Martinez could pay Rubio $1,000,000 step away money, and a Cotto would still be lucrative moneywise. I don't see how it's going to be a problem. Also Martinez already made a public statement that he can't train start training until Feb 15th. Rubio is supposed to fight Spada for the interim belt.

Cotto-Martinez is driven by money, not merit Cotto isn't even a good JMW, Cotto at MW is a joke and even if it was about the title, WBC belt means nothing technically, Sergio is still the world champ, screw his paper belt Murray should get a rematch over Rubio being ordered though But if Cotto win he will become the The Ring and Lineal champ. Just like when Martinez went up in weight to fight Pavlik. WBC doesnt matter because if Pacquiao is considered a champ in 8 weight classes by winning The Ring belt at 140. Cotto could do the same

Everyone seems to have forgotten this tiny important detail. I knew it would cause issues for Cotto-Martinez. It also seems like Rubio is very very serious about this. It will probably take a LOT of "step aside" money to reason with him, if he's willing to reason at all. Fuck.

If some how Rubio pulled off the upset who would really want to fight Martinez after that ??? And for what money?? I think Cotto likes the idea of the belt being on the line as well. Looks like Canelo might be back in the fold for cotto... The ONLY reason that Miguel wants to fight Sergio is for the belt.
