This guy is the epitome of boxing, hit and not get hit.
I do understand the point of view from a casual boxing fan saying it's not so exciting watching, there isn't much going on, we wanna see a war etc, but this is not the man for that job.
When this man fights, the exciting part is wondering when is he gonna get hit, how the other opponent is gonna approach a guy with such a amazing counter attack abilities and defense.
Just like the compubox said, Agbeko has a record for a lot punches landed in four fights, but when he encountered Guillermo Rigondeaux, he also made another record.......for almost landing none.
When I watch Mayweather fight I'm not looking for someone to knock him out, I'm looking for someone who can crack his defense and put him in a uncomfortable position, after that happens so will his first defeat.
"I don't like him! He's not brawling!"
This isn't checkers, this is chess.
"I don't like him! He's boring!"
This isn't Scarface, it's The Godfather.

Listen everybody will eventually like Rigo because if he keeps winning the dude has 8 k.os in 13 fights guys who have the ballz to try will and do fall to him all he needs is more fights more guys in there willing to give their best . Rigo may be in his 30's but the sky is the limit he is fresher than a 25 year old never been hit his style is perfect for longevity we have much more to come.
the whole arena almost emptied out after Kirkland vs Tapia, that tells you all you need to know about the appeal Rigondeaux has, and it was the main event!
Nobody wants to pay to watch that sh*t!!!!!!
rigo may not be exciting to some but he will last much longer with his style, the figeroas and Ortiz's of this world are exciting but we don't get to see them as often now because they have to recover from previous wars. if I am a fan of a fighter I want him to come out safe and be ready for the next challenge, risking your life to excite the people is cool but when your career is cut short the potential is gone
He's old...he's not a young guy extending his career....he's a small old guy...and they don't last forever.
Rigondeaux is a wizard. He has so many attributes that make him very difficult to beat him.
- great speed
- great ring generalship
- good power
- great accuracy
- good chin
- good stamina
There isn't a flaw to his game and I can't wait till he leaves Top Rank. I think he has one fight under Top Rank and he's gone. Arum wants Rigo to fight Lomachecko so bad so he can try to damage Rigo's career since Rigo will leave Top Rank. It's the only fighter in Top Rank roster who can give Rigo a fight.
If Golden Boy sign Rigo, I know for sure that Santa Cruz will want to fight Rigo because Cruz isn't scared to fight anybody. If Rigo-Santa Cruz fight happens Rigo is going to destroy Santa Cruz and then we will see how boring Rigondeaux is.
I'm not even close to being a casual. That being said Rigo has no excuse for the performances put out. Sure there were not punches being thrown at him....then walk him down and throw your own. He's not a counter puncher don't be scared. I'd understand if it was like Donaire who is a counter puncher but come on....it has nothing to do with being a casual or only liking brawlers. Rigo is plain boring and that's the honest truth.
I perfer skilled boxing over brawling, but theres a time when you draw the line and say enough is enough. He has the skills to dispose of fighters he doesn't use them. He's not a draw prior and he has 0 selling points. He's old and the only way to make a name for himself at this point is to put effort forth or else he'll be a fantasy ghost. Rigo never fought anyone...but if he did how would x have played out...that's what he's going to be if he doesn't walk down these underskilled opponents.
Agbeko didnt come to fight. How is that Rigo's fault. It takes two fighters to make a good fight, if agbeko is gonna do his best clottey impersonation he should get most of the blame for the ****ty fight. Not everybody is manny pacquiao who is an offensive dynamo that can make any fight good for the most part.

I know one. His name is CubanGuyNYC.
lol
I love chess. I can watch two good players play anytime. Any strong chess player will. The key is that you have to know what you're looking at. To the untrained eye, it's just two men shuffling pieces around a checkered board. But to a good player, it's a world of infinite ideas and possibilities. I've learned a lot just by watching, and been entertained just as much. It's much the same with Rigo.
Bro it's like watching someone play chess while taking 70min to make a move, and when he does, another 50min to convince himself to let go of the piece.
***** was boring bro.
Hell yeah he hits hard he had Donaire running in the 12th round of their fight. When Rigondeaux throws a punch he makes it count and it must sting because all of a sudden the opponents output goes down.
I'm telling you, he imposed his power in the very first round of his last 2 fights and both Donaire and Agbeko reacted the same: Rarely throw punches. That straight left he hit Donaire with backed him up and it was pretty obvious that punch had Donaire nervous the whole fight. He came out pretty brave in the center of the ring, but then boom, left hand and Donaire wants noting to do with that left again. To Agbeko it was an uppercut when he was charging in with his head in the first round. King Kong was easily tamed immediately after that, you can look at his face how humbled he got after those repeated uppercuts.
Fans don't put out their hard-earned money to watch someone be a defensive master. That is not nor has it ever been the epitome of boxing.
Casuals don't need to understand anything they don't already. Warriors that lay it all down and take risks will continue to be rewarded, guys that fight like Rigo will continue to fight in front ot small crowds of boxing purists.
If that's how guys want to fight, fine, but the fans don't owe them a living.
I felt from the start that Bob Arum made this fight to further make Rigondeaux look uglier. Come on, Agbeko? Every one was hyped for this for some reason, but not me.I saw it as disrespect from Arum, leading up from his other disrespectful comments about Rigondeaux.
I didn't see Pacquiao exciting vs Clottey or Mosley, but then he's very exciting against fighters who come to him with no defense. Why not Rigo vs Arce? or Montiel? or Vazquez Jr? Same guys you fed to Donaire, give them to Rigo. I saw nothing exciting about Donaire-Narvaez. Agbeko didn't want to open up, Rigondeaux out threw him and had to throw punches to make Agbeko open up, to no avail. Put Rigondeaux in with defenseless brawlers and watch him look exciting.
Donaire tried taking the fight to Rigo in the first round of their fight. Guille stood his ground and exchanged. After that, Nonito decided to take a little off the gas. By the final round, Donaire was running for his life. Not too often you see a top-five P4P fighter do that.
There's a documentary with George Chuvalo where he describes his fight with Ali. He said something to the effect of, "You see him on TV and you know he's fast; but when you're actually in front of him it's like, 'Oh, my...oh, my, my, my, my.'" That's what it must be like to finally face Rigo in the flesh. No amount of training can prepare you for what's to come.Yeah I agree. His opponents are very concerned with his speed and power they look puzzled in the ring.

When you think bout it, this is the same Agbeko that fought two twelve round scraps with Mares. Why was he so loose with Abner but not Rigo? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to surmise that "El Chacal" hits very hard and accurately.Hell yeah he hits hard he had Donaire running in the 12th round of their fight. I enjoy watching him fight. The guy hits you hard where you afraid to make a mistake against him or take a risk in getting KO. He had Agbeko scared straight its not his fault he makes it look easy.

I wonder how many people who enjoy those fights actually enjoy watching 2 men play chess
The same people who enjoy movies for the great cinematography and tell you that you just don't get it. And just because I say it's boring doesn't mean I don't see his greatness it's just watching his greatness puts me to sleep just ask the tens of people at the fight last night. Just so Rigo understands even a rematch with Donaire doesn't mean you get the lions share of the pot you don't sell tickets.

Yes, it's sad that people would rather watch Nonito looking to land one punch in an entire fight, than watch Guillermo put on a clinic for twelve rounds.
If that's how guys want to fight, fine, but the fans don't owe them a living.
We owe no one nothing, but as boxing fans we have to appreciate the masterful performance we witness when we watch people like Guillermo and Lara. We as boxing fans understand, but that's why we have to make the casuals understand also that there's more than toe-to-toe fights. There;s different ways to win a fight. Anyone can brawl, but not everyone can box like they do.
