Morales. That night had two of the best fights I have been back to back. I cheered for the length of two fantastic fights. Anyone else remember the Arce vs. Hussein fight from that night? It is worth digging up if you can't remember!
morales win has a bitter taste in hindsight because of how he got beat twice after that, the third fight was specially sad for me as pac looked leagues ahead of morales at that point ,plus pac wasnt as much of a superstar as he is now and the fight wasnt as big.
marquez win gets more credit for me because of how unexpected it was, and it was also a huge really important fight at the time
It was the last great performance from Erik.
It was his last great performance that resulted in a win. To me, his showing against Maidana was his last great fight.
To answer the question, I think Morales takes this even if Marquez had the "earth shattering" knockout.
Good question. Both victories were impressive in their own right, but I'm leaning with Marquez. After 3 previous fights of never putting Manny down, that knockout was brutal and totally unexpected. I'm sure there were plenty of people that predicted Morales would outbox a very wild Manny back then (Morales may have even been favored in that fight...anybody know?), but how many besides Hectari (lol) could have predicted a 39 year old Marquez to do something so spectacular?
I think it's a tougher question than expected at first glance, but I'd go with Morales beating Pac in 2005.
It was the last great performance from Erik.
I actually picked near past his prime Morales winning via Unanimous Decision over Pacquiao. He actually schooled a 27 yrs.old Manny. It sucks that he was beaten by Zahir Raheem in his next fight. No to take anything away from JMM, but he was losing the fight before that impressive Knock out from hell. And some guys were saying that he was using Peds against Pacman.
