Referee Howard Foster controversially gave Froch a ninth-round stoppage win over Groves in their WBA and IBF super-middleweight world title fight in Manchester on Saturday. Carl Froch's controversial world title fight with George Groves showed why boxing is a brutal business. But it is a business where the good, the bad and the ugly have to find a way to exist. Groves has called on Froch to accept a rematch, insisting he has no other choice for the sake of his credibility. Mutual promoter Eddie Hearn has even touted Wembley Stadium as a potential venue, with a June or July date mooted. In the aftermath of the fight Froch appeared to be willing to take on Groves again, but seems to have reversed his standpoint with an eye on taking out Ward, the only man to have beaten him. Froch told Boxing News : "I don't think I need to fight George Groves again to prove anything because he unbeaten, young, hungry fighter, the best in Britain other than me, but I'm world champion and I've given him his chance - a chance I wasn't given to fight the best when I was at his stage in my career. He's had his chance and unfortunately he blew it." When asked who he would fight if he could pick anyone, Froch stated Ward would be "ideal", and admitted avenging his loss to the American was his motivation. "It's fair for Ward to come over here. In my 34-fight career, there's only one man I haven't beaten - Andre Ward. " doesn't do anything for my personal goals. George Groves was on my hitlist and guess what? On my record it says Froch v Groves - Froch TKO round 9, that's what it says and that's a very satisfying result on my record for the history books. They're the facts. It's a bitter pill for George Groves to swallow. I took the victory from him by being the warrior and the strong ironman that I am."

If Froch was mentally damaged, he wouldn't have been able to stage the comeback he did. He had no time to reflect back.. he was in a fight... Now its a different thing.. those Boos after the fight....His twitter was bombarded with a pic of him laying on floor with his own dialogue " I am going to come out and hit him with a right hand" LOL Froch is done... Best time for him to retire.

Trust me.. Its more of a mental thing.. He believed he was invincible... Which he found out he clearly wasn't. If Froch was mentally damaged, he wouldn't have been able to stage the comeback he did.

lol everyone here loved him a week ago. Now hes a bum because he got dropped, even though he gets tagged in every fight so it isn't like something new. He got the stoppage, it is not like he got whooped for 12 rounds and got a decision lol. I would love to hear what Ward thinks about Froch now

As long as Ward doesn't go to the UK, I'm fine with that. And Groves get the winner. No need for a rematch between Groves/Froch. Groves schooled him. We need an investigation for that blatant robbery.

Yes Froch must acknowledge the fact that people are only asking for him to give Groves a rematch as the ref got too cute, so Froch must give the ref much of the blame. The ref should have let Froch stop Groves and let nature take its natural course. The ref essientially is claiming he saw something most other people didn't see and that is always going to cause controversy and problems. I wanted Froch to win but I wanted the fight to run its natural course and I believe Froch when he says he was going to stop Groves, so I wanted to see that.

He was on Ringside today saying that Froch shouldn't be satisfied with the win. Oh but you are satisfied running your way to a gift decision against DeGale and then saying you "bashed him up". The guy is just an arrogant hypocrite. It's not as ridiculous Dirk, because there wasn't so much controversy about the fights you mention. Froch has had equally as competitive / controversial wins of his own namely Dirrell, Taylor and he didn't rematch them. Groves was a #5 SMW, and his stocks have only gone up. He does not have to rematch either of those next whom at present rankings and demand...vs Froch rematching him whom are proven to be at the top of the division. Ward would be an acceptable rematch...ok. But the point is there's a LOT of call and demand for him rematching Groves...and he himself said he would.

Maybe should give Groves a rematch as it is controversial. That's why its best refs don't get too clever and stop fights too early and see things other people don't like Hayley joe the little boy in the sixth sense did.
