I see it a lot when brawlers or boxer punchers face true boxers. They usually end up getting neutralized and afraid to throw punches thereafter.
i dont think donaire is a brawler, his a counter puncher like marquez
i think the result was more like floyd vs marquez
floyd being rigo and marquez being donaire as a counter puncher
You can't do damage by running and trying to survive.
You can do damage by knocking out your opponent.
Come on, peeps. Get real and stop this sh1t.

Yep. Rigo did something that only a fat, small, old Vic could do. Comprehensively outbox Nonito. Difference is Rigo got dropped and Vic got stopped. One makes you the pound for pound goat the other makes you a guy who lost. God bless the delusion and group think on this board.
Nonito won 2 rounds in 2013, he's always been an overrated hypejob beating up part time torta factory workers half his size
2 rounds in 2013 lol ouch. But it's the truth.
His competition just increased 10 fold. He was used to the 2012 line up of C level old brawlers, has beens, and dudes coming off journeymen wins. He got used to it and because of that, a good fighter he had knocked out before, almost beat him now. Because even Darchinyan was a "step up" in class from what Donaire was fighting in 2012.
Well you could say the same with canelo right?
Nonito doesn't strike me as a confident individual. I think I remember him saying that he was getting bullied so hard when he was younger he almost committed suicide. After the Darchinyan fight he says something along the lines of he was having thoughts of quitting. He's just not mentally strong, and I don't think he'll recover.
Do you think he looked in great shape v Rigondeaux? Nothing makes you lazier and more complacent than success.
That isn't me saying he would have beaten Rigo, just that Donaire doesn't seem to have the same drive and enthusiasm for the sport this year.

And people have the aducity to call Rigo boring? Wow guy rearanged donaires face and schooled him handily.
I for one cannot wait till the rematch happens so i can watch donaire get out classed again by his father, that was just to funny to watch
Rigo's performance wasn't very exciting at all..all that visible damage rigo caused on donaire was a result of that huge straight left that rigo landed in the 12th round.
Rigo was just countering donaire as he was coming in..It wasn't like rigo was pressing the action for the full 12rds.
All Rigondeaux did was run.
For every minute of every second of every round.
Dan Rafael, and a couple of people on this board had it close.
He didn't do nothing to Donaire.
All that running.

Agreed.
The picture clearly shows Donaire's creativity at blocking punches.
Can a fighter loose drive after 1 year of success??? HMMM

Honestly, that fight was all about styles. Rigo being a defensive southpaw while Donaire has been relying heavily on his left. It was not good for Donaire.
Darchinyan's team saw that and tried to do the same. It worked for a while because Vic does have respectable power to counter with just like Rigo.
That fight with Vic just showed that he didn't change it up since the loss to Rigo. Perhaps they were thinking that Vic would just be Vic and come in.
Donaire needs to realize and change it up against (defensive) southpaws or else he will continue to struggle.
