Why is it ok to hate on one boxer, but not another

As a fan (short for fanatic), you're allowed to have subjective dispositions on fighters (i.e. who you root for and who you don't root for). The basis for who root for does not have to (and should not have to) be based on objective criteria. Being a fan is a personal experience and expression. It doesn't have to have underlying purpose or meaning; it's just an individual choice you get to make with or without justification. I give a lot of sh1t to floyd and pac fans, but we're all the same in a way. We get to choose who we root for and for whatever underlying purpose. That purpose does not need a justification. Of course there are underlying prejudices and racial issues (which impact the analysis), but if you just like or don't like a boxer for any particular reason (outside of racism or prejudice), I think it's fine and you don't need to justify it whatsoever. TS is right.. ppl are hypocrites. its okey to like or even respect some fighters more than others, but all world class fighters deserve a certain amount of respect. ALL OF THEM. yet ppl dissrespect one guy then complain when someone they like gets dissrespected. just like TS' example of them wishing one guy gets brutally knocked out then complaining when someone says they wish someone else gets the same.

Because fanboys take everything personal I'm no fan of Broner, I actually don't rate him at all and he's very ****y, but I don't want him to be knocked out, however if he gets knocked out then that's that, I want him to prove me wrong I love when a boxer proves me wrong Danny Garcia is prime example, I rather be a fan of the boxer than a hater. If every boxer were to get knocked out because I don't like them, then I'd have less boxing to watch, I want to see more boxers be successful so I have more fights to watch I love watching a boxers journey

Who cares? Everyone gets hated on on here. Everyone is overhyped, everyone who is being talked about has to be "the next big thing," everyone being talked about is the "new Mattysee," every black fighter has to be "slick," if he's not he sucks.... Every white fighter has to be a mindless, crude face first brawler, if he's not he sucks, every Mexican has to fight like Salido, if he doesn't, he either sucks or he's not really Mexican. Rematches against clearly-outclassed opponents ate OKAY as long as said fighter fits your agenda/is your favorite fighter; every guy with power is a brawler and can't box, every foreign fighter is overhyped or a bum because they don't look or speak like me, every Briyish fighter has a glass chin, every Puerto Rican is a quitter, etc..... Just weed out the people like that, it's not hard... Although annoying

Example, i see lots of people saying stuff like "i hope maidana knocks broner the fuk out11!" then people start a circle jerk. But if you say "I hope GGG gets knocked out" then people say "how could you want that, youre not a real fan" explain this garbage to me Nah, there's plenty of hate to go round. There's always just as many guys ready to hate on GGG or Broner (or whoever) as praise either and always just as many to say anyone who wants either KOed ain't no boxing fan. It's more that you notice it more when it goes against your personal feelings. In the main I think it's partly a kind of proxy way of getting at other posters you dislike (ie. by wanting to see 'their' fighter stopped to bring them down a peg or two) - although their are some fighters whose out of ring antics do seem to invite more criticism and distain than others. Whole thing's pretty silly IMO but it can be hard to give any opinion on boxing forums without provoking a reaction from someone.

its not just about broner, i just used him as an example, you can substitute him for whoever youd like they know what you mean.....they said the same ish about bradley, alexander and khan. these guys fight everybody and still get **** on.

Holding the Pac fight against him is stupid. Garcia- His father. Angel brings that on his son, doesn't seem to bother them. Pacquiao- His career the last few years. Floyd- His seeming reluctance to fight certain fighters in his career and his behavior outside the ring. Hopkins- Says some stupid stuff throughout his career, ugly style, but if you're still hating on that old man the way he's winning fights at near 50, you need to stop. Absurd GGG fans. It's like that with every fanbase though. Go against "their guy" and they'll jump all over you. It's human nature to try to be a part of "something". Once you feel your apart of something I.E. the GGG bandwagon your group is right and everyone else is wrong. That's just the general version of it. As for the thread starter, a couple reasons. One there's an absurd amount of racists or plain idiots on this forum. Thats some of it, though mostly it's because of his personality. It's who he is and it defines him...also makes him as watched as he is. People want to see Mayweather knocked out and he loves it, he doesn't need defending because all the people who talk trash still watch him, same goes for Broner or Garcia. Deal with it, you shouldn't let you opinions be influenced by that of others who add little to the discussion. If they attack you for saying one thing, with nothing to support the reasoning, they're just plain dumb in my opinion. Of which the TS is quite possibly one of the worst you will find here.
