Money Team Handler States Terms for Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao Bout
By David King
COMMENTARY | Ever since Manny Pacquiao's domination of Brandon Rios on Nov. 23, Top Rank Promotion's CEO Bob Arum has tried to convince the boxing community that he's, once again, serious about getting the Filipino congressman inside the ring with Floyd Mayweather.
Of course, it's hard for knowledgeable boxing fans to take Arum seriously given the fact he's been the biggest obstacle in the way of a way of a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super-fight.
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer would probably agree with the assessment, and he set some clear terms for the still-demanded super-fight, making sure Pacquiao knows exactly what he needs to do if he's serious about ever sharing the same ring with Floyd.
"He's using Mayweather's name to drum up publicity of Pacquiao," Schaefer said in response to Arum's recent statements about organizing the super-fight. "When it is convenient for him, he uses Mayweather's name. Mayweather is pretty clear, as clear as it can be. He is not going to be dealing with Arum or Todd or anyone else over there. He doesn't need them. If you want Mayweather-Pacquiao, then okay. Make Pacquiao available and Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions will take care of everything. ... We are not looking to cut Arum out, this is not about not paying Bob. He can have his Top Rank logo on the banner, no problem. He can have a few seats, no problem. It's nothing to do with disrespecting, but if he thinks he's the driving force here - what arrogance does the guy have? ... What does Arum think that he's the godfather of boxing? Who the hell does he think he is? People have to come and call him and kiss his ring or kiss his ass. That's not going to happen. It's unheard of."
Interesting comments from Schaefer considering the fact Arum recently told USA Today that there is no animosity between himself and Mayweather. Given the history of failed negotiations between the two camps, Schaefer is certainly being more honest about the situation.
It's hard to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao materializing as long as Arum is still in the picture.
For the super-fight to ever happen, Schaefer also made it clear Pacquiao won't get anything close to a 50/50 revenue split.
"We are using his blueprint. The same thing he said with Donaire, that Donaire was such a bigger star than Mares," Schaefer added. "Okay, you know what; we will use your own blueprint. And there is no disputing, no question that Mayweather is the number one star in the sport. Mayweather is the highest paid athlete in the world. And with his TMT brand - he makes more money from the TMT brand than Pacquiao makes fighting. I've seen the numbers."

Exactly. Manny wants to fight now? He can forget about even split of the money.
I'm certain Arum will throw up another road block soon. Which is why May doesn't care whether the fight gets made or not at this point.
Manny needs HIM, not the other way around.
Floyd fought Cotto for a title and at a higher weight without Arum.
 Floyd fans are hilarious. Did you even read what Floyd and company said? After Arum said "This fight has to happen", Floyd and company basically put out the latest and greatest roadblock just to make sure that this fight is stalled some more until they see a Manny lose another step or two. Then Manny will be their man.
Just like Floyd fighting Cotto after he fought in all those wars. It was like 5 years too late ..... it's 4 years for Manny vs Floyd (since 2009), so it's almost time.
who's really creating roadblocks?
lets define "creation" first.
cre·a·tion
noun \krē-ˈā-shən\
: the act of making or producing something that did not exist before : the act of creating something
1.blood test: had mayweather demanded any blood test previous to pacquiao negotiations
2.beat bradley and marquez first: does mayweather ask any fighter to beat such and such fighter before.
3.leave arum: had he ask any fighter other than pacquiao to leave his promoter.
4.flat fee. had he ask any fighter belonging to top 10 p4p a flat fee without any share of the pvp whatsoever.
5. relevance of a fighter: he had ask for a relevance of a fighter considered fighter of the decade.

The only so called road block here is actually Mayweather, if he say yes to the fight its should be on already. Enough BS.

IMO its just a way of Shaefer to actually making this fight happen. Who doesnt want a most likely $100 million purse anyway? If this fight doesnt happen is a simple lose lose situation. At the end of the day money talks no?
What does this have to do with Floyd constantly moving the goal post and having a different reason why he wont fight Pac?
To answer your question..NO. Manny is a great fighter but a dumb business man. Arum makes the call when it comes to Manny. Once again, what does this have to do with Floyd not having a problem with Arum being part of the fight up until Pac accepted all his testing terms?
Since the answer is no, then why are you trying to create a false narrative? Arum has to agree to make the fight. Manny saying something on tv or in print means nothing. Arum proved by stopping negotiations and fighting Clottey back in 09 that he would not make the fight. Everyone assumed it was over drug testing or not being able to work with Floyd or his team. The truth is he did not believe Manny could win. Why is that so hard to believe? Do you consider that moving the goal posts or was that just a business decision. When FMJ fought on May 5 before going to jail? Was the cut on Manny's eye or the stadium being built moving the goal posts or just a business decision? The fact that Arum states drug testing is not a issue, proves that he did not want to make the fight back in 09. Everyone wants the fight but Bob Arum. There is no other conclusion that can be made. Damn, even Freddie Roach was quoted saying, " I really hope that Bob makes that fight happen for us." But it is Floyd's fault.

isnt that what negotiating is for? one man offers a deal then you counter. you dont just say no to the highest guaranteed purse of your career and perhaps ever in boxing without at least a counter offer. Like hey i'll take it but i want 20% or something. oh and by the way DOWN GOES TROUT!!!!! LARA FTW LOL (random)
Do u really need me to post the video of Floyd saying that before anything Pac MUST accept the 40mil? You're right. That is what negotiations are for. Team Pac felt it was a low blow offer that wasnt serious and Arum even countered the offer with a better offer that Floyd never responded to.
I even found this:
"We had an offer, a legitimate offer on the table for 180 million dollars and people due to fight and had a big upside of 180 for the two fight camps. That's when he said 55-45 which would've given Mayweather 100 million. (Pacquiao) would've ended up with 80 million and that's still a lot of money right? But Mayweather will not fight him. Now why am I saying that? I'm not saying it to be, I know the guy and I know what his problem is, Mayweather, because we had him for 10 and a half years and his problem was he hated, he never wanted to face a southpaw and a southpaw that can move and punch with his left hand makes Mayweather completely vulnerable. All you have to do was watch him in the (DeMarcus) Corley fight where he didn't realize Corley was one when he made the fight. Corley shook him up and had him in trouble. Why? Because Mayweather is a sensational defensive fighter but that's against an orthodox guy. If he goes against a southpaw he opens himself up. You saw that happen in the Cotto fight because Cotto is a right handed fighter but he's really a southpaw that's converted and Cotto hurt him because he doesn't have a good defense to the left hand."
I've read/seen video of him saying both. Even with his back end comment. Would you take that offer without knowing what the back end is until you first accept the 40mil offer? Floyd can come back and say "ok I'll give you %2 percent and I'll keep the rest". That was not a serious offer.

......so what your saying is that you've never seen floyd say no ppv either but that he did say something about pac getting a ppv split aka "back end" right gotcha

At first Floyd offered a flat fee of $40mil. In later interviews he stated that he offered Pac the $40mil but that Pac would have to agree to that FIRST then later on they can talk about the "back end". Who's gonna sign off on a deal like that? Floyd is basically saying "Sign the contract for 40mil and I'll tell you how much ppv revenue I'm willing to split with you after the fact". LOL

Posting a video has nothing to do with who the boss is. Simple question - So you think Manny makes the call? A yes or no will suffice.

Do I really need to start posting videos of Floyd saying that all Pac has to do is take random unlimited blood tests and the fight can get done? Even as recent as right before Floyd went to jail Floyd claimed he wanted to fight Pac as long as he took the tests and NEVER said anything regarding not doing the fight because of Arum. Only as of recently has Floyd used the Arum excuse along with the "Pac must first rematch Bradley and Marquez excuse", along with the "Manny must become a TMT fighter first". Etc..
Floyd never once mentioned anything about not fighting Pac because of Arum when he was offering Pac the $40mil so why is that the reason now? Why is there always another roadblock being put up by Floyd?

Seriously, you post like Manny is in charge of something. So you think Manny makes the call? A yes or no will suffice. If not, then stop making sentences in the bold. Arum has always been the excuse. You just will not admit it. Arum is the boss. Everyone knows Manny just gets in the ring. Manny holds no power. Did Manny cut off negotiations with Floyd to fight Clottey? No, Arum did. Arum did not believe Manny could win. Plain and simple. Not complicated.

This is what I dont understand when it comes to Floyd. How come Arum wasnt an excuse until Pac accepted all testing terms? I thought testing was the issue and Floyd has reiterated this hundreds of times. Even when Floyd did his fake call out and gave Pac a flat fee $40mil offer. Floyd did not seem to mind or care if Arum was in the picture or not. Why now after Pac has accepted all his testing requirements?

this is amazing.......Everybody knows Manny needs Floyd but they're happy to blame Floyd for this fight not happening.
And why da hell are ppl naming what they "think" are roadbloccs from Floyd but nothing from Manny's side? Like Manny/Arum didnt make excuses not to fight Floyd?
And lastly, can anybody please show me anywhere where Floyd Mayweather jr said 40 mil no PPV? I know when asked he said he offered pac 40 mil, 20 in 48 hrs and the other 20 later and that nobody is getting 50/50 from him which is fair in my opinion, but where did he specifically say NO PPV AT ALL? Just curious
^^^ my post got avoided like the plague lol

Pacman just needs to rematch Bradley, then retire win or lose.
Forget the duck. He will never fight you, man. He scared, doe.:D
The duck already stated on video Pacman needs to avenge his loses
first and join TMT. What a duck!
But I'm looking forward to Floyd vs Khan :D
It's also possible Floyd is hoping Maidana would beat Broner
Then we'll get Floyd vs Maidana next :D
:unitedsta
Floyd has blazing fast hands and reflexes, is very cautious, minimalist in his offense, paces himself so well, knows how to move just enough to make you reach, or he can duck or roll and counter. He can make you miss and cause you to get frustrated at your inability to land, and he can counter and make you pay. If you fall asleep defensively for a moment, his glove will be in your face and you will barely see it coming. He is perfectly content to eek dull rounds. As long as he is faster than everyone, no one is going to beat him. Like Jack Johnson, his style is a nightmare for anyone.
Maybe some of you just need help remembering the the excuses Arum has made.......so i'll help you:
