Why are people keep saying Ward cleaned out his division?Did i somehow miss Ward vs Bute?Bute was the IBF 168 pound champ.Ward never fought Bute.Just because Ward beat Froch and Froch beat Bute, that does not mean Ward should be given credit for something that Froch did, which was beat Bute, nor does it mean Ward cleaned out his division. The only fighter Bradley needed to fight at 140 to clean out 140 was Khan.Bradley never fought Khan but Bradley beat Lamont Peterson who went on to beat Khan, does that mean Bradley cleaned out 140?I don`t hear anybody saying:"oh man,Bradley clean out 140,he takes on all comers".
Let me give ya`ll an example of what`s cleaning out a division:When Tyson won all three major titles in the 80`s by beating Trevor Berbick;James "Bone Crusher" Smith and Tony Tucker,Hopkins winning all three major titles at middleweight by beating Segundo Mercado;Keith Holmes and Trinidad(And Hopkins also went on to beat former champion Joppy and "WBO champion" Oscar Dela hoya which was a bonus),Winky Wright;because he beat Angel Hernandez for the IBF belt and Shane Mosley for the WBA and WBC belts.
He knows.
He is in massive troll mode.
It's what he does.
i'm just stating irrefutable facts. you guys can spin them however you like. ward said bute had to prove himself and then for some reason instead of using your brain and saying wait a minute why does bute have to prove himself but not someone like rodriguez? why would ward say such puzzling things? instead of asking yourself this you say "bute has to prove himself!" very good argument indeed.
Wasn't Bute offered a spot in the Super Six and turned it down? He had his chance against the best and passed on it. When they finished and he took a shot against Froch, he got destroyed. He showed and proved what Ward always said, when he had his chance to prove himself, he failed miserably.
And it's Edwin Rodriguez :nana:
no they never asked him. they passed on him. then ward passed on him saying he needed to prove himself. then ward accepted a fight against delvin's brother who hadn't proved himself.
Ward is starting to be hated for being good. He's getting the Mayweather treatment.
Lucian Bute is this era's Margarito. 10 years from now Daggum and others will be showing videos of Ward ducking Bute and being shook. And they will talk about how Bute was the boogieman in the division that everybody in the Super 6 ducked.

how about before? ward kept spouting off about how bute hadn't proved himself, but he just fought delvin rodriguez so........yea.........

Fighters say a lot of stuff. They contradict themselves constantly. Every single one of them. Actions speak louder than words, maybe Ward would have ducked Bute, but there was never a point where he actually did.
And come on, Ward has fought a lot of different styles. There's nothing about Bute's style that Ward hasn't seen before.
he fought a power punching counter-punching southpaw before? when? ward likes to jump forward with his shoulder in order to smother his opponent. bute likes to throw that big left to the body or as an uppercut. not a good combo for ward. he took the "go prove yourself route" instead of the "i'll prove i'm better route"
Its virtually impossible to clean out any division because there is always new contenders rising up,,,
you can say wlad has cleaned out the division, but he hasnt fought fury,, then if he beat fury, there will be andy ruiz, beat him, then there will be joshua or wilder, etc
but ward has clearly come about as humanly possible at cleaning out a division as one can get
"I can't fight the #1 guy for my highest payday ever because he has to prove himself!" turns around......."hi delvin rodriguez lets fight!" -andre ward
He didn't fight Delvin Rodriguez his next fight after Froch.
He weight drained Chad Dawson, and stopped him in his hometown of Oakland.
If you're going to troll, at least get your shit straight, cupcake.
so why did he say it then lol. he didn't say yeah i'll fight him when i heal. he said go prove yourself. he didn't say go prove yourself to bum rodriguez. he's a liar and a hypocrite and you are defending him for some strange reason. he just didn't want to fight bute. he knows boxing more than all of us so we should trust his judgement. this is the new breed of "greats" only fighting guys that fit their styles. dismissing others as unproven or unpopular. smart people can see through this charade they call boxing. we will never go back to the time of greats like ali, leonard, and ottke.

You got it all figured out.:rofl:

When was he supposed to fight Bute but didn't? Ward was booked in the Super Six, got hurt in the final match of the Super Six, and was on the shelf healing. In that time frame between Ward's injury and return, Bute fought Froch and got destroyed. There was never a point where Ward took a fight that wasn't Bute but should have been. What Ward said is irrelevant.

but that's exactly what he wanted to happen he just didn't want to do it himself even though it would have been his biggest money fight. great fighters don't think like that. great fighters dont think well i hope this guy who would give me trouble loses. they say i'll fight you, you, and you to prove i'm the best. they don't need triangle theories.
Yeah.
That's it.
You got it all figured out.:rofl:
In the end, Ward was right.
He stepped up, and was knocked silly by Froch.
Who was Butes best win while the Super Six guys beat the snot out of each other?
Ancient ass Glenn Johnson?

except that's not the reason he didn't fight bute. the reason as he said himself was that bute hadn't prove himself. so the #1 guy who was a world champ and big star who fought on hbo had to prove himself but delvin rodriguez who was a back end top 10er didn't have to prove himself. this is called hypocrisy. anyone who makes up things to avoid fights is a bi-tch. ward can win me back if he ko's his next opponent. haha!

If I remember the timeline correctly, Bute did call out Ward after Wards victory over Froch, but Ward was on the shelf with a broken hand. 5 months later, Bute fights Froch, and the rest is history.
Can't confirm the months, but you're right. If Bute had taken a soft touch rather than fight Froch, Ward-Bute likely happens instead of Dawson.
Ward was hurt, Bute took the chance of fighting Froch rather than wait for Ward, and he got destroyed. Who gave a f*ck after that?
Ward cleaned out his division.

was david lemeiux rated #1 and did golovking say the #1 guy has to prove himself?

Ward cleaned out his division.
Bute had a belt but had not really fought anyone who mattered so was largely unproven and if anything exposed in Andrade 1 who Kessler easily beat before Bute fought him.
Come on, don't be silly.
People were saying Ward-Bute was THE fight at 168. Ring, I believe, even had Bute ranked higher than Ward!
He won the super 6 tournament. This is why people say he cleaned out the division.
There are definitely people he still hasn't fought yet, but not a single one mentioned would beat Ward.
