These are probably the two fights I want to see him in next. It's time for him to move up. He's beaten the best at 168 and a bunch of solid contenders there. He's got no more business at 168.
Golovkin is a relatively small natural middleweight compared to many of the others in the division - Rosado was the slightly bigger guy & he was supposed to be a big Jnr. middleweight.
Whereas Ward is a natural light-heavy who has no problems making the 168lb limit due to his discipline & excellent training habits.
He competed at the olympics at light-heavy, & there really isn't any excuse for him to not move up & face guys at his natural weight apart from trying to squeeze a little more money out of the division in some showcase bouts (ie. Chavez Jr).
I thought the Dirrell brothers said they'd never fight Ward. I want to see Groves fight someone else good at 168 first.
I don't remember Anthony saying anything like that, but I could be wrong. I think Ward should wait at 168 for GGG. That's a pretty good sized PPV in a year or so.
Despite what we have to say about it, Ward will take the fight that makes the most $$$ and there is nothing wrong with that, up to a point. Biggest fight now is with Chavez Jr who would look like a chimichanga at 175.
Forget about GGG...he's not a big enough draw just yet.
golovkin actaully does better on hbo than ward. chicks dig russian power punchers.
almost as good as JR, lol.
I think Ward is smart enough NOT to do that, the risk is just too much (just ask Chad Dawson). I think he'll more likely ask Golovkin to move up or ask the 2 to move down rather than face Stevenson/Kovalev in their weight class.
after golovkin moves up to face him...............in realty ward wants the golovkin fight.
i think it's pretty obvious that hbo is trying to build golovkin into a big draw, and match him with ward. they've even been dropping hints about it on broadcasts.
if stevenson and kovelev fight eachtother, the winner may very well belong on the p4p list. they're very good fighters. stevenson is really boxing well these days, and kovalev has a unique style and a massive punch.
either fight would be good for ward, but i'd prefer it if they fought each other first, and ward were allowed to get the winner.
Exactly, put GG in his place then tear through LHW
I think Ward should fight the winner of Groves-Froch II in England first.
ward isn't going to go to england. certainly not after the groves stoppage. if that ship hadn't sailed, it definitely sailed on saturday. you can't be sure of proper officiating in the UK.

this, and i think it's pretty obvious.
HBO is 100% behind those two. HBO has a ton of influence over boxing.
you don't need to sell a million ppv to make a f#cking ton of money.

Anthony Dirrell was Ward`s mandatory last year and he wanted to fight Ward, but Ward didn`t want to fight him.He was gonna give up the belt so Anthony could fight for the vacant title, but Anthony got into a motorcycle accident which made him have a year layoff.

Ward and moving up in weight don`t belong in the same sentence. That`s like asking a lion to become a vegetarian, aint happening jackson.
If I had it my way:
-Ward/Stieglitz in early 2014 (last loose end at 168)
-Stevenson vs. Pascal/Bute and Kovalev/Fonfara in early 2014
-Ward/Stevenson and Kovalev vs. Dawson or Braehmer in mid 2014
-Winners fight each other in late 2014
Of course, all of this is under the assumption that Adonis and Kov leave the ring unscathed this upcoming Saturday.
Or Ward could just beat them both, along with the Bute/Pascal winner, and make his run at 175 as impressive as his run at 168 from 2009-2011 was.
This. Why does LHW have to clear itself out for the pleasure of Ward nabbing one win when he can clear out the division akin to his SMW run?
Notice it will be the Pro Ward posters sharing these opinions. Let's not also forget that Ward doesn't have alot of worthy challegers in the near future.
Good question. I am a big Ward fan but it seems to me like he wants no part of those big time power punchers at 175. He seems to want to try and milk every single ounce from a weight class he's dominated.
Marvin Hagler.

never? he wouldn't even fight bute because he had to prove himself yet he fights rodriguez but then again rodriguez was the lineal 175 pound champ so nm
All Bute had to do was beat Froch and he'd have gotten the Ward fight. Was that really so hard? Yes it was really hard considering what happened. Also Bute was offered to join the Super 6 on a couple of occasions and turned it down. Ward felt that Bute was not the proven king with a great resume, that that fighters just have to fight for a spot.He felt he was the man to beat and Bute had to beat some one of note. All he had was Bika. Rodriguez destroyed Grachev in 1, a guy who nearly beat Bute.
