Its just so boring and bad, i mean you could say that rodriquez caused it, but ward has been fighting like this his whole career. He is clearly causing it a lot of the times. Its why Hopkins never truely became a ppv draw. its not a good style, floyd is way more entertaining than ward. He either needs to change his style, or develop a personality, because by the looks of that empty arena he clearly doesn't have a big fanbase
And isn't holding illegal any?
I enjoyed the fight. Ward hasn't been holding much at all in his last few fights. Also Edwin was initiating 90% of the holding and foul play in that fight. Ward was blasting him with clean punches all fight. But to each his own.
I will admit though, Ward like Hopkins has had some crappy fights that piss you off....
The holding in this fight was mostly initiated by Rodriguez who didn't have a clue what to do with Ward.
When Edwin wasn't hugging him Andre was landing some sizzling left hooks and combos. This could be seen more clearly once the ref took points away to get control of the fight.
I can't believe people think Ward is that boring. Even counting out the Wlad fans who hate on Ward just because he's black and the bitter Froch and Kessler fans, there are a lot of people who seem to think Ward is horrible to watch.
I don't understand it. He's one of my absolute favorite fighters to watch. There were maybe 4 bad rounds in the Rodriguez fight, of which Edwin deserved at least half the blame, and the rest of the fight was a masterful boxing performance where Ward was unleashing combos and beating the hell out of the man.
Besides Kessler, so much of the dirty play and clinching in Ward fans are every bit his opponent's fault as it is Ward's. Ward is a terrific infighter, he doesn't jump in looking to clinch, he jumps in looking to muscle and fight. It's not his fault his opponents don't have any defense for it.
unfortunately, the holding has taken away from Ward's brilliant performance coming off such a long layoff.
Exactly, fukin' hypocrites! You can't have it both ways.
Nothing hypocritical about it. They do not fight even remotely the same. Wlad clinches any time someone gets within jab's reach because he has no inside game and is scared to get hit. Ward actively tries to fight inside, it's not his fault no one else can match him there.

He's a thinking mans fighter too. I loved when he threw two jabs to the body, feinted another one then landed a stiff jab to the head. He beats everyone put infront of him so you gotta love him for that

a lot of yall are forgetting the way boxing was back in the days where wrestling was allowed. Ward is a real throwback, old school he studies tape from the 1800s, a real student of the game.
I think he is the only fighter today that can compete under London Prize fight rules
Golovkin as well, he is a student of the game who is old school. If you look 3 mins into the video you can see him wrestling.
What are the odds all these people hating on Ward's style are the same people asking for his head for not taking the special drug tests before the fight (and also not hardcore Froch and Kessler fans)??
It seems like the guys that can't stop talking about fighters post fight are the ones that were hating on them pre-fight
You generally post a lot of retarded stuff, but wtf was that? Hate, hater, haterz etc.

This is ridiculous. Ward doesn't even hold that much. The guy did a great job last night. If there is a fighter that holds too much, its Wlad Klitschko. Laying on the dudes back and all. Now that's ridiculous.

clamping your opponents arms and jumping into them with your shoulder like a football player are ways of being slick. ward's so slick he has to hold onto his opponents arm anytime they get close oh wait that makes no sense logically. if he was slick he would be able to get away from him without holding. maybe some fans are confusing slick with stuck? yet he's still got that shoulder jump! we all know its an old boxing move to completely jump int your advancing opponent with just your shoulder without even throwing a punch. real boxing!

You dont know what your watching...its called 'slick' or 'easy work' or something.:dunno:
That's a misconception there, people watch Hopkins well into his mid to late 40s and they quickly associate how he applied himself in the ring to Ward. Let me educate you, around Ward's age Hopkins was a better more accurate combination puncher, he didn't need to tie his opponent's arm the way Ward does, Hopkins' inside game was predominantly two handed which can't be said about Ward. His footwork was also better, B-Hop would have out boxed Rodriguez without needing to tie up as much as Ward did. It would have been something for the casuals.
Take Hops last fight as a prime example. He opponent didn't allow for him to use his "normal" tactics so he outboxed and outpunched his opponent. Hopkins is very capable of not using those tactics but they allow him to conserve his energy and strength for the later rounds.
The funny thing about this is everyone thats complaining are GGG fans and they are gonna hate on Ward because they know he will beat GGG the same way. They arent boxing fans they are brawling fans and they believe you should let the opponent tee off on you so they can judge how "TOUGH" you are.
If he's doing something illegal the ref can take a point but he's boxing within the rules and WINNING. These ladies look at boxing according to who they want to win not with an unbiased eye. They want people to end up in the hospital like the heavyweight from a couple of weeks ago who's life is still on the line.
how could you call yourself a fan of the sport if you don't like Golovkin's style? I mean, seriously, the sport of boxing is a BLOOD SPORT, always has been always will be. There are things about the sweet science and the pure technical side of things to be admired but the fights that are legendary are your so-called "brawls". Without that element of excitement and volatile unpredictability there would be no sport. And if someone wants to sh*t on Ward for being in dull fights every time he steps in the ring, they are in their rights to do so because you probably can't point to a single person who looks at Ward's style and goes "this is the reason I love boxing". He's supremely talented but he consistently makes for sloppy one-sided fights.

What a crock of ****.
yeah i gotta be honest, this guy bores me as much as sunday mass.
no denying his skills but a PPV with ward on it, i'm never buying.
Exactly, and I wouldn't blame GGG to go up to 168 and fight Froch, Kessler or someone else rather than Ward. He's going to make you look bad, might as well go up to fight fighters that will open up and trade with you.
I'll never buy a ward headlined PPV fight, I'll wait a week out to catch highlights on HBO
