martinez vs golovking gifs not found!
reason: ducking!
I bet my bottom dollar, if this was 3-4 years ago, he would've fought GGG, no problems.
But yeah, Dibella's ducking.
sergio was landing shots but williams was controling the pace, forcing a pace martinez stood no chance of keeping up with. so the fight was going williams' way but then he got a bit overconfident and sloppy while martinez was looking for a big shot to keep him at bay, the rest is history.
But in a way, that's what gave Sergio success of landing on Paul. If Paul had stayed on the outside, and boxed like he did in the 1st fight, during the middle rounds, he wouldn't have been KOd.
Paul damn near gave Sergio that KO, and that was plain idiotic of him. He was getting tagged HARD during those exchanges, and he was without a doubt winning that round prior to getting the KO.
You might say that he was putting on a pace that Sergio couldn't handle, but that's probably what Sergio wanted as well.
Lucky punch? That guy is crazy.
I loved how in the 1st round, the HBO crew gave Sergio absolutely no props at all. Kellerman was the only one pointing out how Sergio was landing some serious shots.

Chavez is the same size as Ward, probably a little bit bigger. Ward just never drained himself down to a weight he had no real business making to fight smaller opposition.
Chavez jr is 2 inches taller than ward and has hydrated over 180lbs at 160, where as ward has never hydrated over 175lbs at 168.
Well Ward is bigger than Chavez and Floyd is much smaller than him. I don't think Sergio getting dropped by huge MW's and getting up to win hurts him much, but it isn't a good look.

Good thread man.
Murray was robbed, Margarito was a clean fighter back then and Chavez Jr's training camp consisted of smoking pot and eating cereal at midnight. Imagine if Floyd/Ward got dropped by JCC Jr.. Page 1 of NSB would be full of "EXPOSED/FRAUD/ALL HYPE/GLASS/SLOW" etc.

sergio still won 2 of those 3 and the margarita one was all plaster and him getting stuck in ropes' fault lol

Some guy said this was a lucky punch the other day. I couldn't believe what I was reading. He landed that punch perfectly. Sergio actually landed it consistently in the first fight too.

Of all the times I've seen Sergio dropped and there's been a afew I've never actually seen him dropped clean it's either a messy Kd like against Chavez or a balance/slip.
Given how long he's been mixing it at top level that's pretty impressive. The pw ko is still the best I've seen in the last few years
No offense to P-Will or any of his fans.
