Miguel Cotto from all indications will accept Canelo's offer. Especially with Arum and company only being able to offer him half at best. Arum is somewhat of a risk for Cotto, Bob is a little grimey with major PPV revenue distributions. We STILL don't know the PPV numbers from his last 3 fights, that should tell you the "upside" he always talks about is BS. It would be Ludicrous to turn down 12-15 million to fight Martinez in a soccer stadium or anywhere else. Its ridiculous to accept 50,000 fans as anything more then window dressing. Given the financial situation in Argentina, Sergio's live gates generate a sum analogous to a Syracuse mens basketball home games. Thats just not enough money, New York is the soviet union when it comes to taxing boxing earnings, and the fight would not draw in vegas. So in a very logical decision, Cotto will take Canelo. Martinez is not afraid of GGG, perhaps annoyed, but not shook. The reason he will pass on that fight is $. GGG is a surefire weak paycheck, Martinez should risk his prime position for a Fanboy hype job? Why? because Max Kellerman crowned him?? Because he is adept at knocking out Gatekeepers?? No, the best, more lucrative, lowest risk fight for Sergio is Floyd. No doubt, he will get that booty smoked, and lose his title, but he will make 15 mil, he will be in the biggest fight of the year, Floyd's Style will spar him wear and tear allowing him to take a 2nd fight in 2014, allowing him to earn. Sergio Martinez WILL fight Mayweather in May. Everything sets up for it. Book it
You're welcome. I wish you good fortune on your writing career.
I'm no editor but I submit that a space/new paragraph once in a while makes reading easier on the eye and brain. Especially as your audience here are boxing fans who may have taken one too many shots to the head. I appreciate the free advice, and the well wishes. I write the top off my head without thinking in forums. One thought. Venues of debate should be without the normal accepted constraints, but in the interest of the collective, I will attempt to make future post a bit easier on the eyes.

Thread starter writes like James Joyce....tries but fails.
actually I write like an author, a published one, and I certainly was not attempting to be anyone, but thanks for the compliment
Martinez asked for that fight before the Chavez Jr fight. Everybody here wanted it too, besides the Floyd stans.

I remember this and the counter argument was Martinez is too big He should fight Ward
Would be good if that happened.
Floyd wouldn't get credit but it still would be a good fight.
It won't happen though.
Who does floyd have to fight for credit?
If not pacman, then martinez.
Nobody can offer may credit like these two.
And frankly he doesnt deserve credit for his last 5 opponents besides cotto, which should have been a draw....
lol at people saying Sergio is not a credible fight for Floyd. Are yous ****ing retarded he is the real MW champ. I think Sergio has the best shot to beat Floyd around
Sergio acts like he's a slick boxer, but he's way too slow to pose a threat to Floyd. Sergio would be easier work than Khan.
But he can take a better punch and has other attributes that would trouble Floyd. He might be able to walk through Floyd if Floyds punches are too pitter patter. But Sergio has looked more vulnerable of late.
Plus Sergio is a p4p fighters still isn't he? That may not be deserved, but on paper he is tougher than Khan for sure.
First off, who's alt are you?
Yes, he did receive credit for the win. Yeah, it wasn't a prime Mosley, but he did pretty much white wash him, besides the scare in the 2nd round.
And no matter where Mosley was ranked at the time, doesn't excuse the fact that he was nowhere near a prime Mosley. People were calling him shot by the Cotto fight.
Look alt. I'm not giving Floyd the credit for the Mosley fight in the sense that he beat "Sugar" Shane Mosley. I'll give him credit for beating the artist formerly known as Sugar Shane Mosley.
i'm no alt so chill your ignorant a$$ out....i use to post on esb and i lurk on here from time to time.
so what if mosley wasn't prime? does that mean it wasn't a legit bout? martinez is the artist formally known as "maravilla" so whats your point?
And this whole "not getting credit" argument means nothing.
One poster brought it up, and people replied to him.
In the grand scheme of things, this was only brought up because a poster typed in those words in his post.
It means nothing. Is this a great fight? Hell yeah. Will some people discredit it? Of course, it's Floyd Mayweather.
Does that matter? Hell no, so STFU about it.
First of all, he didn't receive any credit for that win, at least not around here(nsb and esb). Second, I've never heard any floyd fans claim that was a prime mosley......floyd beat the number #1 ww and a top 5 p4p fighter and got *****ted on for it after the fight by the same people claimed he was ducking. So yes irondan makes a great point in what he is saying because all the stars are aligned, just this time there are way more excuses in a martinez fight than there was for the mosley fight.

Floyd got credit mostly for actually taking the fight because many thought he was chicken.
As for credit for actually winning, no he didn't get that much, as SSM lost quite a good few fights he was overated for beating margarita and wasn't a top 5 fighter. SSM also didn't perform to well as well, had an off night.
He will get more credit for fighting Sergio. Sergio people can see is better than SSM, he don't lose as readily.
Wrong. He got credit for the Mosley fight, but not the type of credit you get, when you fight a prime Mosley.
No one's literally tossing that Mosley fight away, like it never happened. The people that are "hating" on that fight just aren't hyping it up like he beat a fresh, non war torn, prime Mosley.
Where as, you got the other crew. The Floyd groupies that think the fight was equivalent to Leonard's win over Hearns.

Floyds got to fight Sergio or someone really, really good, great if possible.
Team mayweather always say you have to do something really great to qualify to fight Floyd? Well when is Floyd going to do something special?
Always saying Floyd is held to higher standards, people ask him to fight middleweights and stuff like that? Instead Floyd fights weight drained green fighters like Canelo
On a serious note I cannot think of a single respectable poster on this site, (or anyone I do in life), who'd discredit Floyd for even taking this fight.
But also just because Martinez has been struggling with gigantic middleweights lately that doesn't mean he'd do that bad against a smaller fighter.
Martinez can't even move well for fucks sake, be real now.
He's one of those Floyd stans that always complains that Floyd doesn't get credit for anything, but turns around and discredits every other fighter's accomplishments.
You must have him confused then
floyd won't get credit? you're another idiot that knows nothing about boxing. which is why you said what you said. sergio martinez is the recognized ring magazine 160lb WBC champion of the world. floyd has WBC titles at 130,135,140,147,and 154. collecting 160 sets him apart from all the rest in the history of the sport. now that some credit for your ass.
Whether he deserves it or not he won't get it from this fight.
Just way too many excuses ready. I think time has shown us how these things unfold.
"90 years old"
"Inactive"
"Injury Prone"
"Looked like sh*t in his last fight"
It's basically a carbon copy of the Mosley fight except Mosley wasn't injury prone and was actually coming off an impressive win and you've seen how people discredit that fight.
