That bullsh*t knockdown cost Lucas the fight.
I admit I called this one wrong. I'm sorry but I don't give Garcia full respect for this win.
I've never seen a fighter get away with so many low blows in all my life. 6 warnings before a point and countless he got away with!
All that excessive clinching and he low-blowed Lucas too death. He was purposely doing it and purposely hitting Lucas on the thighs.
I'm more disappointed with Lucas than anything. I just can't believe he didn't stop the guy. I'm not convinced this guys better than him in anyway, shape or form.
Interesting angle.
Still think Lucas breaks him in half in the rematch.
I'm not even a Garcia fan really, though I hope he does well, he's a young american fighter who's undefeated, and underrated.
The guy who has "nothing but a left hook" took that hook, defeated the big bad Lucas Matthysse who'd kill anyone in the history of the world on the same night, and parlayed all that into contention for fighting Mayweather.
Danny is the man
Nah. Garcia won fair and square. He needs to cash in on that performance. When you put yourself in position to cash in you have to strike while your hot.
Don't know why Lucas fans want to see the rematch. I suspect he'll lose even more one-sidedly if it comes off.
Because the first fight was a good fight and we have a reason to be optimistic. Lucas was winning until the eye injury, which basically lost him the fight. By the time he got back in it after that happened, he had lost too many rounds.
I think I agree with you, though, it's more likely that Danny is better in the rematch and wins more decisively than it is that both remain the same and Lucas wins.
Both guys were much more tentative and tactical in this fight than people were expecting. Clearly the eye injury changed everything, but that's not Danny's problem. I do think Matthysse did very well to come so close to winning the fight after that happened, especially when you consider what a sharp counterpuncher Garcia is on the inside.
Regardless of the dodgy knockdown, the swollen eye etc., the one thing that really undid Lucas was his hesitancy in the inside and his failure to punch with the opponent. Obviously Danny's a tough guy to do that with but Matthysse too often fell into his bad habit of waiting for the other guy finish before going to work himself.
I wouldn't mind a rematch but not now. Lucas needs to get a decent win under his belt to make things more worthy never the less contemplating retirement. There was no indication in the fight at any moment that suggested that Garcia was ever hurt, wobbled, nor stunned and it's the Matthysse that was destroying everything in his way, so credit to Garcia's chin. Fair play and no excuses from the Matthysse camp so kudos to them he'll bounce back.
no need for a rematch right now,,,
Danny will be even more confident, lucas will be less confident,,
Danny would beat him worse the 2nd time around..
lucas needs to go back to the drawing board like maidana did after alexander, and work on his skills,,, he looked really one-dimensional in there, and didnt make any adjustments, just kept coming forward and getting tagged by danny
I thought Garcia was ducking "Doe"? I thought Angel was scared doe? I thought they enrolled Danny in a witness protection doe" ? I thought he wouldn't sign the contract doe? Oh well months after the fight has been fought and the winner has been decided like men in the ring, we still have excuses laid out by the "fans" outside of it SMH.
...............
When is this ever going to stop???
Lucas fans are a bunch of............

Mathysse fans = sore losers. Maybe if mathysse was able to knock garcia out early (like yall thought he would), yall wouldn't be crying about a rematch. Even at worse, let say it was a draw or mathysse did win by a point for two, it still isn't enough to take the champions belt. Needless to say, mathysse lost convincingly. Out of the low blows that yall are complaining about, only one affected mathysse (in the 12th round) but by that time the outcome of the fight had been decided. The ref would warn Danny about low blows because they were close to but not exactly on the private area. The ref would warned Danny even if it landed on the hip. Not to mention, outside of one or maybe two, them low blows came behind garcias head being held low. Mathysse rushes in with shots and that would make it a sloppy fight so garcia would have no choice but to hold him and push him back. And for all of you dudes talking about mathysse beating garcia in a rematch, just know that garcia is only getting better. He was improvising and adapting as the fight went on. Imagine now that he knows what to do. Shut out!!!!! Btw, though mathysse's eye miraculously got shut, his corner would re open it to the start of every round, only for it to get shut back closed with a left hook. Won't yall talk about how Danny already had the fight won but still decides to slug it out for the last 10 seconds? Or how Danny is the only fighter then didn't get dropped by a Lucas punch, not even dazed. Btw, unless it was a slip, its a knock down. Taking a knee is even considered a knock down, you mean to tell me that "mathysse falling because he wanted to avoid punches is not a knock down?" Not to mention, Danny had him cornered and was hooking away. Lol yall pathetic.... Neeeeext!!!
A rematch would be cool. The first fight was close enough. So...why not? I have a feeling Danny would win the return, though. Something tells me Lucas missed his best opportunity.
Danny doesn't need to do anything! Lol take your whooping like a man son. Wasnt he suppose to ko dsg in like 3 measly rds???? Yeah, sorry that ain't happen bro.
I remember hyping this fight up telling all my friends it was gonna be a war lol but then Garcia boxed and slowed up the action which I cant blame him for, was a very close fight and the knockdown was bs but like many I expected much more action but Garcia shows u something new every fight
I saw a clear win by Garcia. Never heard Lucas complain of the loss of the knockdown. Garcia took Lucas big punches. Lucas did hold also and hit and pulled down Garcia in the back of the head.
Garcia did not win because he was hittling Lucas low or was holding on.
This sounds like the Khan fans saying the same thing that in a rematch Garcia will lose
