The 550k viewers drawn by Rigo-Agbeko is among the lowest viewerships in HBO's Boxing After Dark history. #boxing
Let's see if it goes down or to 1.1 million next time
No personality, no opposition, no fan friendly style, no fanbase, and not even a country to back him. No doubt he's in Floyd's league but man he's not going to be making millions. I guess this proves "skills pay the bills" is not entirely true.
set up to fail, rofl.
talk about reaching.
I think he wasn't set up to fail, but setted up to wake up that his style does not sell.
The amount that hbo is paying him is totally bigger than ggg, yet ggg produces blockbuster rating. Rigo is a bad investment for hbo.
GGG previously had the lowest rated show with 600klk, now he's pulling 1.5 million.
I can't help but think Rigo was set up to fail by making this head to head with Showtime. It's a bad break for him either way.

We all cant deny rigo in terms of boxing skills and finesse, but the problem is he dont sell fights coz he is boring as ****.
I am not belittling him as a boxer but rigo should be taken away from main event cards. Try to sell him on friday night fights to create viewership for him.
Provo started fnf, rigo could go to it.
It had nothing to do with his performances, it was awful match making and lack of promotion. They picked up Agbeko out of nowhere because the big names guys are frightened to step into the ring with the boxing god.
What I find funny about the whole thing is despite the lack of promotion involved, and despite him facing a completely overmatched opponent, he still did better than those Showtime bouts LOL.
Next time put Rigo in with someone with a big name and I guarantee over 1M.
Rigo couldn't do 1M if he was fighting Tyson & Ali in the same night.
ESPN "the Ocho" won't even carry him now. He couldn't sell out a phone booth. He had less viewers then his undercard fight & the crowd walked out before & during his fight !
Truth is truth..it's called Prize Fighting.
He is a highly skilled fighter who generates zero excitement, takes little/no chances, doesn't speak English, has little competion at 122 lbs.& doesn't talk ****e.
These are recipes for failure as an entertainer or boxer who makes the big $$$.
:boxing::boxing::boxing:
Yes but he wasn't a guy that anybody could take seriously. No one picked Agbeko to win this one. He was taken off the street as a stay busy opponent because the other big name fighters are cowards.
I can imagine. Everyone is so scared to lose a fight by points.
I don't think they are. If you want big money fights you have to excite the fans or sell yourself. He does absolutely neither. In fact he bores the people who come to watch him and has zero personality. I don't know how he thinks the sporting industry works but most of the people who are the highest paid athletes are good but.... they also have a personality and marketability to boot.
The Donaire-Darchinyan fight would've been considered boring if it didn't end in a KO. Vladimir Klitchko gets his nuts hugged by people like Dan Rafael because he's a draw. Lol. And he's almost just as unwatchable. But I agree Rigo needs to step it up.
The lack of promotion made the people who had already paid for tickets walk out of the arena.
Also to expand on that point...Promotions cost money. If they don't see them as being viable in a positive profit margin...they're not going to do them. Why would they spend money on promotions to watch it have little effect and lose MORE money. They're not dumb....you think arum the greediest snake in the game wouldn't jump at the opportunity to make money off this guy?
A lot of you people should stay away from investing because it's apparently you don't understand how monetary returns work. If someone has a 475 credit score and wants a loan for a 500k$ house...you'd give it to him wouldn't you?

Ouch , owned :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I think people might be too hard on him. But if Rigo doesn't start getting more exciting in his next couple fights he needs to be knocked down to PPV undercard status.

I agree with the lack of promotion but on paper Agbeko was supposed to be great he was the guy to pressure Rigo like never before spoil it make it a dirty fight throwing 100 punches a round and look what happened in real life Rigondeaux just traumatizes dudes straight up and Rigo is the one who threw 800+ punches and Agbeko never saw his oppoinent face since he had his gloves glued to his forehead but Rigondeaux gets the blame because he should have knee capped Agbeko and get him down .

People are comparing Abgeko to Clottey...
Clottey is a good defensive boxer. That is his style.
Abgeko is a good offensive boxer. That is his style. He is not a good defensive boxer. The fact that Rigo couldn't put more than 1 punch at a time on him was pathetic to watch.
Abgeko is NOT a good defensive boxer. Rigo made him look like a defensive boxer because he couldn't land more than 17% of his shots.
In fact one of the few times Rigo got confident and opened up Abgeko landed a punch and Rigo RAN the rest of the round.
Great post.
764 of the 800 were flicking jabs. Be real now.

Jabs dont make a guy who throws 100 punches a round throw a fraction of that regardless of how many where power shots which if my memory serves correct where about 200 thrown but Rigondeaux was confronted with a puzzle he never had to solve before as a pro and even guys like Pacquiao can't always get a guy like that out of there. Give Rigo a Santa Cruz someone with ballz and he will shine eventually winners will always get their due respect on merit alone, but if you want to be real then the fact is he doesn't speak english and is no reality tv hoe he doesnt even like the pre fight fluff liike many boxers today so he will never be a ppv star but he will most likely be one of the most dominant boxers in the history of the sport if he keeps it up, he will make more money than he ever would in a billion years in Cuba and that life is not too bad.
The lack of promotion made the people who had already paid for tickets walk out of the arena.

800 punches thrown is playing tag now? Dude was throwing long range uppercuts trying to get through the guard and Agbeko wasn't going down I saw him do all he could playing there sometimes but to no fruit if Agbeko would have opened up even a little he would have gotten knocked out for the first time in his career but that was exactly what he said he was trying to avoid in the post fight interview. Agbeko was the biggest fking let down this year for me idk if it was Rigo traumatizing him or what but that is not the fighter who whipped Mares azz and beat Darchinyan.
