Diego Corrales would have made the lighweight champs of today **** their pants. Brandon Rios who? Richard Abril who? Ricky Burns who? Antonio Demarco? Miguel Vasquez??
I know Brandon is out of the picture at that weight , but he was considered the "destroyer" at that weight not too long ago by some people. (Not me)
Talk about diluted talent.
What about "El Cepillo"? And J.L Castillo. Would have toyed with those kids.
Think Mikey would consider moving up? Or Gamboa , he would be AWOL in every press conference.
And I'm not even talking "All Time" talent at that weight.
This shouldn't be an argument, it's only an argument because your a retard... and don't want to admit that you're wrong. :pat:
Mikey's best wins: Salido (126 WBO), Rocky Martinez (130 WBO), Juanma Lopez (former 2 division titleholder), Jonathan Barros (former titleholder)
Robert's best wins: John Molina (former titleholder)
Robert did fight Casamayor and Corrales, but got stopped by both. He also got stopped by a guy called Ben Tackie (19-12) inbetween those fights. You've either got the talent or you don't. Robert Garcia had talent, but Mikey Garcia is a top talent and will go pretty far with his career (he already has).missed this one..........
dude, robert garcias win over molina is better then anything mickey has done (molina gave a spirited effort against prime delahoya with a horrible size dis advantage) he beat Tony Lopez & ben tackie (he also fought mosley)
mickeys best 2 wins are against salido (who he quit against) and lopez (who was shot & he didn't even make weight)
robert also had more heart then mickey & he gave Corrales & Casamayor a run for their money.............
learn boxing..............
Places like McDonalds, Jack In The Box, Wendys and Burger King have taken all the american talent away from the lightweight division.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
You're my carnale, but you can't be talking bad about Jack in the Crack.

Lol , as stupid as that sounds. There is some truth to that.
Are we talking about Corrales or Castillo here? Corrales was dropped like 20 times throughout his career, his chin was shaky and he might have broken a record had his career continued.
who was he dropped against? are we comparing mayweather to rocky martinez?

Seriously? You listed julio alvarez when replying to me....
Stop it. His chin was fine just watch the Corrales and Casamayor fights.
Most of them were cut stoppages early on. He bled easily. Stay off of boxrec son lol

Your an idiot, lol. When did I say Mikey Garcia should be in the Hall of Fame? How does saying Mikey Garcia has the boxing ability and style to beat Corrales/Castillo suggest he should be in the IBHOF? You get on the IBHOF based on what you've achieved, not on what you could possibly achieve. Idiot... :pat:
Corrales and Castillo had suspect chins, deal with it. You can only get KO'd and dropped so many times and still be considered as having an iron chin... Julio Alvarez, Jaureguix2, Cesar Soto were not world class level fighters.
you name me a bunch of fringe contenders that castillo was stopped by? I said that corrales was only down against world class opponents (clottey, castillo, mayweather, Casamayor) how does that warrant someone having a suspect chin? maybe he's just consistently fighting world class guys (while micky is going down against the rocky's of the world) and crawford abril have fought no one when talking about corrales.........
btw you can talk about castillos stoppages all you want but anyone who's followed castillo knows that he was at his best in the middle part of his cereer. in the early 2000's he was a monster(that was his prime & he was able to take punches and dish out the entire kitchen sink at his opponents)
i would go with that version of castillo to completely run through 130 135 today (the talent has dropped)
go learn boxing kid.............
It wasn't early in his career, he was an 8 year pro when he got KO'd by some guy called Julio Alvarez. Just admit it, his chin wasn't made out of granite, is that such a hard thing to accept?
The fight that Corrales and Castillo both had vulnerable chins is really part of what made their fights so exciting, you just knew anything could happen.

Castillo was never down as a lightweight. So what he got KO'd early on?
I guess Manny's suspect because he got KO'd by cab drivers ?

so what.................mickeys best win is against salido (who he quit against)
so really his best win is against lopez (who he missed weight against)
better then robert garcia? are you drunk

Mikey Garcia (at 25):
WBO/RING/Lineal 126 champion
WBO 130 titleholder
Robert Garcia (whole career):
vacant 130 titleholder (1 defense)

nether castillo or corrales deserves to be in the hall of fame? who the f*ck has mickey beaten that deserves to be A inch towards the hall of fame? or crawford, vasquez, abril? who have they beaten thats even close to those 2 guys?
corrales was down against 4 guys that were world class (in 40 plus fights)...........and that warrants a suspect chin in your book? maybe he's just fighting greater competition compared to mickey & crawford............mickey gets dropped by a sh*t martinez and that gives him a chance against corrales?
& the highlighted part is completely hilarious.........maybe even delusional.

First of all Robert Garcia is Mikey's brother NOT uncle...
Second, when did I say Robert Garcia was a bum? He was a decent fighter, but at only 25 Mikey Garcia has already achieved much more than Robert ever did and will likely go on to achieve much more.

My mistake , don't know why I thought of uncle. I know you didn't say Robert was a bum , I just don't think the talent gap was all that big. Robert was a very solid fighter. Fighting better competition I would say.
Yeah Mikey has done well for himself. But what exactly is his signature win. He is still on his way up as far as I know. The problem with Mikey is that there's no talent to measure him. I want to see him beating a good opponent before I say he would have had a chance against those fighter. It's not his fault there's no world class talent.
I don't consider Juanma and Martinez good measuring stick.
Who did he beat to be lineal champ? Who did he win his 130 belt against?
I just don't see it.
Robert Garcia was no bum. He was a decent fighter. I hope you don't think Mikey is leaps and bounds the fighter his uncle was cuz it's just not true. Mikey is in the division with less talent. Mikey has pretty much ran over his competition but lets not act like it was a pool of impressive fighters.
Corrales was tough as nails. I can see Mikey being the most competitive being stopped late. And Rios just gettin raped. Everybody else leaves in a stretcher.
And I don't follow the douche Broner , but isn't he already at Jr welter?

Corrales and Castillo were good fighters, but they were not as good as some people now make them out to be; neither guy belongs in the HOF as far as I'm concerned.
Both guys had suspect chins, Corrales was dropped something like 20 times throughout his career, he tragically died at the tender age of 29 but at the end of his career he was a step or two away from journeyman level.
Jose Luis Castillo likewise had a suspect chin, he'd been KO'd 4 times by mediocre opposition even before his first fight with Corrales (several more times afterwards of course).
Like I said, I would not be surprised if current fighters like Mikey Garcia, Crawford, Broner, Vazquez and Abril gave Castillo/Corrales a run for their money if not beat them. All of them (w/the exception of Broner) provide a tough style match-up for them. I think the drained Corrales that fought Floyd could be outboxed by many of the names I listed.
Rios for all the hate he gets has a much better chin than Corrales/Castillo ever did and would more than likely go the distance with them in a FOTY. I think he'd lose a decision, but it'd be entertaining to watch.
NOTE: Robert Garcia was not better than Mikey Garcia, GTFOH with that! :pat:

Yeah, they'd be running their way to a UD... Casamayor was a good fighter, he got the the short end of two SD's against Corrales and Castillo's, but still went 2-1 w/ a TKO6 win over Corrales. You won't see me criticizing Mayweather's quality as a fighter, he was an ATG lightweight and would do great in any era. I would have loved seeing a prime Casamayor against Mayweather, would have been a good fight.
Corrales & Castillo get overrated a lot in these threads though, they'd probably win some and lose some in today's era, same as they did in theirs.
Corrales fought every style, and pretty much beat every style that was offered to him.
You're not overrated with wins over Garcia (better than Mikey actually) Castillo, Casamayor, Freitas, Gainer, Manfredy. You're just not.
Vasquez, Abril, and Crawford don't have a resume that good combined rofl!
