Despite no one truly being a real WW threat, all those guys rehydrate on fight night against Manny. Most of the time Manny has fought guys whose fight night weights were in the LMW-MW division. Manny doesn't even reach 150 on fight night.
The only one he stopped, Miguel Cotto.. he weighed in on fight night at 146 for his fight just before Manny with Clottey.
The reason Manny no longer gets the KO's, is because over the past 2-3 years, his foot and hand speed have decreased a bit.
He is still fast all around, but now at least his opponents can see them coming and prepare for the shots. He also fights a bit more caustiously now. His straight left for an example, is not thrown with the ill intent he used to throw it, mainly because he pulls it in fear of getting countered, as he knows himself that he is a bit slower.
But y'all sure talk trash about Floyd not stopping anyone when he's Mannys size. The double standards on this board are amazing
Do people really talk trash about that? You might be the biggest idiot in the world complaining about box-your-ears-off Mayweather not stopping people.
I only started this thread for Manny's zero knockout ratio at welterweight yet people are trying to argue his power is a myth when they're missing the whole argument.
What this thread was meant to point at was, since Mayweather does not count as one of these guys that rehydrate past 154, how would Manny's punches effect Mayweather? That was the question this thread was supposed to spring up but I guess no one caught on.
Regardless who Manny fights even if they're big men, these guys' face come out bruised up if not bloodied. Except Tim Bradley, the dude's skull is hard as a rock.
Adam Ali breaks down Mayweather's resume...

Well Mosley sure did rag doll granite chin Margo..and Alvarado made granite chin Rios do a dance a couple times..so i guess Alvarado hits harder then Manny?
According to Rios himself Mike does hit harder then Manny, The problem here is pacquaio slowed alot power is not what it was at the lighter weights and he usually hurt people by hitting them multiple times at once and dazing them, he not able to do that against these real welter cause usually these real welters can take the punch quite decently and throw some hard fire back where I think Manny is feeling the shots more and more as of late.
Look at Rios, he landed punches on Pacquaio and got big reaction out of pacquaio, Rios is just too slow on his feet cause his timing was there just he too slow on his feet to put him in the proper position to tag pacquaio.
Pretty much. NOT TO MENTION, Manny's speedy power punches turn most fighters into shells, and when you go into defensive mode; it's hard to knock you out. The reason he knocked Cotto out was because, if you look at the replay, Cotto actually tried and was determined to throw.
This nailed it on the head pretty much.
look at the guys he has fought at welter,,
oscar- who has stopped oscar before at welter - old and dehydrated
cotto- only stopped my margs - dehydrated
shane- never been stopped - old
clottey- never been stopped - had the ****s
margs- never been stopped - long lay off, his concrete was taken away, was stopped by Mosley
rios- never been stopped - never fought a top level fighter
bradley- never been stopped - broken legs
jmm- never been stopped - old
Its tough for any fighter to score ko over another top level fighter

If you take into account the level of opposition and the fact that nearly all of these guys have never been stopped, its easy to see why manny doesnt ko welters,,
Its tough for any fighter to score ko over another top level fighter
Pacquiao is so great his fans completely eliminate stoppages from his opponents records.
Mosley TKO9 ring a bell?
Manny stopped getting knockouts when his opponents became more and more focused on defense because of his KO reputation. Hard to KO a guy who is very focused on not getting KO'd. Rios is a perfect example, any other opponent and Rios would have eaten whatever punches they would have thrown in order to throw his own, not with Pac tho as he felt the power and didn't want to get caught with something he didn't see and as a result was never able to get any decent shots off.
Manny hits hard and usually gets his result from an accumulation of hard shots...hell even the Hatton fight he hurt him several times prior to dropping a perfect bomb.
rios fought scared last week.he felt something.hes lucky his glove caught some of that big left in the 5th round . plus many didn't really sit down on his punches imo. he was moving constantly
Yea the Pac power question is outrageous and I hate reading all these articles about how the Pac from 2009 would have laid Rios to waste...and oh Pac hasn't had a KO since 2009...it's all ridiculous.
Pacquiao has consistently seriously hurt every fighter he's fought since he moved to WW except maybe Clottey but that's cause he didn't come out of his shell.
He hurt Margs w a right hook, he hurt Shane like no one has since Forrest...Bradley was rocked and bothered by the power and we've seen him hurt Marquez before but Marquez just knows how to fight him.
He may not be scoring the KO's but he still has elite power...he's just fighting bigger guys so he's not putting them all away, that doesn't mean he's in steep decline.
Margarito tried to win he was just shot to pieces.
But yeah agree with what you're saying.
You mean, getting broken down into little pieces by a little Filipino guy that throws machine gun like punches. :boxing:
yes they were all super durable guys that could take some good shots,,
And in reality, yes the manny fights were kinda underwhelming, but i think it was because manny was so more vastly skilled than those guys,,
clottey took margs and cotto to the final bell in very close competitive fights that could have gone either way, but when faced with manny, clottey is completely scared to let his hands go..
Same thing goes with shane, and margs
Only one that really tried to win was cotto early but after about 4 rounds he went into survival mode
