR fashion to be on everyone's radar, for other fighters to duck him AND make thee champ of the division not even speak his name....
What the hell are you talking about?
Maybe you could better understand if only it weren't for your room temeperature IQ.
Turn up the heat, genius.
Golovkin, like Chavez, is ALL HYPE. Golovkin, like Chavez, is PROTECTED. The comparison is weak only in your mind - where the IQ is comparable to room temperature.
But, if you wish to live on Fantasy Island, who am I to judge? Maybe ignorance truly is bliss...
Hey retard, I repeat, there was no hype around JCC. You just admitted it, nobody thought he was any good. Not only that, but once he won his title he wasn't even very protected. Sure when he fought on Latin Fury he was protected, cause everyone knew he had little talent and ability. But he won his title barely vs Zbik, fought a couple of decent MW fringe contenders, and signed up for Sergio when nobody gave him a chance. He was far less protected than Canelo, at least didn't fight undersized guys for 2 years for his title.
The hype for GGG doesn't come from his promoters, who don't even figure in the US. It comes from him looking awesome, and all these contenders being sh1t scared, as you saw in the Quillin and Murray threads. He didn't bring a name or ethnic following like Chavez. His first outing on HBO had very low numbers (scheduled vs Pirog, so much for protection dumba$$), within a year he's posting 2x the numbers +. That hype is organic, dumbo.
1. Martinez has bigger fish to fry.
2. Golovkin has one belt, not "belts"
3. Golovkin hasn't fought any one and is in his first weight class. Do like Martinez did and move up to 168. Martinez moved up from 154 after getting tired of being ducked by the top guys for being unknown and having no names on his resume. Soon as he got to 160 he started getting better names on his resume and now he's getting the biggest he can get.
Martinez shouldn't just give GGG a gift like that, why should he, when he never got one? He had to wait till his mid 30s and move up to a 3rd weight class. I guarantee you if Golovkin moves up to 168-175 and starts roaring about, calling out Ward, Groves, Kovalev, Stevenson, Froch, Kessler, he'd get all of there attention immediately.
Martinez was 100% given a gift. He was a jmw with zero big wins (want to say Golovkin has weak competition, go look at Sergio before his title shot) and coming off a draw and a loss in his last 2 fights when he got the shot to fight Pavlik for the MW title. Then he was getting better opportunities at 160 bc he was champ. Yes he took advantage of the opportunity by beating the mw champ but don't say he wasn't given a gift by getting the shot he beat absolutely no one of value at that point and drew and lost against his only meaningful opponents
Hey genius, I never said Baby Chavez and Golovkin were identical twins. It just so happens that they DO have something in common - hence my comparison. Both are protected fighters and both are hype jobs.
Reading is fundamental, why don't you try learning how....
Ok, well you learned it was a weak comparison cause they have much less in common. With this lengthy lesson you should be able to do much better next time.
Also glad I could help you see the relentlessness of Kid Choc's ducking. But it should make you feel better knowing he's not alone, far from it. Go ahead and bump that thread if any questions.
What the hell are you talking about?
The comparison between Baby Chavez and Golovkin is spot on. Both are/were protected fighters and both are hype jobs.
Ok, if you think Quillin wants nothing to do with Golovkin, as you've already drank the rest of the Golovkin hype koolaid, then go right ahead and believe want you want. I think Quillin beats Golovkin and I can only hope that one day, when Golovkin comes off of his "Bum of the Month" tour, we will get to see that fight.
As far as Martinez is concerned, I don't know if we will ever see him healthy again - but if we do - he'll beat Golovkin...
Well one is the best risk reward guy in the division, the other worst. One had guys lining up to fight him, other has whole top 10 ducking. One no amateur experience, other elite. One everyone thought was a joke, the other has Sergio's promoter saying he's the next great MW. That's why it's an idiotic comparison, it shouldn't take you this long to see it.
I didn't drink koolaid, I read what Quillin said, and listened to his interviews. Here, get informed:
http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=623131
Nobody was ducking Baby Chavez because JR was the money man in his division . This is the same reason why the "everyone is ducking Golovkin" sad story isn't selling any tickets. Golovkin isn't the money man in his division. Sergio is, and soon, maybe Cotto.
And no, I don't think Golovkin is "too good" for his weight class. Where do you groupies get this sh1t from? Quillin beats Golovkin and so does a healthy Martinez...
Great, now you see why your comparison was stupid.
Then very convenient for you that Quillin wants nothing to do with GGG, and Sergio will never be healthy again. Plus GGG has got Sergio's promoter petrified, the poor sucker fell for the hype hook line and sinker:
"Sergio will be out for at least a year. You saw his last fight, he won it on guts and will and balls alone. He had no knee, he had no hand, and I'm not sending a champion who is 38-years-old - after a year plus layoff - into a ring with this guy. I'm not saying they will never fight. I'm not speaking for Sergio, who is a grown as man and controls his own career. The successor to Sergio Martinez has already been determined and the next great middleweight is Triple G."
Ok dude, if you say so. Murray is going to go where the money is. If HBO and Golovkin's handlers wanted to make the fight then it would happen. Instead, HBO is going to continue bankrolling Golovkin's contemporary "Bum of the Month" tour. I wonder why?
Like I said, Golovkin has the blessing and backing of HBO. If HBO wants to see Golovkin fight someone with a pulse then they'll pay for it. I'm sure HBO is willing but we haven't seen Golovkin fight any live bodies yet. I wonder why?
LOL.
Any and everyone with a clue KNEW JCCjr was no middleweight monster but that didn't stop Arum, HBO and the Mexican fan base from hyping him up as such. Like I said, Baby Chavez, as is Golovkin, was ALL HYPE - no substance. The first REAL fighter he got put in the ring with EXPOSED Baby Chavez. It'll be no different with Golovkin - which is exactly why you have a *32* year old fighter with a ridiculously padded resume still fighting "keep busy" fights.
Snake Oil.
Golovkin needs to come off of the modern "Bum of the Month" tour and fight someone with a pulse...
No MWs were ducking JCC, they were all lining up for him. Nor did anyone think he was a monster, as you conceded. He was the best risk/reward guy in the division. So bad analogy, what else is new?
Clearly you think he's much too good for his weight class, including p4p rated Sergio, and it'll take a bigger, #2 rated guy to expose him. That's high praise indeed.
Quillin's opponents that include names like Fernando Guerrero and Gabriel Rosado. Sure they're happy, because they're not that good.
If HBO and Sho want big names for Golovkin and Quillin, then they have to offer them big money. Otherwise, they'll target Sturm, Martinez or domestic clashes in UK/Oz.
True enough. But Stevens' market value wasn't much higher and he scoffed at 300k vs GGG.
You're right about this, but then it all starts looking like a cashout. You wanna see a hungry contender, eager for the title and chance to expose the hyped star, not someone going in there to lay down for retirement money. Like Murray and Macklin, who came all hungry vs Sturm and Sergio, and seem resigned to fate vs GGG.
He comes cheap, but his opponents don't. Macklin and Stevens both made 300k+, an unbelievable split vs featured champ. By comparison, over at Showtime Quillin's opponents are happy to get 100k

Golovkin has the benefit of fighting in a weak division. However, despite fighting in a weak division, Golovkin is protected as all hell. I don't buy into this "ducked by everybody" sad story the G F@gs are singing. That's a steaming pile. Golovkin has the blessing and backing of HBO. If his handlers wanted to up his competition, they could do so with no problem. Instead, Golovkin is fighting another "keep busy" fight in a career made up of "keep busy" fights. This is no different than Arum's creation of the big bad middleweight monster in the form of JCCjr. ALL HYPE. The first real fighter Baby Chavez got put into the right with exposed that hype job REAL QUICK. I suspect it will be the same with Golovkin. Dude is WAY too easy to hit. There's plenty good reason why you never hear Golovkin mentioning Wards name. Ward gives him the Chad Dawson treatment - only worse...
Uh ok, you sound clueless. There's a thread right now with MW contender Murray outright ducking GGG, what else is new. But this guy had no issues going to Sergio and Sturm's hometown.
Macklin and Stevens made 3x what Rosado made vs Quillin, almost as much as GGG.
JCC Jr wasn't a MW monster, do you even follow boxing? For the longest time he was a sideshow, a joke. Nobody took him seriously. He only got a little hype after Lee, and then some Sergio fans bigged him up after their bout.
Another who has GGG fought thread? OP l2use search function, it isn't easy.
hard to build a resume when "top Fighters" like murray are flat out ducking him
May as well sticky this when noobs post threads about GGG.
You're saying Ward was willing, but when asked Ward doesn't seem all that keen.
Just to pick up on something you said above:
The HBO money isn't all that much for Golovkin fights, 300-400k pre-tax, fees and expenses.

Excuse me but why does the #2 P4P fighter in the world need to call out a guy who hasn't done anything? Why does a 168lb fighter who's the linear champion in his division need to call out a guy who's merely a titlist in the division below? What does Golovkin have that Ward should call him out? He isn't even the #1 guy @ 160...
LOL.
If Golovkin's people claim nobody @ 160 wants to fight then it's on them to find a suitable challenge. That challenge lives one division North of 160. If Golovkin wants a challenge, if he wants Ward then Golovkin needs to call him out...

Everybody involved wants it to marinate, including Ward:

It shouldn't take a p4p #2 one division up to expose a hypejob, right?
He has the blessing of HBO - so if he's not getting the big fights then what exactly is the problem? This story about everyone @ 160 ducking him is a steaming pile. Again, Golovkin has the blessing of HBO and everybody wants to make the HBO money - so the "everyone @ 160 is ducking him" crap needs to stop. Golovkin is being PROTECTED - which shouldn't come as a surprise seeing as who his promoter is.
And if it were true that everyone at 160 is ducking Golovkin - a story which is a load of crap - then why does he not move up the eight pounds and meet the challenge that's waiting for him there in a truly big fight? If nobody wants to fight @ 160 then go fight Ward. I'm sure he's ready and willing. I'm sure HBO would be only too happy to make it worth everyone's while. Yet, Golovkin's promoter continues to raid cemeteries in order to find Golovkin's next opponent.
When will you G F@gs wake up and realize you've been conned?
He's not ready and willing though. Have you heard him say he wants to fight Golovkin next? He's always talking Chavez Jr. and Froch.
The only guys calling out Golovkin were Mora and Froch and it's probably on the backburner for Froch now with the Groves fight.
kinda hard to take this opinion seriously when they've been wanting to match him up with martinez to no avail.
Why would Sergio want to fight GGG when a fight with Chavez was on the horizon? After that fight, Sergio deserved a tune up due to the injuries he suffered in the Chavez fight. Now, a Cotto fight is much more lucrative and he's wanted it for years. Remember that GGG just recently started to become popular.
In my opinion, it's ok to be a big fan of GGG and appreciate him as a fighter but he gets overrated and overhyped. People say he'd beat all these fighters but he hasn't been tested yet. Let the man win some big fights first.
When people talk about other fighters who are 35+, their age is always à factor of their upcoming fight. Flous just fought the lineal jr middleweight champ who is 10 years goinfre than him and its called à cherrypick...wtf
Also, dont come at me with that "he doesnt get hurt" ****.....the boys hands are like marshmellows, Hes had a bad shoulder since he was in his 20s and he spends 12 rounds gettin beat on the arms and shoulders. He takes damage like à mf just not to the face.
The man is the G.o.a.t.
Wrong thread flo job, go profess your love elsewhere
Wow. Thanks for the heads up.
This could possibly be one of the worst 'come-back' fights I've ever seen a guy
take. I mean - kinda props to Clev, but he just lost to a huge puncher (albeit an extremely talented one) and decides to go up 25lbs in the hope that he'll beat another?
Agreed, I like Cleverly and still think he has something to offer the sport, but why match him against a very similar fighter to the guy who just destroyed him. Makabu is possibly just as talented as Kovalev, hits just as hard and is 25 pounds heavier. Just makes no sense?? He will make a big statement if he pulls it off, but I just don't see it happening. Another KO loss will be very detrimental to his career.
