So I know I'm getting a bit ahead, but if manny vs Floyd were made, what about the undercard? I'm of the opinion that the undercard needs to one of, if not, the biggest undercards ever. It's like the Super Bowl of boxing with tons of casual fans around the globe, so the event would go beyond manny and Floyd. It would be a great chance to showcase the young stars of the sport to people who wouldn't normally see the, otherwise. So, assuming that TR and GB worked together for this fight only, a few of my preferences/hopes:
-Tim Bradley vs Danny Garcia - not sure how much either would draw being the a side somewhere, but it's a great fight people would love on ppv in my opinion
-Keith Thurman vs Maidana/Broner winner- Showcasing some of the best talents at 147, entertaining fights either way
-Mikey Garcia vs Ponce De Leon - entertaining fight between a rising star and a veteran, would be interesting to see how mikey does compared to how the likes of broner, mares, etc did
-Ruslan Provodnikov vs Lucas Mathysse- Insane matchup, would be a war that would enhance the brand of the winner greatly.
I know that it seems unlikely, but I think it's a great mix of fighters who are talented but who would gain the most from being on this kind of stage. The brand of excitement in these fights could also show the casual fans what boxing can still be about; great, fan-friendly match ups. Anyways, what matchups would you want to see/ think we would see? Do you think TR and GB would even work together for any fights other than Manny vs Floyd?
Only one under card fight is needed. I would like to see Bradley/Broner and the winner fights May/Pac.
I like that...How about Ghost vs Bradley and Broner vs JMM???
if the fight happens, I think it will be titled HBO VS SHOWTIME
the undercard goes:
Bradley vs Broner/maidana winner
Provo vs D.Garcia
GGG vs Quillin
rios vs mathysse
lol even aliens will watch this card
Showtime still needs to find a way to make 4 more profitable fights with Mayweather. They took a loss with Guerrero which generated 870,000 buys and still lost money. So anything less than 1.2 to 1.5 million is not making them any money. They are building a brand at Showtime through Mayweather, but there are no PPV guarantees that will replace him once he's gone so they need to cash in now while they can. That said, they need 4 more big fights and names they can use to sell those 4 fights. Timing, name recognition, and threat capability to beat Floyd will be what Showtime covets.
Pac, Bradley, The Alien at 160, Sergio at 154 or 160, Broner, and possibly Khan coming off a big win are the names and fights Showtime need to reach those PPV goals. I think May vs. Pac is the right fight right now with Khan vs. Bradley on the undercard with that fight getting the winner of Floyd vs. Pac. You have both Golden Boy and Top Rank fighters mixing it up and everyone wins.
Mayweather should do these fights in order:
Pac (maybe 2 fights or Trilogy if Floyd were to lose)
Bradley
Garcia
Broner
Showtime couldn't ask for more than that.
Good picks I'd rather have Mikey vs. Gamboa tho.
Maybe Bradley vs. Cotto  that'd be epic even tho cotto doesnt want to fight at 147 no more.
also of course we can't forget a GGG fantasy matchup like GGG-Martinez or GGG-Ward
I like those fights too, my thinking was just that I'd rather there be fights that would be a little tougher to promote outside of a ppv,or else I woulda included GGG and cotto for sure
no need for a undercard.. and if that event happens i think the fighters would have to pay out of there own pockets to take part think of it as advertising
