just had another look, Alex says "they're stopping it"
I'm suspicious. Alexander clearly said "stop" and "fight", and Cunningham went to call the ref over, but said "wait, wait." Someone else said, "it's over," maybe they were talking about Purdy's corner.
I can't imagine why Alexander would quit, but I'm wondering now. I don't remember this happening at all, or anyone mentioning it.
He said after the fight that he had a broken hand if I'm not mistaken, maybe the pain was too much for this flower?
Admittedly, it doesn't seem like Alexander is quitting but more like him trying to get the refs attention to have him know that Purdy is quitting, giving lil Devon a huge benefit of the doubt
I despise the guy (well, his fighting style and Cunningham) more than anyone but I'm pretty inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Saying that, his quit job against Bradley was one of the worst I have ever. Bullsh*tted his way out of there. I have more respect for Ortiz getting f*cked up and admitting he couldn't handle it anymore (Chino fight).
Bull****. I challenge ANYONE's hatred for Devon against mine lol. Hate that guy's guts and his trainer even more.
Watching it again, it could actually be this:
- Devon says "they're stopping it".
-Cunningham tries to get the refs attention to Purdy's Team quitting.
- Devon gets up to walk over but Cunningham tells him to wait until it's confirmed.
This is definitely what I saw and heard. Alexander definitely said "They stopping it" first.

ortiz could never walk through the hellfire that was the matthysse or porter fights
with the amount of times he got brutally butted in the porter fight, and he didn't fold, he kept throwing ferocious shots
he is forgiven in my book
No, he doesn't say it the second he sits in the stool, there's a 4 second delay where he could see Barker making it clear that he's gonna call the fight off in Purdy's corner.
Stop ruining my hate train. :lol1:
There's no reason for Devon to be quitting, I realize that.
Alexander saw that they were stopping it, Cunningham says "No no, wait" while looking at Purdy's corner for further confirmation. He wasn't gonna quit, he just landed a 4 punch combination to end the round, I still remember the fight vividly and Alexander was dominanting with one hand.
That's an amazing find.
I guess conceivably, he could be saying "they're stopping it" - referring to Purdy. And it is odd how quick Cunnigham accepts it if Devon indeed was quitting.
However, I have to say - that looks very suspiciously like a quit job. Damn.
He said it the second he sat in the stool. Could Alexander have heard Purdy's corner? That's the only way he'd think Purdy's corner was going to stop it.
It really looks like a quit job. Against Lee Purdy. Damn it, Lee Purdy's corner! If you had just waited 10 goddamn seconds!
I heard Alexander say they stopping it, but it doesn't sound clear. Alexander may have quit against Bradley but I wouldn't call him a quitter, I think people directed so much hate towards him due to judges, not acknowledging that he showed heart against Matthysse and Porter.
Nah, they weren't talking about Purdy's corner, this was before they even knew it. That's why they said "wait, wait" Plus if you watch it again, Cunningham's back is facing Purdy's corner, how could he have known?
true, but devon could see if the fight was being stopped since he's facing purdy's corner. for his sake i hope he was saying they stopping it maybe he hurt his hand i don't know seems weird ass hell both fighters corner trying to stop the fight at the same time lmao

I heard his trainer calling in the ref, then saying "hol, wait wait" :lol1:
