I personally only have martinez, dont feel deserves the belts at the 160 division till he fights golovkin.
Anybody right now you feel doesn't deserve the belt they have and should be dropped of it?
Shumenov is outrageous......he guy takes a massive break and is not called to account once for this and then comes back in against someone so under-the-radar that even the most hardcore fan would struggle to recognise him.
Lots of rumours flying about that Shumenov has got political connections with the super-rich oil people back in Kazakhstan and that his title is protected outside the ring as well.
Poor old Campillo clearly beat Shumenov the second time they fought and I would laugh my arse off if this Slovakian dude sparks Shumenov.
Definitely Lamont Peterson. The belt should've gone to Matthysse and then to Danny after he beat Matthysse. Peterson is just a paper champion to me. This is not even discussing the whole fiasco with the Khan fight.
I disagree with the people saying Martinez. After beating Pavlik for the title, he has fought many good fighters. Martinez has been a worthy champion. It is time for him to face Golovkin in 2014 but I will take nothing away from what he has accomplished at 160.
As much as I like the Martinez-Cotto fight, it's not really anything that's doing Sergio any favors. I mean, Cotto is the one with everything to gain, and Sergio has everything to lose. I'll be happy if Sergio fights Golovkin next year at some point though. It's THE FIGHT at 160 lbs.
It's all about money and publicity. The more money an people he brings in, the higher chance he has at enticing Floyd who would bite at the chance of an old, popular and p4p fighter.
Sergio is trying to make money before retirement. All these surgeries and rehab arent free and I seriously doubt he has more than three fights left in him. Martinez is prime picking right now he's at that stage where on any given night now he'll be dethroned by anyone. Even Rubio is lookin dangerous. Its much better to lose to Cotto (big name) than possibly lose AND possibly take a crushing beating vs a bigger middleweight (which every champ is at this point). If he loses to Cotto, theres likely a rematch clause and thats a big fight against a non big middle so thats money again. You better believe Canelo will be dying to make a big fight vs the winner. The only thing that sucks is lineage will likely be broken and Ggg wont be able to keep it as the true successor he seems to be.
Beating Cotto gives Serg more leverage on the negotiating table. This isnt a legacy fight for Martinez (though still a good win on paper I guess) and Cotto could prove he CAN beat a p4p fighter if he wins and itll be a legacy making win. This is a good "money" matchup for both war torn guys whove given it all to us

Martinez has fought a whos who of modern middleweights, he deserves his belt.
I actually think Golovkin should have his belt dropped if he doesn't stop fighting light middleweights. I think Ward should lose his best unless he fights a legit super middle, I think Vitali should lose his belt if he doesn't defend soon
This. Martinez is one of few who actually earned and deserves his status as THE man in the division. One of the more respectable champs in the sport. Seriously, I love GGG but what win does GGG have that makes someone say "You know what? The lineal champ who has earned his title by beating THE man, had it wrongfully taken from him and then retakes it by force...yeah he doesnt deserve his title despite beating top middles since moving up. He has a mandatory AND has been out with injury.. Take his title for not fighting GGG!"
Seriously. :/... No offense tc, and I'm not sure if you just have a dislike for Sergio but the dude has earned his props the hard way. GGG is peaking at a bad time in Sergios career. If it wasnt for the money with Cotto hed have to fight Rubio next. Sergios age likely means him and GGG will never fight. If they fought it wouldnt be til at least 2015 where my guess is he'd be chasing Nelo (thats if he doesnt vacate to fight him before!!) Thats a LONG time. Ggg dont need Sergio, hes clearly the man after Martinez is gone.
Vitali on the other hand... If he even fighting again? Peterson and his cheatin ass too.
I disagree with someone saying Ward as well. Dude cleared out the division. Number 2 (Froch) didnt want to fight him again up untill after the Groves fight... Whas he gonna do fight chavez jr? Lol. Or GGG (nice fight but GGG would need a fight at 168 before going for Ward)

Beibut Shumenov. I know he's fighting this W/E (after 18 months off) - but it's against a kid who's rated at #110 by Boxrec. Guy's an embarrassment.
Not only that, but he won the belt via a SD robbery of Campillo nearly 4 years ago and has not since defended it against anyone near the top 10 (though Ulzelkov ain't terrible).
Peterson!
Gets a very shady decision, then we discover that he was using PEDs for that fight, and finally he gets sparked out in 3 rounds ...
And somehow he still can call himself a champion
