Does the less aggressive/smarter version of Pacquiao give Mayweather...

It needs to be a combo of the two thinking when necessary and opening up on him when the opportunity presents itself..kinda of like what cotto did but a better natural athlete

This was the same Pacquiao, he just wasn't as aggressive as usual but it was very clear that Rios was a tailor made opponent. Pacquiao will always beat come forward fighters while looking good in the process, but he'll struggle against smart counter punchers like Marquez or Floyd.

Cotto cuts off the ring well and he's got a nice stiff jab, Pacquiao doesn't have those attributes, it's ridiculous that people even go there. That's just it though, if Pac doesn't chase and chooses to "box", who is to say that Pac will have to cut off the ring? All I am saying is that if Cotto and Mosely were able to buzz Floyd, I don't see why Pac can't.

Not so much. Infact, that favors Floyd's pace of a fight. That allows Floyd to get comfortable and find his rhythm. I always felt the 2009 version of Pacquiao has the best shot, if not does, at beating Floyd. 2009 to 2010 Pacquio beats Floyd but the shoulder roll won't work on a moving Pacquiao the shoulder roll works on guys who just stand there that's why Floyd fights Mexican with no lateral movement

It favors Floyd big time. Pacman is scared of getting knocked out cold, if Pac actually beats Floyd at his own game and out boxes him, that would be humiliating. Pac does have the weapon to hit Floyd that lead left straight, floyd for some reason has trouble avoiding a left straight for some reason.

The way Pac was popping in and out, side to side and turning would be very difficult for Floyd. And I don't agree that Floyd would be backing up Pac because of how Pac uses great side to side in and out movement. As well, Pac would walk into far fewer counters than he would have with a bull-rushing style. I think this fight plan would work better. But I still think it is Floyd by a margin of 116-113, roughly. I think that Floyd would be more comfortable in his fighting style than Pac would in his. Floyd's accuracy would be the difference I think.

While Floyd may win the majority of the rounds, Pac might be able to do what Cotto and Mosley could not and finish Floyd. Of course Pac was going to look good against Rios...but you have to look deeper than that. You have to look at what and how he did it Different. Pacquiao, prime or not is going to have issues against crafty, defensive counter punchers. The question is if he's adding wrinkles that enables him to fair better against these guys.

No it doesn't, I like that Pacquiao wasn't as reckless but if you remember correctly, Pacquiao fought in a similar style against Marquez in the 3rd fight which is why he got out boxed, it was the fact that he was willing to put himself out there that allowed him to have success against Marquez in the 4th fight but we saw how that ended. He needs to go all out against Floyd, put it all on the line because the only way he's winning is by stoppage. i agree but i think that there's no way the he's stopping floyd, imo. pac will land on floyd but they'll be single punches, no combos. But, he can outwork him. Of course, that leaves him open to getting stopped. really tough fight for him but it needs to be made. Actually, the more I think about this, I think Mayweather would do Pac like he did Ortiz and Canelo, force him back. Pacquiao not too effective going back. This less aggressive version of Pacquiao makes that easier. One bogey though is Manny stays busy. In a 12 round fight, the scoring could get really interesting. Fight might look something like Broner/Malignaggi.
