I think Mikey Garcia will be the best American fighter of his era. Of course there's Danny Garcia who's already P4P Top 10 IMO, and Adrien Broner, as well as other young fighters like Andrade, Russell, and others. But I feel Mikey has the power and skill to win titles all the way to 140, maybe even higher eventually. I see Danny losing eventually, though he's a real good fighter obviously. Broner I also see losing. And the others are too young to tell.
That's pretty much how I feel. A lot of potentially good American fighters, but not one that has shown he'll carry the P4P mantle after Floyd retires.
I'm not sure if I'd call Mikey Garcia "American," pretty sure he'd identify himself as Mexican, Mexican-American at the least.
Since when is a Mexican-American not considered an American???
If that's the case, Floyd is African, not American. LOL
He already has that :lol1:
Haha! Oh how could I forget that?
Here's us talking about there's nothing for Ward at 175.
Yet, if the rumours are true of Foster and Calzaghe returning we'll have 4 fighters holding the Lineage at 175 with "legit claims".
That's legacy there.
I think there's some good potential wins for him.
Stevenson and Kovalev obviously, lineage at 175. Other foreseeable opportunities.
There's nothing for him at 168.
He already has that :lol1:
And the first notable thing he did was almost in 2010, personally I don't think there is much at 175 for him either maybe a few possibly good wins.

I also like Andrade, he was my favorite of the last group of prospects so i will stick with him doing some big things, probably not Floyd like big things but perhaps Ward like things.
I think Spence could be bigger in the end because to me he seems more interested in hurting people.
Wasting his prime years away. Done nothing of note since 2011 we're heading into 2014.
He needs to get himself to 175 and fast.
Apparently he's having some more promotional issues. Wants to fight Chavez Jr

If he shelves himself again over some promotional bullsh*t, I'll stop being a fan.

Carl Froch has mentioned Chavez Jr as a possible opponent too. High reward with low risk.
Yes, I understand that and those are valid points. Conjecture on my part, but I assume that Mikey would identity himself as Mexican as oppose to American, even if geographically he is. I've garnered this theory from watching a ton of crappy ESNEWS interviews and observing his ring walks, choice of music, and style of dress (Mexican cowboy). It's a cultural thing and I understand it, many Mexican-Americans/Chicanos identify more with Mexican culture than they do with American culture. Also, Mexican isn't an ethnicity bro.
And he doesn't have the main stream appeal of Oscar. He's quiet and isn't charismatic. Americans won't accept a Mexican as theirs.
Americans kind of accepted Oscar, because he was a bit white washed, handsome, and was beating up black guys.
he speaks great english and spanish. his father was born in mexico, i believe. both garcia brothers were born in america. they're ethnically mexican, but their nationality is american.

Ward is almost 30, very thin resume for his age.

Terrance Crawford, i think has the best shot of filling the shoes of floyd and ward as the best fighter and has the potential to be p4p #1 if he can secure the big fights down the road
