Tyson,Holmes and Joe Louis fought in a terrible era for heavyweights...And once the Heavyweight division heated up in Tysons era he was a non factor...sure this era is not great but outside of the 70's and 90's when was the heavyweight division hot?? Tyson,Louis and Holmes are held in very high standards so why is Wlad given so much slack?

everyone watched tyson, holmes and louis. No one watches wlad. he fights in europe or on epix. his HBO fights have been atrocious for the most part.
How can a fan give wlad the same credit as them.
Man has over 60 wins and over 50 kos...with only 3 loses...that is damn impressive
but wilder is 30-0 30 KOs doe...lets crown wilder as the super-galatic, rock of all ages, GOAT, super diamond crusted gold champion of the universe because of that record...
but in all seriousness, wlad panics on the inside as much as an amir khan fan when he gets touched on the chin.

He will be highly regarded after his career ends. Louis and Holmes both displayed elite skill sets to go along with long title runs. Holmes was undefeated in his prime, Louis lost 1 fight.
Wlad as a young man lost to Purrity, Sanders and Brewster and visited the canvas 12 times. In his best years, he resembled a less versatile Lennox Lewis. Never developed a killer inside punch or learned to be effective punching in close, which Lewis could do if needed.
Holmes had some of the quickest hands and feet in the division. Perhaps the best jab, and a great 1-2. Good finisher and great chin. Beat a prime Ray Mercer when he was in his 40's, better opponent than Wlad has ever beaten
Louis was a great combination puncher (triple left hooks) and perhaps the best ever boxer/puncher at heavyweight. Setup knockouts like no one else, great right hand, underrated boxing skills.
Tyson was the most devastating combination of speed and power in history. Initially was very good at setting up knockouts and a great combination puncher. Quickly neglected technique, became a 1 punch KO artist, Buster Douglas, jail...you know the story
Mentality and impact. The prior 3 all had something special. Holmes was a well rounded monster technician though not generally loved by the public.Joe louis a quiet, sound and iconic destroyer. And Tyson the youngest, most explosive, and exciting heavyweight of all time. Wlad is a good heavyweight but his lack of risk/action takes away from his appeal.
Wlad has had many exciting kos, he was very aggressive against Thompson in their 2nd fight and boxed beautifully on his toes against Wach, yes the last fight against Sasha was awful but all of his fights do not look like that.
No but most do.
Reasons:
Huge size advantage
Lack of Attacking skills
Reluctance to go for kill
Not an all round boxer
Boring Personality
Boring to watch
Grabs & Holds
Quality of Opposition
Looks Sloppy
Usually a fighter will have one of these and I say ok but when you combine so many ****ty factors into one fighter I blacklist you.
Boxing fans like the throwback fighters because they possessed a variety of skills and attacks in their arsenals and could adapt and improvise under pressure. We've lost a lot of great HW boxing trainers and there are a lot of bums in the division.
Because they were in exciting fights despite them being in poor eras? I still don't think Holmes' era is comparable to this one, but Tyson's is.
Could you imagine Tyson going 12 rounds with sloths like Peter, Chambers, Ibragimov, Wach etc?
It's because of the fact that they still stink the place out despite being in poor eras that they are criticized.
Yes I can definitely see that.
I cant see Wlad dragging James Smith, Tony Tucker, Donovan Ruddock to 12.
Wlad is one dimensional, possess a good arsenal of punches that he refuses to use due to fear, because of his reluctance to mix up his attack he becomes repetitive and almost unwatchable. People don't appreciate him for obvious reasons, why some act oblivious to them is beyond me, it really really is.
Nailed it.
Dude is 6-8, has 1 punch KO power in both hands and fights like a fairy. Its sickening. And 10 times out of 10 hes fighting an over matched guy and he still fights like a fairy.
When Steward has to embarrass you in the corner to light a fire under you its a sad day.
His name should never be mentioned in the same breath as Joe Louis or Holmes.
your actually right on this,,,
Holmes got no love during his day, neither did lewis, but with time people realize how damn good those guys really are
Same thing with the klits,,, in the year 2050 people will show alot of love for the klits
I agree. holmes and lewis got alot of the same criticism wlad gets. tyson got mostly praise becuz he was wacking guys out early left and right unlike wlad and holmes and lewis to an extent

Well, to be fair to the oldies, this is era is without a shadow of a doubt, the worst era of heavyweights EVER! But i get your point homeboy, Louis probably had one of the worst string of title defences of all time, not quite as bad as Wlad cos he managed to squeeze in fights against great contenders...sadly Wlad has lacked any of that.
Tyson unified the belts by brutal KOs and showed he was a league or 2 above his opponents, so I don't think that's a bad reign, plus he destroyed Holmes, who went on to give Holy everything he could handle. He also made a laughing stock of SPinks who was THE MAN in the division and one of the best light heavies ever who had beaten Holmes in his heavyweight run.
Holmes had a similar reign to Wlad, very similar in fact but he still managed to face names like Norton and do a lot post prime, continuing to function at a very high level.
How Wlad will be remembered is largely his own fault, when he should have gone for the kill e.g. Povetkin he didn't, he made a mockery of the sport that night and this is comin from a Wlad fan but there's no excusing that performance, especially since it wasn't the first time.
Wlad will be praised when he retires and people realize how good he was when there looking for someone to take his place.
That's how boxing has been since the beginning of time, fans don't know what they have until it's gone.
