Just checked on boxrec to see which title's were on the line and all it states is the WBA Super, does anyone know which WBC belt Ward had in his hand held aloft by Reiss ? I watched the fight on a re run fast forwarding through to the beginning and scrubbed it after the final bell,so I can't revisit the recording.
another question I suppose on my mind is how long does Ward have to face his WBA mandatory left,I knew with Wladimir Klitschko he had to face Alexander Povetkin 18 months within Povetkin gaining the belt, but in reality Povetkin held the belt nearly 26 months, due to the WBA allowing Wladimir a fight with Pianeta beforehand.
cheers in advance.
I never knew they get to keep the WBC belt even after having been stripped or lost etc, thanks.there is a pic of Ward with three belts,I'd post it up but I dont know how too.I could copy the link but its another site and I dont wanna get into bother on here.
I just did a bit of digging and found Balzsay contested the vacant WBA title in AUG 2011,around the same time Povetkin gained the regular title against Chagaev,so his defence is well overdue,I figure Ward hasn't made a mandatory defence of that title yet then.I only ask because if ward is ordered to face Froch, then the fight could actually end up going to a purse bid like the Povetkin/Klitschko one, which we all know fetched 23 million dollars, makes you wonder will the WBA enforce this fight after the Froch/Groves fight.
like you say though these bodies are pathetic excuses for the word 'governing' ....say no more.
I know MOsley got to keep his because he had to give them to his ex-wife.
Also Pac and Mayweather always walk out with all their belts when they go to a fight

Fighters usually keep their belts if they pay for them, like how Holyfield had his as memorabilia. He isn't the champion though.
Didn't know the WBA supers get 18 months... about 3 times longer than the regular.
as for the WBC belt, that's the one he keeps for having won that.... that's why you see all those dudes walking around with all those belts in their ring walk... that's what i'm assuming though, didn't see him holding the Wbc belt int he ring.

Dude, the WBA allows 18 months for the super champ to face the regular champ,McGee and Kessler didn't face Andre in that time,so I presume the 18 months is nearly up,I don't know when Ward was elevated to super champ,I suppose that should be the actual question.thnaks anyway.
The old WBC belt he had is being contested between Dirrell and Bika !

Probably the old belt he had and that's the one he keeps.
WBA, who knows when you have to face your mando, they don't care
