I failed to pay restitution ( for a car wreck caused by my drunken ex )
My lawyer called and said I could be facing jail if I don't work out a payment. Fml. I paid 2000$ in 4 months out of the 3000$ resitution.
I couldn't make payments this month, medical reasons.
What is next ?!
As long as you always say that you are willing to pay even if you can't and can arrange some type of payment plan you are not going to jail.
It would be more expensive for the state to house you and lose on the payments. Now if you say that you are not paying and you have done deals and haven't full filled them on the dead lines repeatitively, then good look with your stay in the slammer.
Yeah man I owe roughly 1000$ out of 3000$. It's not like I said "**** it, I'm not paying!" I have paid

Why do marines have their names on the back of their pants?
So that the Navy guys know who they're screwing!
If you die on in the water your ass floats. Easy ID
That and when you do laundry with everyone else it's easy to find your ****
no disrespect, its just my dad told me to always have money saved up for an emergency. i didnt know your story and a recrutier kept telling me the armed forces always take care of you. you should try to borrow the 1K any way you can and just pay it off later.
Ask your atty to convey your circumstances to the court or opposing party. You're likely racking up late-fees/interest.
Best of luck.
Thanks, I am late on payments but my attorney left a message I could be sent to jail...
I have paid more than half, it's not like I said "**** it, I'm not paying"
Man this **** is ****ed up.

Nah man I don't. This will sound like a sob story but it's true
My father suffers from Parkinson's. I pay for his medication. He's not a veteran and I am, I live with him and help him out with what ever.

You paid 2/3 of the total amount. That more than qualifies for "good faith." The court will most likely give you some time to get back on your feet. Especially if this is the first time you're in the system.
All that being said - I'm not an attorney. :- )
Exactly. It's not like I said " **** it I'm not paying " but I have.
Otherwise my lawyer said I could go to jail. Is this just a tactic?

If you show a valid excuse with the correct paperwork, they might let you slide on missing a payment.
If the county or city jail of where ever you're at is crowded, the might send you to community service/work project.
Or you might go to jail.
Hope that helps.
