Hey guys who do you think mayweather will fight in 2014?i dont think he will fight kahn in 2014.im thinking his first choice for may will be danny garcia and in the fall i have no idea who he could fight im sure it wont be maidana he is to powerful and has fix his technical issues he is a much better fighter now.what ya'l think who are some oponents for PBF in 2014?
Its just mind boggling to think Tim Bradley-undefeated ww belt holder and a top 5 p4p fighter does not stand a chance against floyd-the lineal ww champ.
Stop kissing FLoyds ass will you for a second. Its not mind boggling to have Floyd favourite against Bradley, as Pac already wiped the floor with Bradley, with Bradley ending up in a wheelchair.
Because Pac wiped the floor with Bradley and JMM made it very controversial for Bradley why shouldn't Floyd be favourite? It still would be a good fight though. Bradley is tougher than Ortiz and Guerrero and Canelo so stop making excuses and whining.
If floyd signed to fight JMM or Tim it would be seen by most posters, especially you, as the usual "cherrypicking" blah blah blah. These fighters are both ranked ahead of manny p4p.
.
Stop making excuses........Bradley and JMM are better than Ortiz and Guerrero so Floyd clearly hasn't got a problem with constant cherry picking and people having a go at his cherry picking way.
Bradley wouldn't be considered a cherry pick for Floyd as he is better than anyone Floyd has faced of late. But on the other hand you could say he was a cherry pick as Floyd is favoured to beat him, just like Pac was.
So therefore Floyd should fight someone hes not favoured to beat and if that person he isn't favoured to beat is in a higher weight division then Floyd should try be more ambitious.
But maybe first things first. Beat peoples hes favourite to beat but scared to death of like Pac first.
I think "standing a chance" is something each poster decides for themselves. SOme have said Manny and sergio don't stand a chance at this point. I think we'd both disagree.
I'd prefer sergio or manny over both. GGG is no different than Quillin IMO and I'm not particulalry interested in either. A bradley fight would be compelling, relevant, and good IMO.
If the only floyd fights that are interesting are those that you think he could lose that brings me back to my intial question- do you apply is this standard to other fighters or just floyd?
Its just mind boggling to think Tim Bradley-undefeated ww belt holder and a top 5 p4p fighter does not stand a chance against floyd-the lineal ww champ.
I don't know if I think Mayweather would lose to any of the four fighters I want him to fight, I just think they are the four that would actually give Mayweather good competition. Bradley is not undefeated to me, he lost to Pacquiao and I think he may have lost to Provodnikov although I can see why the judges and most others scored it for Bradley. I think Bradley stands more of a chance than Garcia although I am less confident of that than that the other three guys standing at least half decent chances againt Mayweather. The standard I apply to Mayweather is not the one you are suggesting, the standard I am applying is 'who could give Mayweather genuine competition within the relevant weight classes'. The standard for Mayweather in that regard is higher because he is the best fighter in the world.
I know there are differences between Golovkin and Quillin in terms of how their respective networks promote and view them but the reality is that Golovkin has become something of a star and Quillin has not. Thefore at this moment, even if you leave aside how you personally rate either fighter, that Golovkin is by far the bigger name. Golovkin and Quillin have both been knocking out guys who rank around 6-30 at middleweight, unfortunately as of yet neither have fought one of the best middleweights. Golovkin's trainer has said he'd fight at 154, I imagine that was to keep the door open for a possible big money fight at 154 should it ever arise. I imagine he could make 154 or 152 with the right preparation but granted it could certainly weaken him for the fight if he does it wrong and if they have overestimated their abilities to get to that weight.
Maybe I was wrong to suggest that Maidana and Garcia are not credible if credible means something like 'deservng', what I really mean is that I don't think they stand any chance and therefore I'm not interested in seeing it. Are you interested in seeing Mayweather-Maidana or Mayweather-Garcia? Assuming they are possible surely Pacquiao, Martinez and Golovkin are more interesting opponents? I'm not as sure if a Bradley fight is more interesting than a Garcia fight but it might be.

Golovkin's headlining is due to HBO pushing him to fill the vacuum they had last year losing floyd/canelo/broner, manny and sergio out, etc. Quillin was never going to headline over the GBP stars. Yes he's been knocking people out, but I think we can agree the opposition wasn't much of a threat.
Maybe so, but GGG would aslo be fighting at 154, a weight we, at least I, haven't seen him at.
AGain, I can respect your opinion, its just awfully hard to suggest no GBP fighter, fighters who have beaten better comp than GGG but are just smaller, are not acceptable opponents. You don't have to like the options -but to say they are not credible is something else.

I agree that in terms of accomplishments as professionals that there is fairly little between Golovkin and Quillin although Golovkin is still slightly ahead on that score but I think Golovkin has been a lot more impressive in his wins, particularly his best wins, than Quillin has. Time may prove me wrong but I think Golovkin is by far the superior of the two. Also Golovkin has gained very impressive ratings in a short period of time whilst Quillin is still something of an undercard fighter. Maidana and Garcia may each have had a better best win than Golovkin, Broner and Matthysse respectively, but i'm not sure if that makes them more credible. Ultimately I think Golovkin is a better fighter and that his extra weight adds to his chances against Mayweather. In short Golovkin looks to me to be a tougher opponent than Garcia and Maidana.
I'm not saying Mayweather shouldn't have taken the deal but to me as a boxing fan his best options as they stand right now do not lie on showtime. Therefore I am just underwhelmed by his options at the moment.

I'll give you Manny and Tim as they are ww's. I want to see the Martinez fight just to see if floyd can get the lineal MW title. we also agree the khan fight is garbage.
If GGG is ok then Quillin should be too. They have fought the same level of comp, QUillin just doesn't have HBO's hype machine behind him. You are entitled to your opinion but it just seems unreasonable to discount guys who have accomplished as much or more than GGG. Maidana and Danny, while lighter, have beaten far more quality opponetns than GGG.
Its hard to fault anyone for taking a deal like the one showtime offered floyd.

Reality is Pac would have Guerrero and Ortiz for breakfast.
Thats the reality of how little Floyd delivers. Pac had Bradley and JMM for breakfast enough times.
Thats what it boils down to, Floyd isnt delivering much. All mouth. Floyd needs to fight some p4p fighters, and not be scared of fighting people hes favourite against who are smaller than him.

If you don't count fantasy wins for floyd, don't for manny.
Canelo weighed 165 on fight night against Mayweather, if I am not mistaken Martinez routinely weighs around this weight on fight night, perhaps 167 or so and Golovkin weighs 170. Both could easily fight at 165 on fight night like Canelo to face Mayweather. So weight is not the problem.
Those are the four credible opponents right now, are there major promotional/network problems with each guy? Yes but I doubt they are all insurmountable. Also it is worth pointing out that Mayweather is the one who signed with Showtime, if he curtailed his best options by doing so then who is blame for that?
Khan, Maidana, Garcia and such like have almost zero chance against Mayweather. The four I named at least have some chance and therefore are the most credible and the more interesting fights. I'm not saying that to be yet another guy to have a go at Mayweather but that is just the way things look to me at the moment.

There are no compelling or legit fights for floyd IYO other than guys on HBO who are contractually/politically unable/refuse to fight floyd or are MW's? Wow!
Has this standard ever been imposed on any other fighter?

Imagine if they signed floyd/jmm 2? Most posters complain about floyd/tim. Yet these are the 2 best fights for manny right now.

There are only four really credible challenges out there for Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley, Martinez and Golovkin. Mayweather will very likely fight none of them. None of the likely match ups are particularly interesting except for maybe Cotto should he beat Martinez.

Funny thing is all 3 would be seen as great opposition for Pac, hell Ortiz and Canelo would most likely beat Pac
What great opposition has Pac fought as of lates? A washd up Rios, a over the hill Jmm, a unexperienced WW Bradely
The reality is posters expect more from floyd because he is better than manny! Most will not admit it-they will dance around it but looking at what is considered a good competition for both shows this.
Well JMM is a p4p fighter, yet he was considered a cherry pick for Pac so how can Ortiz and Guerrero and weight drained Canelo be considered superior to JMM and Bradley. Bradley is doing fine at WW as most believed he would do......

A washed up JMM is still a p4p fighter so thats better than anything Ortiz will ever achieve and Canelo still has a lot to prove. If Canelo beats some decent people he may be considered a p4p fighter one day, but not the one Floyd fought.
Floyd rarely fights p4p fighters if ever. JMM was bloated up 2 divisions so that dont count. Hatton was great at 140 but proved he didnt do so well at 147. SSM lost 5 times just wasnt a p4p fighter and had an off night with Floyd as well.
So Floyd has not ever fougth a bona fida p4p fighter, theres always doubts about Floyds opposition.
floyd has always gone for the biggest hype with the least bite
khan has no hype, still doubting he fights khan
im gonna say maidana, who's actually pretty decent, but prehaps floyd is worried about the money he brings
Unlikely to fight a p4p fighter. Carry on the same vain as Oritz, Guerrero and Canelos, who are about top 25 p4p fighter materials. He only fights people regarded as p4p fighters rarely.
