Fun little highlight reel video of HW contender Deontay Wilder I found on youtube:
Love him or hate him, hype him or hate him, this guy brings some excitement to a division that sometime lacks it. In his burgeoning (5 year) career he's amassed a respectable 30-0, 30 KOs record albeit against mediocre opposition.
He's not the most polished fighter, but several things are unmistakable: he's got tremendous power (especially the right hand), he in impeccable physical condition and he's got that 'killer instinct.'
I'm hoping that he stays relatively active in 2014 and gets matched up against some challenging opponents.
Thoughts?
I'd love to see him vs Fury next, but I think GBP isn't too keen on that fight from what Team Fury says. Either way, you have to tune in when he fights. Somebody is going to hit the canvas :boxing:
I think he can beat the winner of Arreola-Stiverne for the WBC title if that's the route they decide to take as well.
lol Furys team never got back to Wilder they shooooook
What is funny normally the guy that makes grown ass men fall to the ground either unconscious or writhing in pain usually get a ton of hype but Wilder really gets none of that instead getting nitpicked for taking the slow road which was the only real path for him to take if he wanted any chance at success.
It you watch that video you can see how he looks better in recent fights as oppose to early ones.
Sure if you can take his power you can beat him, if you can get inside on him you can beat him there also, but what it comes down to is the old Mike Tyson line "everybody has a plan until they get hit". I think his offense is going to be hard to deal with not to mention his size which will create openings on its own and he seems pretty quick on the trigger thus if someone opens up from to far away they will be in great danger.
IF a guy can handle that fire though he will lose but I think that is a pretty large if.
He appears to be a disaster waiting to happen. But he may reveal boxing skills for the first time against a different type of opponent like Arreola or Stiverne. The long reach and speed could cause them problems if he trains and spars properly and is in good condition.
I want to like him, but his record is a new level of blown up. I hope they just don't throw him a title shot. Your sig is cool though OP.
Their have been lots of fighters to slow roll their careers because of lack of experience, and its difficult to really blame a fighter for unjustified hype. Hard to say how his career will turn out, but at least he brings excitement.
GBP have him wrapped up in cotton wool, letting him fight a dishwasher or a milkmen every now and then to pad his record.
a dishwasher would be a step up for this guy. He's fighting landscapers and interior decorators
Fury asked him again on twitter, but Wilder said Fury was 2nd or 3rd choice after the potential WBC title shot.
Schaefer reached out to Fury's promoters (In one of the articles I posted) asking for the fight why haven't Fury's promoters come out and say they want it. If you ask Schaefer today I think he would say that their side is still interested (They were willing to replace Haye when the fight was canceled :boxing:).
Not really a big fan of him at all, wether its him or team that are protecting his arse. I think if he steps up and faces some real competition like Arreola or even Adamek we will only then know how good he is…heck I think even Lucas Browne could make him do the chicken dance.

cant be mad at him for that though. they are all good fights but he can only box one man at a time, if he wants to take the one that gets him a belt the fastest thats understandable. you could argue stiverne or arreola would be tougher than a fury fight, no need though. like i said they are all good fights.

yea,,I think his power is real legit. just the chin,,,balance,,,and stamina that worries me
His team is like an overprotective mother who won't let her son go. But that's not Deontay's fault, he wants to fight the big dogs, and he will if they let him. It doesn't matter if he wins or loses. He doesn't come for paychecks, he comes to fight. When someone steps in the ring with him, he's trying as hard as he can to take them out, and that's what makes his fights enjoyable. Bombsquad!
When Fury called him out Wilder accepted and Schaefer already reached out to Fury's team but they have been quite.

i dont know why, but for some reason Arreloa just screams good step up match!
He's perfect. Not good enough to be elite, but he makes prospects prove themselves. Also would be a damn good scrap while it lasted. Arreola coming forward while Wilder tries to knock his head into the first row :boxing:
1:50 - Made a man act like he was drowning on dry land.
2:30 - Tried to straight up KILL Audley Harrison.
5:14 - Handed out a beating to a hairy backed hippo.
Now that is heavyweight entertainment!
I like Wilder. I don't get the hate for him. It's not like he's being hyped and shoved down our throats like canelo or broner was. Dude is exciting as hell and that's how it should be for HW's. You want HW fights to end in KO's and Wilder provides them.
I hope he steps up in competition to see what he's got.
