Glass chin aside, the combo that put Maidana down was f*cking beautiful. That took a huge amount out of Marcos.
yes, indeed.
Maidana came out very aggressive versus Khan, just as he did with Broner. Difference was Khan fired some shots back and stopped him in his tracks, slowed him down (I believe Larry Merchant picked up on it), Broner was all defense in that first round.
There were people who said that, but not as many as believed Broner was a p4p level fighter. Most conversations about Khan beating Mayweather were Pac fans who only supported Khan because of Roach, and people taking a wait and see approach like myself.
There's no way that's true. Stop it. There were literally like 10 ppl who thought broner was p4p. There were a bunch u accused Floyd of either ducking khan or who thought khan could beat him.
Why was he weigh drained against Chino? Because he said so.. I'm pretty sure he had a few more fights at 140 after that fight... That's an excuse... If it's like that then Chino was weight drained too because his power is better at 147... Khan got way more hype than Broner and it's because he was a glorified Olympian.. He has skills but also tons of flaws.. To Diaz would be beat Alexander because he drew with Porter is ridiculous... He got stretched by kendall Holt in 2 the fight before..
Khan's speaking the truth. Ortiz, Broner, Lopez, Karass etc.. they all went down from Maidana punches. Khan didn't.
But any weight-drained fighter is going to lose a significant amount of punch resistance.. Just ask Dawson, Pacquiao, De La Hoya etc.. Khan's losses are largely due to being weight-drained.

Not so much sh*tting on Broner as stating a fact.
Khan beat Paulie ten times more impressively than Broner, beat Maidana where Broner got his ass whooped, yet never had half the hype Broner did. I don't get it.
Khan is a big draw in england had a lot of hype until he got knocked the **** out by Prescott. Then he got back all that hype and lost to a roided Lamont peterson which lead to him getting stopped by Danny Garcia. I like khan but let's not act like he didn't get any hype at all. He was supposed to be next but he lost to Peterson.
That's a lie. I've never heard anyone who thought Broner could beat Mayweather. There were a whole slew of fans who thought khan could beat mayweather until hr got beat by Danny. Ppl love to revise history. Khan used to get riddicukous hype around here. Much more so than even broner.

Whatever the opinion of Khan, he did beat Maidana and boxed him beautifully.

It's funny how Khan took Chino's power and didn't go down while Broner hit the deck twice! Yeah, Khan got dropped by Diaz (Sad IMO) but we've seen guys like Mikey Garcia get put down by a bum like Rocky Martinez. Doesn't mean he's got a weak chin or can't take a punch. The only guy to put out Khan was Garcia. Presscot too but that's a lost that no one really counts for some reason. Anyway, I like Khan, I think he's a good fighter.
Diaz is actually a very good fighter - he drew with Shawn Porter in their first fight - the guy who just beat Alexander. Diaz most probably would have beaten Alexander too.
He wasn't hurt to the head though. He could have at least varied his attack. He shot about 10 punches to the head and 0 to the body. Then he failed to really go back to the body for the rest of the fight, allowing Maidana to recover. Amir is so frustrating to watch.
He did go to the body a few times, I remember there was an exchange at one point where he was targeting Maidana's body and Maidana sort of threw his hands up and shrugged the shoulders, almost as if he was saying "you're body punches aren't hurting me anymore".
But you're right Khan can be frustrating to watch, he kept throwing the same predictable double-jab/uppercut combo in the Garcia fight which led to the knockdown. But he was even demonstrating that combo in a few training videos before the fight - and he was getting tagged a lot in sparring throwing that same combo. But Roach wasn't there for most of that camp so that risky combo sort of cost him the fight - other than being weight-drained.
Khan is scared Floyd might choose Maidana.
Im pretty sure at one point during the Maidana fight Amir Khan was on wobbly legs and totally turned his back like he was finished.
I agree. The fight could be marketable. Maidana has a Mexican trainer and is well received by the Mexican public, specially now that he ended Broner's run.
Yep, you're right, you're talking about when this happened...

That's not as "retarded" as you think. If you hurt a fighter to the body, going to the head is often a good idea because the fighter will naturally protect his body at that point so the head should be an easier target.

Maidana was lucky that the body shot was so late in the round.
Although Amir is so retarded, he flurried at the head for the last few seconds of the round instead of going straight back to the body :lol1:
