Toney was robbed in a 3-rounder last night against Gavern during the Prizefighter tournament in the UK.. He won all 3 rounds clearly but Gavern was entertaining the crowd shouting "woooo" during the fight and it somehow swayed some of the judges to inexplicably give him rounds.
Gavern even suckerpunched Toney in the 3rd round when Toney was extending his arm to touch gloves, but he lost balance and fell to the floor after his punch rebounded off of Toney's jaw.
Toney was by far the superior boxer, landed many more cleaner shots in first two rounds, the third round was the closest, but Toney clearly won that fight overall. There's no question in my mind. That was a robbery of the highest order.
Toneys balance was awful it was making Gaverns shots look more effective. I felt the 2nd and 3rd was tight rounds. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was a robbery 2-1 either way, 1-1-1, it was tight.
He's never been stopped in 80 plus fights. How would deante cope going the full length of a fight? I agree though and toney might die in there.
It wouldn't go the full length, that's not even opinion it's a fact at this point. Toney was getting knocked off balance by this Ric Flair wannabe. The guy's a midget compared to Wilder, and doesn't even remotely have the reflexes to avoid getting caught.
Wilder would knock him out quick and brutally. It would be cruel. Toney might actually die. There's no chance anything else happens besides a quick KO.
Well even at this late stage of his career, way past his prime, Toney still beats 90% of the world's heavyweight pros. And no one in the top 10 which means he is done, been done for a long time now.
Only robbery I saw was the fans! Having to watch these two fat slobs ! Maybe they should take up sumo wrestling instead! Sad to see how bad toney has distintigrated.
Toney easily won the first. Outside of a few seconds in the second, he won that round. The third could have gone either way but Toney seemed to finish stronger. Either way it was 2-1/3-0 for Toney.
Gavern was throwing a lot and hitting nothing and too busy screaming about nothing. Toney should call it day. Even IF he had won, the fact it was difficult for him is sad.
Anytime you have a former great being argued about against a guy with what 15 losses, that former great is done, the show is over. He also lost to an unknown guy with 15 total fights this year. Toney hasn't been relevant in 8 years. Nothing to see here folks. The curtains closed long ago.

How can anyone possibly think that James Toney provides any challenge whatsoever for Deontay Wilder? I can't believe how many people have gotten behind that idea.

They are tested year round unlike yours :bottle:
But do they test for drugs that make them worse ? They could be doping to keep themselves mediocre so that 'one direction' and Russel Brand can remin your major export.
Watched it live and it was competitive.
It would be nice to see thread titles of "I think Toney deserved the decision".
Rather than robbery this robbery that all the time.
It's a 3 round fight for fuck's sake. If Toney lost one round which IMO he did, the judges only have to see another competive round not his way and that's that.
Decisions on competitive fights do NOT quite = robberies.
This.
I had it pretty even. Toney landed the classier punches but Gavern kept on coming & throwing more. There wasn't a clear winner.
Hardly a robbery but some people like to be hysterical and scream "robbery", "Ducker", "Coward" etc so good for them if it makes them happy.

It was a 3 round fight in Prizefighter. It wasn't exactly the most outrageous decision ever.
Americans will cling onto any little thing and forget that their country has produced some of the most disgusting decisions over the past few years.
Also produced just about everything worth remembering .. :boxing:
He won the first 2 rounds but he didn't put on a masterful display or anything. His lack of activity hurts him. But robbed or not, it's time for Toney to hang them up.
